This is a discussion topic video about the fourth generation of videogame consoles. This will be part nine of my nine part mini-series. Here we will discuss the Pioneer LaserActive, it is the sixth entry in to the fourth generation of game consoles. Assuming you count it I guess. - Ігри
I find learning about these obscure consoles incredibly interesting.
+flyingcumshot Thanks for watching!
Believe it or not, I actually have one of these. My dad got it solely for the LaserDisc player.
Well that makes three of us because I have a Laseractive
Do you have the expansion modules for playing games?
I really enjoy these generation recaps. They're so informative and the passion you put into each video makes them always enjoyable to watch. It would be great to hear your opinions on the third gen.
LukeMM95 Thanks.
AdamKoralik When you do 3rd gen you covering a system called "Action max"? had alot of full motion video games. In fact I think most of them were lol
Killer Ratchet Honestly, I'm a little worried about that. There's arguably 14 game consoles in that generation. I have three.
I agree. I am really enjoying these.
AdamKoralik Ah I understand then. Love your recap vids keep up the good work.
You're getting pretty close to having one video covering each and every major console ever made. That's super impressive.
I would love to see more of these because I actually learn from these videos. I didn't even know about this console/laser disc player before now. Keep up the great work!
JacobRockz100 Thanks!
I like the series. I enjoy the history behind the consoles. I like that you don't short cut the information and do your homework. Please keep them coming.
akaclarkkent Thanks!
We appreciate all your hard work Adam! Super down for more of these! You are the man!
Trippsol Thanks for watching!
I would love to see more of these because I actually learn from these videos. I didn't even know about this console/laser disc player before now. Keep up the great
These videos are great Adam and very interesting! I'm sure I'll be watching them again soon. Thanks for making them!
***** Thanks for taking the time to watch.
The information you feed me in these videos is amazing. I am always willing to learn, Thank you for giving me the chance Adam! I didn't even know this thing existed.
CommanderSpleen Appreciate that you take the time to watch. :D
Been watching a lot of your vids. Really enjoy the generation recap ones. Takes me back to my childhood growing up.
Jim Jones Thanks for watching!
This series was so good Adam, props to you!
flamingwoodz Thank you.
Do more of this series! I have been loving each generation you have done so far
frylock456 Thanks!
Yes please do a 3rd generation series. Always look forward to watching these you do an awesome job man!
Thank you very much for all the work you put in! You are one of my very favorite tubers. Never looking for a fight, always try to respond. I of course would love if you continued the series, but I don't mind. Just keep the great content rolling in. ;)
Definitely keep these vids coming. Appreciate the time and effort it takes to make these but they are the best/true gamer vids on youtube!! Keep up the good work.
Michael Peck Thanks!
I'm obsessed with console reviews. Thank you for what you do. You have a dream job.
Jmarley0632 Thanks for watching!
I love these things so much!! Please do it again :D I love hearing your thoughts on everything.
Lauren Patrick Thanks Lauren.
Would love to see a 3rd generation recap! I appreciate the work you put into these videos because they are fun and interesting to watch while being very informative. Thanks for another good video! I saw one of these things down at a Goodwill once, wish I would of picked it.
Ryan Fester Thanks for watching! Yeah, you shouldn't have passed on that.
I had this back in the day too. If I remember correctly it was about twice the price of the Neo Geo like maybe $1200 plus the costs of expansions. I mostly watched movies but also sometimes Sega CD or Turbo CD games
Do you still have it?
Thanks for this series, and including this console! It's cool to see all the weird extras you wouldn't normally associate with a generation. Please do the 3rd gen, I'll definitely continue watching!
Brian Armstrong Thank you!
Great series I looked forward to each and everyone one. Thanks!
I subscribed for your generational videos, so another season would be thoroughly appreciated; either way, thank's for the videos so far.
Dustin Dixon Thanks for watching!
I love these videos so much. Please do more.
Thank you Adam as always for the highly informative generation recaps. I learn a lot from these, like I actually was unaware of the Pioneer laserdisc player being able to do that much. That pretty much blew my mind. Great content as always man. I'm with the others, I would love to see a third generation recap if you could.
slpmjb0921 Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love these generation recap videos, and I would be very happy if you continued to the third generation.
The king of stupid Thanks.
I highly recommend you replace your capacitors
Even if you think they are good they probably aren't
Laser active is notorious for pac failure because of cap leakage
Adam, fantastic ending to a great series. Your fourth generation breakdown was very informative. You asked us about doing a third generation and I think that would be great! The Master System was my first system and would look forward to watching that one! Keep up the great work.
Sega_Retro_Revival Thanks for watching!
