I was playing Malth yesterday in the solo lane vs Imperius, and Imperius can hold his own for sure. One time, whilst we were fighting in the minion wave, we both just ate all of each others abilities and auto-attacks, and I (Malth) lost badly.
This is awesome thanks a lot. I do quite like imperius (am currently in silver) and while I don't carry my team necessarily (if I did I wouldn't be silver) I find that he's a great option to pick because of how hard people find him to deal with. I have rewatched your GM Thrall video a bunch of times and imagine this one will be similar just because I find I like the solo lane the most of all roles so this format fits me well. I also appreciate you not smurfing outside of the educational content as I've been on the wrong side of smurfing recently (a lot more) and it's a pain because you end up getting smashed by people with 3-4 times more play time than you that are only in your games because they queued with a friend that started a new account.

80% wr with imperius...depending on my team I build the Q or W first talent, never take cleave or % damage and use imperius as a backline peal due to his high bonus damage. It's easier and more reliable than hoping the enemy team will always bunch up. BIG thing you and no one has pointed out. Imperius can jump over terrain.
You do realize that the dummies have 100,000 health and you're doing percent damage, right? There is a percent damage cap, but it's higher than any health pool you'd have to deal with in a game (besides maybe globe stitches)
Indeed, I play plat level and I pinged my team to take camps at Hanumara but nothing happened. We took like 3 camps the whole game... I've seen silver players with more game knowledge.
@@StRanGerManY Having started working on an EU account after playing Americas, I can definitively say this is completely false. Skill levels are the same.

Pick him as the sololaner/bruiser. People usually want to see these roles during draft: 1 healer, 1 main tank, 1 bruiser, 2 dps. Now, at least 1 dps should be ranged dps and that one usually fills the role of burst dmg / securing kills. The other dps should be better at sustained dps, poke (requires longer range (usually skillshots) and/or good mobility) and it's really good if one of the dps heroes (usually sustained dps) can also take camps and/or fare well in sololane situations. Because this is what happens, especially in lower ranks. The bruiser/sololaner often stays stuck in the sololane without taking camps because in lower ranks, people either show up way too early or way too late to objectives. Unless they know what they're doing, the bruisers will probably lose 2 waves of soak to get that camp going and then be late for the objective because they started the camp too late. Well, aside from all these little details, it's also a fact that there are a lot of 3 lane maps and good luck trying to find a team (when solo qeueing) that can reliably rotate to doubleclear, which means you'll essentially have two heroes playing sololane in the early game in lower ranks.
@@griff3n69 As for "how to play better", I'll have to give a general answer to a general question: 1. Keep playing 2. Don't blame anyone, including yourself. It does nothing for improvement. 3. Think on how you could've played a certain situation better. (People usually look at teamfights, but you need to decide when you want to improve which part of your play) As for improving mechanical skill (e.g. stutter stepping) in particular: 1. Use Try Mode. Keep in mind that Heroes have different attack speeds. Good stutterstepping depends on muscle memory. Rather practice less heroes first and then spread out later. 2. Stand still and attack the dummy until the dps calculation evens out. Then, wait for the reset and attack the dummy while stutterstepping. Keep practicing until you can consistently output 90% of your raw dps. 3. Stand still and attack the dummy again. This time, add spells/skillshots. Use them on cooldown. Reset the dps counter and practice stutterstepping while also going through your spell rotation. I'm pretty sure if you can achieve 90% efficiency with this method during actual fights, your mechanical stutterstep skill would be at GM level then. Drafting and map strats require the first method of "keep reflecting on it to improve yourself". Most of it can't be practiced like mechanical skill. Some things can, though. Learning to look at the minimap or to check camp timers is a matter of developing a habit. Not much introspection is needed there.
