    I could CRY at the relief of feminine values, masculine temperament!
    I want to look after everyone but be a masculine leader.

    I think this is why I love public speaking as an INFJ Male, I get to share my unique perspective. I can't stand the stereotypical Ideas of maleness, the downside is i'm still ostracized for having the 2% perspective no matter how profound others may agree my perspective seems. I tend to use my Intuition in a more sloppy way because of the social consequences for being too intuitive.

    • @ErikThor

      Yes, public speaking is a big thing for a lot of INFJs, especially the men. :) I am an animated speaker that dramatises and tells stories fairly well and can keep people hooked for some time. But my intuition certainly makes people feel a little lost at times. :P

    Very true I'm an INFJ woman. I always take on more than I should and become way to stressed, I've had serous anxiety issues before . It's tough. Lol. I try to have a balance. If I don't do much then I feel like, I'm being lazy. Yes I do get over looked and feel ignored by family / "friends"'at times. It's tough. I always feel alone... And spend a lot of time to myself. It actually doesn't bother me to have alone time. I truly don't like being an INFJ. I feel like a outcast in this world..

      Just a comment as an INFJ male that I have experienced these very things throughout my life. As an encouragement I can say with age and more understanding that the negative aspects such as anxiety and feeling like an outcast have really decreased. I've noticed INFJ's do tend to crash emotionally at times (I still do), but I have learned to foster and to cherish the common INFJ courageous trait of vulnerable authenticity. Don't forget your humor and wit which you likely have a lot of potential to express as well!

    Sweetie, I am an ole lady witch. I am an INFJ and I gotta let you in on a few truths! You, my dear, are spot on!!!!! I first took the Briggs-Myers back in 1989 I think it was or somewhere around that time. I was working for the state of North Carolina in the medical field and we were all required to take the test. In a group of 11 women, I was the only INFJ. I couldn't understand at the time, but looking back, I see clearly and I suppose if Id been a bit older, I would have but my head was into men and music lol. Anyway, point is your gifts don't change they grow stronger and more add on if you practice. And you, Eric, impress me! You look young. And I mean no offense. Most young people are drawn to me and I have mostly friends who are in their 20s. I am 57 years old. I don't say it to embarrass you, but you have the wisdom of that dude on Star Wars. I forget his name Oh God forgive me I know half the universe is going to rain curses down on me for that lol. Anyway, I am very impressed with your advice, information and vast knowledge on the subject of INFJs as well as the other personality types. Great job on the videos. I am a new subscriber, specifically because of how well versed you are in the subject matter. Brilliant work hun. Peace ~~Dharke aka Carol

    spot on articulation of the infj hard masculine & soft feminine extremes. and the psychosocial environmental impact. I often envy (strong word) the ability of infj women to embrace those feminine qualities I have inside of me that I long to release and practice more often... I'm so well aware (self conscious) of my sloppy, overbearing, rough feminine qualities... and I'm sensitive to criticism of my misuse/clumsiness with them. 😔

    I was raised by my mother who is a single parent and has a very strong "masuline" personality. That being said and being an INTJ, along with emotional scars in life, i'm more comfortable with showing my strength rather than my vulnerability. For this reason and because i was more confortable expressing my thoughts rather than feelings, for years i thought i was an INTJ. Now as i become more confortable in my skin i realize my true personality type and am trying to show more of my vulnerable side. Any other female infjs go through something similar?

      Moriah Barrett I came through the same thing , my mum raised me alone , she was very strict and severe with me when I was younger , and often I think that I had to grow up too fast because of the responsibility that I had to carry at such young age (I am often mistyped as Intj too)

    I being an INFJ coming from parents that are INFJ'S birthing INFJ and an INFP
    Was Blessed to meet a Fellow INFJ He the Yin to My Yang but at times the roles reversed we mirror each other.
    He taught Me so much about Me called Me out on My Shit and vice verse I owe him a debt of gratitude for dosing me with the Reality of ME as us INFJ Woman do tend to have our heads in the clouds and get way to emotionally sensitive while at the same time being a bit too strong due to the cards we were dealt or dealt ourselves depending on how you look at it.
    I do miss our daily tennis matches so to say and maybe some day the door he closed will reopen and if not I Am all the better for experiencing his thoughts.

    One of the ways I think my masculinity comes out is being decisive. I can be quite decisive if I care/have a vested interest, to the point of do not cross me. If I don't mind though, I will offer others their way and it may look like I can't make a decision, because I give it away, which looks like encouraging others to take it. But I see no reason to push a decision unless it specifically matters to me that it goes one way. And maybe there is the feminine balance. Like I try to balance my intensity with giving way when I can, which is actually quite often. I guess that demonstrates your point, lol. So there you go.
    And I see what you mean with the males as well. You come off very intuitive to me, though. Or perhaps it is a bolder ability to believe in and share your intuition. Again, what you said.

