Ah the good old days when you had to walk 3 miles to school uphill both ways in the snow, and all patches were created using knobs and buttons and teeny little displays. But oh man the effort is worth it. Kudos.

there's something about these vintage digital units, nothing sounds like them. I was toying with a vintage 80s Roland sampler these days and i am floored with the sounds that come from these early digital stuff. nothing harsh, and the low end is always like a soft cloud. amazing
Always wanted one, just never pulled the trigger. These are so powerful and amazing that tEventide was doing this degree pf processing back 20 years ago.
Sounds so good! There's really nothing like it. Plus yours looks glorious! Mint condition. Doesn't change the sound but it's so sexy to look at. Great video as always! Cheers!
The Holy Grail is Mesa Boogie Strategy 500 hooked too four 4x12" cabs cranked with a ADA MP1 pre amp raw and pushed! Its ridiculous!! And scary like a Nitro Funny Car ;) I always love Eventide! My favorite multi fx is Digitech Valve Fx ;)
Definitely, there's everything and more to recreate these routings. The H3500 converters and analog front end have "a sound" that's not super hifi so you'd have to experiment on the Axe to get the exact same flavour.
It's unfortunate but there are only a few areas where even the latest harmonisers are remotely competitive. Nice to have if you absolutely need to do it in outboard gear or want to replicate a specific signature sound but otherwise I have a feeling they might be out of business within 3 versions unless they adapt.
Dude, I'd love to see a demo of the old TubeWorks MossValve power amps! Personal fav of mine. NaLex makes a free sim inspired by one that's amazing, and genuinely beefs up every sim chain I put it in! Cheers mate! Stay gold!
@@LeonTodd I found a local who had one, but it was in rough shape so I passed. I was genuinely impressed with the NaLex plugin tho. Even with an IR loader that has a power amp sim, it just adds an extra finishing “punch” & added tweakability.
How is it, after 30 years, this unit can still sound so amazing that I still wish I could get one? The Ultra-Harmonizer series was the creme de' la creme back when I first started playing guitar, and somehow, it still seems that way. In the last 20 years, I've been a heads and pedals guy, but man this gives me those older urges of building another rack amp. Maybe a VHT Two Fifty Two, a Hafler Hellrazor, and an Eventide.... mmmmm. That'd still be about half the size of my old rack, haha.

@@LeonTodd It's very similar, you have total patching control over all the in's and outs of the FX blocks, parallel paths into series paths or the other way around. Like the AxeFX only not bound to a matrix. Anything you have CPU and RAM for can be mashed together in any order/routing, there's mixers with control over level and pan too. You can even create feedback loops from any FX block...really powerful. Master wet/dry control for taming FX. No programmable LFO's unfortunately.
i am so tented with one of this!...how do you compare its mojo with the Eclipse?...i already have en Eclipse and to get an H3000 i would have to sell the Eclipse...is it worth it ??
More juicy sounds with legendary units? Yes, that might be of interest. Now back to making chorus and flanger sounds with my newly acquired, grainy and fun SDE-2000. Can't always find the stuff like SDE-3000 so might as well see what the more primitive version does (wild oscillations and almost a clean sine wave generator if you abuse it hard enough).
@@LeonTodd It's lacking many of the quality of life features of 3000 (no memory, no tap tempo), and has frequency response only up to 11 kHz (fine for guitar, perhaps not as great as general studio purpose). Delay time only up to 670 ms or so in 2x mode. To me it seems like you can drive the input up to +6 dB red led and it doesn't get upset like say an SPX90 would, feels like the front end is a lot like common analog gear in that respect. It definitely has strong low-pass filtering in 2x mode. It wasn't easy to come by any information outside the manual, playthrough videos or anything, seems rather rare. I don't think my literal descriptions can do anything better than this video I found by a japanese guy which made me pull the trigger ua-cam.com/video/pE0PCx3WsY4/v-deo.html. He has another video about it as well with more ordinary settings (the title is only "IMG5655"). If you spot it for a decent price some day it's worth a play. Very colored effect. Especially the vibrato in the modulation is almost difficult to mask to sound like a chorus or flanger if you play a long note.
I have always had problems making connections because the h3000 is all XLR but one of the pins is different from what we know as normal XLR So the cable must be moded and then moded again if your going 1/4” and line to instrument levels Not sure if the 3500 is the same