Thanks Adam, another great series! :) You always give me something interesting and informative to watch while I'm eating or doing homework, so thank you for that. I'd love to see the a series on the third generation, whenever you feel you have the time and resources to make that happen.
zg234 Thanks for watching!
Another great video Adam! Keep up the good work. Would definitely love to see a third generation recap
Great video Adam, really enjoy these console recaps and have seen them all so far. Hope to see third gen eventually. :)
Really loved this series. Even when I didn't know about a console's existence, the video of it really, really appealed to me. It's really cool to see that the lesser known consoles also have great stories that should be told.
Jelster64 Thanks for watching!
If you have the time I would love to see more recaps. They are fun to watch and some times I learn something new, like this video.
The LaserActive seems to me like a product to cater to the video/entertainment system-philes of the early 90s and get them playing games. I imagine they were and still are insanely expensive to have and certainly collect for.
Depends we’re you live, in the UK you can find the players for a decent price but the game modules... they are another story completely.
We do enjoy those recap videos, Adam! Yeah, a 3rd gen recap would be nice, but take all the time you need! Keep it up.
I say keep making more of these recap videos. I enjoy them and since you got this far, might as well do generations 1-3.
Do what you do best Adam. Love the video knowledge!
Thanks Adam for this series.
Stringer Bell Thanks for watching!
I love this stuff man. Keep it up. I would love to see a series on the third gen.
Falsechicken Thanks!
Great vid and series. Would love to see more!
stanaustin77 Thank you.
You rock Adam. Great series as always.
***** Thanks!
Yes Adam. As a 43 year old gamer, I've witnessed almost it all. Even then I find your videos informative!!! You are right on as fars as common VG history. Some of the obscure systems I have learned a lot from you. please do all generations, you will find some very interesting history on the early generations, as interesting as the MD/SF fourth generation. Thank you for your videos, I just completed your fourth generation, now onto the fifth!!!!
I definitely want 3rd gen recap... thanks for the 4th gen. you're the best.
Ozgur Dru Thanks for watching!
These videos are amazing please continue!
Awesome info Adam, I knew about the system itself and its add-on's but I had no idea that it actually had a library of its OWN games, that's super interesting. Thanks!
Oh and yes, make more generation recaps, they're my favorite pieces of content on your channel =).
PS: I would in fact include the Pioneer Laser Active as its own system, Ya did good Koralik! Ya did damn good!
Since there's no other youtube vids like this series, please continue with 3rd gen. Much appreciated.
Fife Bielby Thanks!
Yes! Definitely make 3rd Generation videos!
I have to keep watching this video until I get one again. It motivates me to get one again.
Adam, this series has been so great. I will definitely go back and re-watch it! You know you have to do the third gen next. You just have to. Really appreciate all the work and time and effort you put forth to make these videos, they're absolutely fascinating and the most educational.

Coach Smiley Thanks dude! How long did it take to get through all that Red Bull?
AdamKoralik Ha! I believe you gave me 14, I drank one every morning before work for about 3 weeks. I had a slow start the first day I went without one.
Coach Smiley Ha, sorry about that.
What a cool piece of history, pretty amazing what it did given the context.
***** Agreed.
I didn't know this thing existed until I saw this video. Cool video Adam, I really enjoy your content.
Jiggis Figgis Thanks!
Just learned one more piece of gaming console history, thank you.
Back in the day it was something amazing to play Mega Drive or PC Engine Cartridges on this thing I guess.
Ive been power watching all of your different generation lists and they're really nice, I learned a few new things and was reminded about sone great memories. I've played every gen of games, from a shitty 9 in 1 pong system that had sinlge/double pong and a light gun you usec to shoot squares on your screen to the ps4 now and your videos remind me of things I had and ones that I missed out on. Id love to see you do a 3rd gen list and maybe a 1st and 2nd list combined to cap of the whole gaming history. Thanks again and take care.
Be assured that all of us would love to see a 3rd gen recap from you at this point. I myself am hoping to see it soon :)
bladesofadrith Good to know, thanks.
Another great video! Nice job on these, I think you should definitely keep going! I would love to hear your thoughts on the other gaming generations.
Yatrik Shah Thank you.
I love this series and it would be great to see a 3rd gen!
Please do third gen, these videos have been really great and I always look forward to then!
LAN Fan Thanks!
I really enjoy these videos. Keep making them
loubilly Thanks!
It would be cool if one day you even got to the point that you could review the handhold generations/iterations
I enjoy these recaps of different generation consoles and would like to see more only if you have time adam! But thanks again my friend ;)
chriscobra666 Thanks!
Dude, I love your content. Your channel is going to wind up really big. Lazerdisks were so "classic." I remember being excited when our school library got one for showing educational videos.
