I find your videos very useful and informative! However, the flash on the TL70+ does not fire at 1/250 and 1/500 speeds. It is stated in the TL70+ manual. This applies to the RF70, SF70 and TL70 as well. Although these cameras have leaf shutters, the fastest sync speed is 1/125

Thanks for your input. I haven't seen the manual because my unit is a preproduction model (it didn't come with one). The original TL70 said the same thing, but I never noticed any detrimental effects of using flash at 1/500 of a second on it, or on the TL70 Plus model.
It's been my experience through use and testing it that the camera will fire at 1500 second and the flash will brighten the image. So, as I see it, the flash will work at that sync speed even if the manual says otherwise. However, I acknowledge that my sample group is only my unit. If you want to share some examples of it not working at the higher sync speeds, please email me. I think this would be useful information for the community.
Thank you for commenting on my videos over the years. I appreciate you watching and your valuable feedback and the correction you noted in this video. I'm going to pin this comment at the top so others can see it. Cheers!

Thank you for such a nice informative video. I have a TL 70 and have put many rolls of film through it. I do have the neutral density filters. I find my TL 70, very frustrating and have not had good luck with it. From exposure to focus, it just doesn’t work for me, I hope the new square film version is better.😊

Hey, it's nice to see you in the comments again. I hope you're doing well. I've seen your coffee company online in the past when you commented before. I really like the whole thing- Good job.
Yes, the TL70 original is difficult to work with because of the metering. That's why I use it only in bright light situations where I can kind of predict what it's going to do, and shoot around it. I have found that NDA plus f8 work great for me in the sunlight. Think bright sun, sunny 16. I didn't use my exposure compensation to help. That dramatically increased my hit rate and I also use flash by the way.
Even doing all that, there are still struggles when I pick it up after periods of non-use. It's like a skill you have to keep sharp with. That's my experience, and I've got thousands and thousands of images on that camera, and it's still tricky today, but I like it. Between the TL 70 plus and the original, of course the plus is the way to go. Cheers.

@@RobertHamm hi Robert, thank you for your kind words. After over 20 years in business, I just sold the business to a local couple. I’ll try it again and stick to sunny weather with the F8ND8 Set up. Is the new one worth trading up for or is it basically going to be more of the same? Interested in your thoughts.

It is a bit frustrating with an Instax Mini 90 not being able to control the exposure - I find the best approach is to use a light meter, knowing the film is around ISO800 and with either f/12.7 or f/22 (depending on mode) and trying to make sure you are in the ballpark of shutter speed range works most of the time.
But this is another level! - The full manual control of this would be amazing! ND filters would help immensely getting around 1/500 in the daytime.
    Thanks for the detailed review!

Hi, thanks for your comment. I appreciate it. Like you, I had to figure out what the mini 90 was doing as far as it's auto mode was concerned. Then, I attempted to predict what it was doing just like you described knowing it would either shoot at f12 or F-22.
I've enjoyed using the camera, but it isn't used very often anymore because of the absolutely wonderful Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo. However, my favorite camera is the TL70 Plus. I love that camera. Another great camera to consider if you want to range finder style instead of a twin lens reflex style is the Fujifilm SQ70. That one's awesome as well, and I have one, and love it. I think the SQ70 is easier to carry around, but for making friends or possibly new clients out and about, the TL70 series of camera just gets more looks and comments. People are excited when they see it, and even more excited when I show them the picture that comes out from the camera! It's just so much fun to use. It does take a little bit of practice, but it's not too bad, most people are just so used to using cell phones and digital cameras that the actual scale of photography, which isn't really hard in the sense of difficult to learn, but it is hard in the sense of never doing it before. A couple packs of film and some attention to settings and you'll have manual mode on this thing locked down. I do also find that the new auto modes are much better than in the original TL70. Cheers.

What a shame that they made such a "pro" instax camera, but didn't bother to put any type of hotshoe or flash socket. Makes it useless with studio flash.

No. I didn't. Ask you or anyone else. It seems that people offering unrequested advice is the hallmark of the powerless. I have never watched someone else's video and thought they would like my unsolicited advice. I'm not that self-absorbed.

OH, I reply to everyone- especially the the idiots. I like leaving their comments up for others to view. It makes them feel proud. Everyone gets a trophy, ya know.
