They are joined by Sam Bush on mandolin, Jerry Douglas on dobro and Byron House on bass. Taped for PBS to be aired next March 2016.
Saw Rodney in Nashville airport about 32 years ago...
He was waiting on someone, but I knew he was also hiding from fans, so I just told him I enjoyed his music and wished him and family the best.
He thanked me and smiled from a dark corner. I'm still a fan, even to this day in 2024 🤣, don’t think people realize his skill and talent over the years, a great musician to this day. Play on Rodney, we are listening and I THANK YOU !!
I totally forgot about this song! Didn't know Rodney Crowell wrote this! An American Dream is an American classic, IMHO!!! 🙂
Same here. I remember this song from when I was a kid…I had no idea Rodney wrote this?
I love the Dirt Band, Rodney Crowell's songwriting and above all that I definitely love Alison Krauss; she's got the voice of an angel and the face to match!!!
Rodney Crowell is the most underrated performer in the Amerikan music Scene...
I saw Rodney Crowell last winter right before Covid happened. Just amazing. Like a crash course in songwriting .
Such a beautiful song, And timeless! It seems like it just came out recently? But it's like over thirty years ago when it was released!
This song was loved at not only vocal but the intro plucking and the bass riffs styles, of course story.
Great country artists
Not sure which I love the most; that Gretsch that Jeff’s playing or Alison’s smile.
Always loved this song. I just love this rendition. All their voices blend so well.
That was one epic show! 50th, Family and the Ryman.
BEST SUMMER OF MY LIFE!!!

the Ryman the real country hall. !! what a great place now
Great night for music at the Ryman.
I love you Alison 😍😍❤️❤️😍😍❤️❤️😊
This song became a hit back in the days because of the harmony singing by LINDA RONSTADT, they should have mention that.
Thats right. I first heard it in Sliedrecht in the Netherlands years ago with Linda singing harmony.
that's the version that i like the most. and the very first that I heard back in the Philippines some 40+ years ago.
Country music is alive and developing.
Love it
Bought this as a 7" single when it was first released in the UK. Rarely heard it since. Thank you for posting.
So good🎸🎤🎶💕🤠
I saw Rodney last week opening for Tommy Emmanuel at the Wilber Theater in Boston MA. He was really spot on for his opening set. So glad I saw him live.
Alison Krauss... grrrr she is the total package! :D

🌹🌺🌹🌺🌹🌺🌹
anyone have the live version without alison kraus in like a farm house?
So, play it exactly from the recording.
Still wouldn't be the same-no Linda Ronstadt. Crouse just can't carry that harmony part.
To Frank Love Lisa FYI"
I think he forgot the words!
He's the actual singer so I'm not surprised
Crowell is super wasted, verses in shambles, still excellent.
15k hits????? pfffft, what a joke