DanWhite1025 Appreciated. :D
Great work bro!! I really enjoy ur videos. U ROCK!!!
please do a 3rd gen series. loved all your series. great stuff.

Do more please. I love these videos.
Doo Nish Thanks!
i would love for you to do 3rd generation, i enjoy these a lot. thx for the videos Adam.
amu bebo Thanks!
do make a 3rd gen one
That console is just so freaking massive! You could beat several people to death with this and probably not scuff the paint. Funny enough, my roommate who is a laser disc collector has one of these in his collection.
3rd Gen would be awesome, I watched all of this series in about 2 days. Great stuff
Justin Harford Thanks!
AdamKoralik I don't know how much more difficult it would be but a series on hand helds would be awesome as well.
Adam love your retrospectives please do the third generation! AdamKoralik
I would love to see more of this series.
Erik Chavez Thanks.
AdamKoralik Yes!!!! please do a third generation series! They have been great! I'm also a collector and know a lot of the facts you have presented, but from a UK perspective, not how it was seen from the USA. That makes these videos really, really interesting. Good work chap!
You should totally do a third gen recap! It would be awesome.
KevinPwnzFC2 Thanks!
I forgot I was alive while listening to you talk. Really interesting stuff.
+Carter Iuni Thanks? I can't tell if that's good or bad.
Adam Koralik If something is enthralling enough, I'll just completely zone out. Old technology is incredibly interesting to me.
3rd gen? Yes please. I love these videos.
Really enjoyed the series. Hope to see a 3rd gen recap :)
Stevie G Thanks!
Please do third generation. I love your videos, they are so full of great information.
Philip M Thanks!
Great videos Adam, keep on going :)
Velislav Velkov Thanks!
Wow! You got a vinyl with Genesis music... that's awesome xD
Great vid as always!
izumi937 Thanks!
Laserdisc was only composite video. However, unlike most composite outputs, it is native composite and not modulated internally. The Laserdisc format was recorded in composite and if players had S-Video or component, it would read the disc then demodulate the video and output in another format.
Plz do a 3rd generation, I learn something new with each video
yr videos are always good value to watch man and very informative. keep up the good work. *cough room of doom cough*
***** Thanks. Sorry, no room tours unless I quit collecting or quit UA-cam.
Really love this series and hope it continues into the previous gens. As others have said many times the videos are interesting and infomative and turn what could be a dull subject matter into a great watch. I suppose you could do the main 3rd gen contenders and sum up the stragglers in an intro/follow up vid?
Kneal2005 I may have no choice. I don't have the VAST majority of third gen hardware.
Nice channel Adam, thank you
Bill Gates Thanks for watching!
Great video AdamKoralik !
lordcanti Thanks James.
I would love to hear your opinions on the third gen, yes! Your series are very informative and fun to watch :)
Musicwithsprites Thanks for watching!
Please do the third generation I love all of your videos and want to see you cover all the generations :)
Love these vids, especially on the more esoteric stuff. I'd never even heard of the Laseractive before. You're not wrong about the prices either - there's a PC Engine one on eBay at the moment for $650...
agentbob100 Thanks for watching!
Yes, generation recaps be good. Please do a one for the third generation.
Yes please do the 3rd gen. These video are really like video game history in good chronological order.
Hmm... interesting episode Adam. Third VideoGame Generation Retrospective should be interesting I can't wait to see it.
Justin'sMovies/Games Thanks!
Very cool, bro. Always found these weird cross over consoles intriguing. =)
SegaCDUniverse Thanks dude.
Cool review dude I remember my boss/friend getting Jurassic park and his sons saying that he'd left it on pause we all made him forget about it for 48 hours and the laser burnt hole in the disc. He paid £289 to import it. He was not happy. This bring's back great memory's love review you rock dude.
paul doake Thanks for watching.
Your welcome p.s. I got my ps4 today.
I would also like to see a 3rd Gen series. Very entertaining videos =)
Please make one for the third generation! I like these series.
Do more Adam, I enjoy them. 3rd gen would be great.
Please do a 3rd Gen recap. I love these videos
Adam Buskirk Thank you.
Great job. The Laseractive is so expensive now. I love the LP-size cover art of Laser discs.
WhofanUSA Thank you.
Laserdiscs are composite only. That is why there is no s-video or RGB. Even the laserdiscs themselves are in the composite video format. Not RGB
Plenty of LD players can output through S-video, but their usefulness really depends on how good that particular player's comb filter is. It won't change that the LDs were designed for composite, of course, but it'll give the PQ a bit of a boost.
Yeah dude, make more! I'd like third gen for sure! Love it!
Third generation please! :D I love this series!
pikachu896 Thanks.
