"Ladies and gentlemen... on the drums... give it up for DAWLESS!"
JB goes frikkin' nuts on the DB!
*crowd goes mad*
It certainly has it's own sound and can easily be a great drum machine in a composition or by itself (as you demonstrate with your awesome skills). I think people who want an 808 or 909 analog clone...they don't realize how limited those machines were compared to the DrumBrute and more often than not those "classic" sounds we here were those machines being post processed through racks of studio equipment and effects. Which you can do with this machine as well if you choose.
I really feel that peoples complaints about this machine just chalk up to not wanting to put the work in with it. Its a highly customizable drum machine and has loads of possibilities and potential.
..vermona Hihats destroy this thing.. really disappointed by this and the impact.. I have much better analog drums.. beatstep pro is cool but was expecting a lot more from Arturia...
@@normdurkin6425 The Vermona is twice the price and doesn't have a sequencer. so yeah, it better sound substantially better. i don't get the complaint. if you want perfect roland drum hits, you can have them in any daw for free. The drumbrute is its own thing, and if you think the hats are too harsh, filter them. the thing has individual outs for every instrument. it's easy to tame harsh sounds, but making tame sounds harsh without completely changing their character is next to impossible; so i prefer it this way.
@@gr3g0r5 ..by saying you can get anything you want in a daw means that you have no idea the difference between analog and digital.. the Drumbrute hihats sound weak not harsh.. you have no idea how much better the Vermona MKII or MKIII sounds... have you ever heard one first hand with effects of course not.. the hithats are full, luscious and some of the best available...
This is the best demo of the drumbrute I've seen. Actually makes me want to buy one!
Thank you Jade for putting the Drumbrute through it's paces and showing some of what it can really do. The OG Drumbrute has had a lot of critics who don't like the sound and don't like that it doesn't have any samples but to be honest they all miss the point without realizing it.
It's a real analogue drum machine like the original old skool ones, i.e. the Roland 808 or the Oberheim DX and it reminds me of how I used to see the musicians of the 80's work those machines. I could only watch back then as I couldn't afford any of the them. Now I have the opportunity to use a modern one with similar limitations that those ones had. It really comes into it's own when you use the individual outs through a mixer with EQ, distortion and compression just like the old skool drum machines.
Personally I love my OG so much that I rarely use Maschine anymore. The OG is my first port of call for drums and I sometimes combine it with the drums from the Novation Circuit it as a layer or as accompanying.
Once again thank you Jade and great video
It's true! I love the straight forwardness of it. The Analog RYTM is an amazingly capable machine as well, but i hate having to find which sound im on to adjust the decay on my hats, i hate having to think too much when using a drum machine, it should be straight forward and fun to play.
Same here, the sequncer is actually very powerful i use it to drive all sorts of gear.
Another fantastic vid, awesome jam Jade! 😎🙌👌
Your timing couldn’t have been better... I’ve recently begun seriously considering selling my TR8S and buying an original DrumBrute off of Reverb or the DB Impact.
In the time since the TR8S was released I haven’t done a whole lot of playing with it. It’s fine to work with but I much prefer the Arturia hands-on workflow.
Not to mention being able to sculpt a given drum sound to your liking.
This has helped make up my mind- thanks again for the timely vid 😁👍
Thanks for sharing this, it's a very useful overview of the range of sounds, certainly, but more-so the feel and patterns in actual play. Appreciated.
While in the early 80s others complained about how the 808 and then the 909 were no good etc and they didn’t initially sell, there were those who quietly pioneered making use of their drum boxes to make new and outstanding music. Thanks for doing the same with the Drumbrute, you’ve demonstrated what a real electronic artist can actually do with this amazing analog gear and while it’s still affordable.
For those who find it sounds flat, it has individual outputs and sounds great through guitar pedals. The kick sounds amazing through a Digitech Death Metal pedal.
Finding this video with pedals blew me away and really showed me the potential of this thing, it kinda goes from sounding kinda like a n interesting cr/tr drum machine hybrid to an absolute monster! I already had an impact, but seeing the value of the outputs just left too many opportunities to explore for me not to get drawn in! ua-cam.com/video/Vb8Si8vdgvE/v-deo.html
Nice jam!! Great to see you making non-eurorack vids again. Nothing against eurorack but I’m not going down that rabbit hole.
Not a rabbit hole......it's a pack of hyenas.
love that you call the original the 'OG' I do that a lot myself in so many things all the time lol XD I also really love the cymbals on this, and any synthesized cymbals/hats that do the whole metallic sextuplet square waves bandpass thing to make it.
