    note: if you use buwizz or the power functions IR receiver you will not need the pf switch due to the fact that there is the ability on both the buwizz app and the pf IR controller to revers the direction that any motor turns. I hope this helps

      Yes, but the both motors for driving are together so if u switch them u have the same problem.

    while this design does mean that most terrains are traversable, it's always nice to have some suspension for the sake of safety

      Dgustafsson13 it appeared that with a little modification (a little brutal one, but still works) it is possible to live without polarity switch and use L and XL motors to drive both "halves" of chassis :-) Not sure how to share a photo here, thus going to upload as vid ua-cam.com/video/jNF800QI2vs/v-deo.html
      Again, thanks for such a nice chassis

    Lovely editing and creation! (As usual) I like the idea of the pendulum suspension rather than having independent suspension on all axles, (I suppose it takes up a lot less space too) also, thanks for the idea of the switch to change the direction of the motors! I have had this problem for a while, and for some reason I have never thought of using a switch. Great job, and keep up the good work! 😋👍👍

    • @dgustafsson13
      @dgustafsson13  7 років тому

      +All About Lego Thank you very much! I choose the pendulum suspension mainly because of the simplicity actually. I see no reason to overcomplicate things here in life🤗 Oh no problem☺ sometimes the solutions are right in front of us, yet still we can't see them😉 Thanks again!😃

    For reference, rock crawlers are supposed to have locked diffs, not open diffs. This improves traction when climbing over very difficult terrain.

    • @dgustafsson13
      @dgustafsson13  6 років тому

      And that's why this have lockable diffs, so they're locked when you need to achieve maximum traction, and open when you don't need it

    Awesome build! Also, to make both axles turn in the same direction without the switch, can't you just rotate the differential on one side? Could you perhaps mirror one side's drivetrain to fix that problem?

    Is a differential good for off road? I heard some guys saying it's good, others that's not. What do you say?

    • @dgustafsson13
      @dgustafsson13  7 років тому

      +LevelTechnic A differential is not good when going through rough terrain where all wheels might not always be in contact with the ground. However when all wheels are in contact with the ground at all time (when not offroading), a differential is to prefer

    • @leveltechnic1105
      @leveltechnic1105 7 років тому

      OK?
      Then why does your off roader has them?

    • @dgustafsson13
      @dgustafsson13  7 років тому

      +LevelTechnic Because trying to make a sharp turn on solid ground without differential is not only hard, it's also wearing down the tyres quickly. Therefore I've got differentials that are lockable, meaning they function as regular differentials on solid ground, and can be locked to function like solid axles when offroading

      +Bryolo Swag You could, but I wouldn't recommend it since they're weaker than L-motors. And you really don't want anything weaker than L-motors for this kind of vehicle🙂

  • @syclone
    @syclone 7 років тому

    I have seen much bigger articulation in other MOCs at same overall size, this is more of an offroader. Also the ground clearance is quite lame for such tire size

    • @syclone

      and l motors for such a huge chassis... could easily use 4 XL motors

    • @dgustafsson13

      +Xewyz2001 4 XLs would just weigh it down even more, and be lamely slow too.

      +Xewyz2001 I don't underestimate the power☺ buy they're lamely slow going when geared down even the slightest👍

      @Dgustafsson13 oops, messed up 😅 however, maybe a 1:1 could give the best of both worlds? I think Zblj used in his Lynx 2Xl motors geared down 1:1667 (12t to a 20t) and had a decent speed. Maybe an idea for a future crawler :)