    I'd be curious to expand on this and push the envelope further. I've noticed the stereotype with a lot of "NFs" is more "masculine women" and more "feminine males" but just to play devil's advocate here, I'd like to point out, that I'm an INFJ, i'm also a femme lesbian, one of my best friends is an ENFJ, she is a hard femme lesbian, two of my exes (both women) both NF middles (ENFP and INFJ), and a therapist I know (male) is bisexual. I'm curious if homosexuality (or tendencies) are more prevalent within INFJ, ENFJ, ENFP, INFP, types. Thoughts?

      I'm inclined to say I know more intuitives that identify as gay, but there could be many sensors out there that just don't know it or are less open about it. I know several NTs that are gay too.

    • @AFBoerste
      @AFBoerste 7 років тому +1

      Maybe that “intuitiveness” in us, is where our “gay dar” stems from, and why its easy to identify others without being able to pinpoint why, its just a vibe, whereas the ones who have bad “gay-dar” but also identify as same sex oriented, have an “ST” middle :-P It's definitely interesting!

      There's a statistic out there about sexual preference and MBTI. I'm not sure where to find it, you can use google image search. Lesbians are most often INFP, Male gays are most often ESFJ. The ones about the males I had figured out myself already, since if you think about the most stereotypical gay male ever, then that's definately an ESFJ (hairdresser campy type etc) .
      Oh i've found it. Do google image search for "mbti sexual preference" without the quotes, and it's the first picture result

    I am an INFP, or maybe an INFJ. Any way the NF are clearly the dominate traits. And as a strong N, I find it hard to bond with other men, as sensors are just boring. I prefer usually to work and be friends with women instead, as they generally seem more on the intuitive side.

    I will keep an eye out for that book; I love your ideas. And, actually this is probably bad but tbh I would want the audio version, with you as narrator lol. Idk if it's racist or if I'm fetishizing (even though fetish is a noun, speaking of interesting English) or what I just find the accent in combination with your boyishly innocent cherubic face to be really charming. Smh. That's awful, but hey. The ironic thing is if we could see people not based on their physical shell, but what they look like based on their mind and character, it would be funny if you were actually like a dragon. I can just see you snarling, "Did you just call me angelic?!" right before you vaporize me with a shot of scornful flames. Lol even my smoking ashes would settle into a happy heart emoji, sorry. ^_^.

    Erik-Not that this is a new idea, but maybe it is more helpful to talk about the fullness of a personality type rather than masculine or feminine. It seems to me that INFJ males or females just need to embrace who they are, attempt to reach maturity and wisdom, and realize that there may be times where you will be a little more S or T oriented, depending on the situation. That doesn't mean your genuine self has changed, but that you realize, in certain situations, other types of thinking may be more appropriate or helpful. I realize it's difficult to get rid of the words masculine and feminine, but I never as an INFJ male thought I needed to be more feminine, but rather realize the fullness of my own humanity, which may embrace feminine stereotypes, but the most important thing was to be who I am meant to be. I think the same would go for INFJ females, not that they need to embrace the masculine, but be the best of who they can be.

  • @iwasanMBTInerd
    @iwasanMBTInerd 7 років тому +1

    I'm an INFP and I no longer believe in gender stereotypes and it's really gotten rid of a lot of my sexist thoughts and resentment towards women and men that I felt. Of course, I'm not a social justice warrior, but I am thinking more for myself rather than what everyone is telling me to think. Everyone is different. I am trying to balance my masculine and feminine energies via semen preservation. It doesn't change who I am into a dumb stereotype, but rather it gives me a fuller feeling of myself because I gain the masculine drive and confidence yet keep the feminine intuition and creativity. It is the best way to stay true to myself while improving at the same time.
    Yin and Yang are inside all of us. Yang is outward energy and Yin is inward energy. I read a theory that both are exchanged in sexual intercourse by both men and women. Masculine energy is more external and linear, like the penis. Feminine energy is more internal and recieving like the vagina. The sexual energy comes from the man and enters the woman and it travels up until it reaches her heart and becomes heart energy, then it comes out of her breasts (notice they are external and stick out like the penis) and into the man's heart, traveling back down to his penis and the cycle repeats. It's interesting. Even though I'm an INFP, I can relate. I feel very connected and related to INFJs.

      I agree. Most research on differences between men and women is so unscientific it would only be published in a shitty popular magazine. There is very little conclusive evidence to support men and women being significantly different. If there are differences they are small and more tendential than hard-wired. I usually discuss this more from a cultural or stereotypical perspective.

      Or you could look at the Big five research and you'll find that men and women overlap quite a bit, however the extremes of each of the five aspects belongs to males or females.