For microhouse and dub minimal tech this boy is one of the best a/ue drum machines
Yes...i think the sound of this DB is more minimal,is my opinion,i dont like the clap and one of the Bass drum, but i like the other instruments, with FX it will sounds great,Good Jam...Thanks
That transition at 6:12 was ace, and I love that little shuffly groove at 9.40 when you pull the hats down short. Great video!
I was looking for a Behry RD8 but a Drumbrute popped up for a great price, so I jumped at it on impulse and now I doing my homework to see if I've made the right move. This video makes me think I have! Looking forward to making use of the channel outs to run everything through outboard, I think this thing is going to be a monster!
Skilz! great job - one of the best demos of the Drumbrute so far :)
SO many people in the comments hating the drumbrute....if you cant make it sound good it aint the machine !
Reminds me of how Faxi Nadu did that hate video on the Akai Rhythm Wolf, meanwhile there are some people who made some really good tunes with only that box.
I just recently bought the akai rhythm wolf and tomcat and they are both excellent... fuck the reviews
This video helped sway my decision on purchasing a DrumBrute for myself and I am very happy with the decision. The play ability of this machine is amazing! Thanks for the insight Jade!
Sick Jam!
Very cool performance. Once you try the impact you will be blown away. The kick and the hats are improved greatly and all around the machine is just much tighter. The color function and FM drum are a big bonus too on the impact.
I refuse to by an 808 clone or the TB03 clone but I'm going to buy this drum machine. Oh if you want a Tb303 clone that's better than the 303 .look on UA-cam for the Avalon baseline synth it's F!?!*" Awesome
Getting the OG delivered tomorrow. IDK that people say the sound isn't "punchy". I love that this is a unique instrument so music doesn't always sound the same. Like OK I can sample a 909 if I want to.
Beautiful job, Jade! I bought the OG a while back and have yet to stretch the limits of its capabilities. But, I'm really loving discovering what it can do as a stand alone, and as part of a setup instrument.
Great jam but I would be interested to know if you or any one else has had this issue Defective White Noise Generator?
Great jam! Jam high! Taking us to school! Oldschool!
I love the korg er1 ... if I get the brute ... it’s for the hi hats ... the hats sounds nice on the brute...I’m
Getting one tomorrow
you sold me a Drumbrute!!🔥
Nice work!I just bought the impact a couple weeks ago and love it.Then I ran an effects pedal thru it and was just floored.
absolutely justified
Those metallic hats are awesome. Just bought one in 2022.
still fat
the little brother too
There goes my next paycheck... xD
That jam was badass, and this looks like the perfect drum machine for me. Love those crunchy analog sounds.
Best demo by far. Still torn between this and the DB Impact... or wait, b/c the eventual DrumBrute 2 will be great?
Been scheming on one of these for a while, since it seems like the closest you can get to a hardware FLStudio Drumaxx. If it'll make brain rattling kicks and snares that make you flinch, i might gotta cop one
I mean you can also run every channel threw guitar pedals and midi out to other drum machines and samplers! Dope jam homie!
I use the Drumbrute and the TR-8. I like them both
But roland gear you cant jam live. You can write in real time but not jam live on the fly
The most underated hard techno dmachine ever made.... it needs to be at 140+ 4floor to understand what was made for
Well ... you certainly demoe'd it :D .. very nice work
F@¥k me !! , you unleashed a baaadass side of the drumbrute !!!.
As you have mentioned i don't go in , in the frame of mind on comparing this with any roland drum machine.
Sounds so good in right .
I say appreciate the drumbrute sound for what it is not what you wish it could sound like .
You smashed it Jaide !!!!! 👊👊
Right afteri bought this and the Micro Brute, they released the "Creation" versions... pisses me off when they do that 😤 lol
The original drumbrute and drumbrute impact and drumbrute creation are three different analog drum machines the drumbrute impact has less drum sounds on it but the other two are pretty much ones to get but all of them sound great
Creation is the same as regular drumbrute, just a paint job.
I recently got one, but how do I access and switch between the 16/32/48/64 program?
Go ahead!!
This is just fantisco good..I just love it Jade :)
Seems like a really fun jam machine, but wonder if it can be used for much else as well.
I wonder how this will compare with Behringer's upcoming 808 clone...
Behringer makes garbage. Arturia is much better.
Looks way better to me.
@@MrRyancangri garbage for who ? You suck without that garbage anyway
This is innovation not 40 year old technology.
It's a really good drum machine.I find downside some sounds missing like cow bell or for my taste hihats are a little too metalic.I would pay 20% extra to have ability to load own samples.Sadly not many people on YT talk about software and how to manage samples library to add to Brute
Loved it!!
Sweet!
I was kind of regretting having ordered this instead of the Impact. No longer ✌️
JB, I am looking at buying a drumbrute but am not 100% decided on which one to get, the OG one or the Impact. I am leaning heavily towards the Impact because of the FM drum and the distort knob. Also I like your videos and I think you are a very cool and sweet person, keep it up.
When I made this video I hadn’t tried the impact... Impact haha
@@JAdeWii_ thanks!
Nice beat 🙇♂️
I was going to buy one of these...had the money in my pocket and everything but, to misquote Obi-Wan Kenobi 'these are not the cymbals I was looking for'. It's a pity as it would have matched my Minibrute 2S.
The money didn't remain in my pocket for long though...I bought an Electribe Blue.
I would love to see a video of this machine being used for pop/rock music. Any recommendations?
Layer with analog drums.
hummm, analog sounds all warm and stuff but facing-off with someone with a korg electribe in a crowded dance club would make me a little nervous. well, maybe not (if the club played disco music.)
No the electribes drums a weak
Great jam
Good stuff drumbrute is cool
How often do you sequence this with the Digitakt? How is the Parameter locking/Conditional trig experience?
Digitakt is pretty amazing, the conditional trigs are great
Yo this is totally dope i used this yesturday at guitar center🥥
9:42 LOVE IT
Just got a Rhythm Wolf and absolutely love it lol.
I've been considering one myself. There's a few video examples of them being put to really good use.
4:04 how did you get that quick stutter drum sound going??
Hi. I have just purchased the circuit mono and drumbrute but im having troubles syncing them together through 3.5mm jacks. Any idea how? . Seems like the circuit play double the bpm of the drumbrute. Its really frustrating. Anybody can help?
MIDI in and out to and from the Drumbrute to the Circuit Mono should work. I've got a Circuit MIDI synced to my Drumbrute through a Moog Sub37 and they are all in time. Worked straight away when I set it up. The Mono should be the same I believe just that you go direct to the Mono and not through another synth.
@@RoomAtTheTopStudio got it working in the end. I didn't receive the adaptors when i bought the mono station. All good now
That groove at 6:19 though!
I wish they'd put this sequencer in a decent sounding drumcomputer. Playability is awesome, the sound is just not there for me.
The sequencer is very similar to the Drum track on the Beat Step Pro.
Heathcliff I know, it's the only part I liked about the BSP. = )
@@Heathcliff_hensel if only the BSP had trill per step and random ability per individual track like the drumbrute does it would be an even mightier little beast.
You do know it has induvidual outputs right?
I like how you always look fresh out the shower
funky gadget !!!
lee novapolice great pic/avatar
🖤
Hell yeah!
The drumbrute is... A brute! It's in the name 😃
How come your drumbrute case looks like a big impact case? Is that a prototype?
This is the OG drumbrute, you're thinking Impact ;)
@@JAdeWii_ I think she painted the wooden cheeks black and I got confused lol
Gotta get my own now 😃
I was waiting for you to switch to rim instead of clave T_T. Did I miss it? Other than that, awesome video, thanks!!!
Hey Jade. Over one year gone. Do you still have the OG Drumbrute?
Nah, but it was a lot of fun to mangle!
Cool!
Reminds me on the sound of ZX Spectrum :)
Is it Worth it? or not?
the impact can't catch a break.. everyone hates those things on the side
Not me... It's the next item on my gear acquisition syndrome list. :-)
7:13 ...... Slump Up the Ham
How you doing, ok?
In my opinion is it worth it?
NO!!!!
I think a cyclone tt606 is much smoother and the mfb tanzmaus has more functionality.
Secondhand is it worth it?
MAYBE!!!
I sure do like some of the sounds.
Or the Drumbrute IMPACT which comes with Distortion and FM Sounds, and the famous Cowbell ;-)
Great video..but the brute sounds horrible
that makes no sense
run it through some fx pedals ;)
Jade is hot..
You did a fine job with the video and I enjoyed your performance but man, the sound of this box doesn't resonate with me at all. Truly a horribly boring sounding drum machine, imho. ;)
I want to be your boyfriend.
