Greatest road trip yet. Sure brings back memories of my grandparents 53-4 door. Still in the family, all original, would love to get her running. Hopefully someday.

The laughs, the craftsmanship of repairs on the fly, the camaraderie between all was truly showing through. Michelle's dedication to seeing the sights on route was an extra bonus viewing for all...Well done everybody concerned. 👍
Vice Grip and Fab Rats are absolutely the best content on UA-cam. This collaboration is what we all needed. The only way the trip could get better is if they could call Derrick along the way for roadside "advice".
This is the kind of UA-cam cross pollination with channels that makes for amazing viewing. You guys are all awesome. Bring Derek out for some crawling and rescue next!🎉
Not sure which was more awesome, Chad's wrench-bracket hack or Merlin's fuel filter-fuel pickup. Koodoos to Michelle hanging in there as well.👍 Gotta be my favorite video so far! 🤓
I hate manufactured drama, but this is the type of manufactured drama I'm here for! You know that car's never going to make it, but you also know it will.
Been a fan of Derrick’s VGG for a long time, as well as FabRats and the Utah/Arizona friends. “On a scale of one to yellow” these “fellers” and a courageous Michelle are a ten.
If you are going to challenge yourself with this kind of road trip, these 3 guys are what you need to bring along. Each one has their own level of expertise and approach to dealing with fixes on the fly. Not many would jump into and drive a 1952 (anything) and drive it 2000 miles cross country. These three guys had an answer for every situation imaginable. Michelle is an absolute trooper too. She is the perfect balance for these kinds of shenanigans. That was fun to watch.
I was born in 1952 and am still going strong. My mother and father had Mayfair Packard's and worked at GM. Fun ride enjoyed the stops, makes me want to hit the road and visit some of them. I think it's funny, Haha, when men don't think us women are adaptable and tough ! 👍to your wife.
You are absolutely fearless ( My hat's off to ANYONE that's brave enough to buy a car from Derek and drive it any farther than walking distance from home ) !! IMHO it's y thin line between fearless and foolish !
@@johnhoward7298 In defense of Derek, that was one of his more reliable purchases, yet he probably let it go for a song. It is really elegant looking, with a lot of American chrome for 1952, although the lack of large fins will not allow it to slice through the miles as later 1950s model American cars will.
I know buying an old car in the middle of nowhere and driving it home is Derek's stick, I always enjoy when you guys go on these adventures. That Packard is a really cool ride. Can't wait to see what you do with that things even though with a few reworks of temp fixes it could be the family daily driver. Glad everyone made it safe enjoy your Thanksgiving!
Paul's goals and threshold for success "see if we can fix things along the way and keep a positive attitude" is a reminder of the effort it takes sometimes and it really is the heart of why I love this channel.
I love the confidence on your own ability, to troubleshoot and repair, just about anything. You guys ( Merlin, Chad and Paul) are impressive. Congratulations on the Packard. My guess is Michelle is good for another few years before going on another one of these " adventures". 😊
After all that trouble with the boat , you turned it into "happily ever after". Right down to Van Halen . I never expected a sideways Packard on this one , but it was sure worth the watch . Graceland was a nice touch as well . I have no idea how you will ever top this one , but please keep them coming . YOU GUYS ROCK !
I’m not one to comment on videos. This may be the first. But this one earned it. Great watch, great editing and great content. The ingenuity to overcome each problem is a testament to how good all three are at what you do. Great job guys!
First I have to give Michelle credit for being profoundly courageous to endure this ultimate road trip ! Next I watched Chad quietly observing and contemplating the entirety of each occurrence . Merlin and Chad have my admiration for their innovative solutions to the mechanical issues that developed. And lastly the playful caziness of Paul who thought up this challenging, character building real life adventure !!!! Thank God you made it safely back to beautiful downtown Glendale, Utah .
What I really appreciate about these adventures is that I’m encouraged to push my old vehicles further. My 1959 Chevy Apache truck has the original 235ci and 4 speed manual (w granny low). I used to be “afraid” to drive it further than 30-40 miles from home because I didn’t want to break down somewhere. The road trip videos convinced me that it will all be fine. I regularly drive it to car shows hours away now. I ripped my little all original drivetrain 1960 MGA 6 hours to Wisconsin and back with no issues this summer. The worst that’s ever happened is I’ve run out of gas.
I will forever remember Merlin's bobber filter magic . That could have saved me so much gastric distress over the years with old outboard motors ! ❤😊 Michelle- you were such a trooper ! I am proud of you . ( please review the video ) There is one point where you looked as though you were about to go "beast mode" but YOU DIDN'T 😊😅❤
We were so excited to watch your video profiling our new and beautiful state of Tennessee, as you passed through. We left California 3 1/2 years ago and moved to Adamsville, love it here. You found one of our best BBQ places in Savanna, TN, the Smoking Pig. When we told the ladies their place was on UA-cam, they were very surprised. When we described your ride they remembered you. They said they would look your channel up. Hope they did. Always enjoy watching what your shop and family are doing.
You’all are crazy! Merlin the wizard to the rescue again. Chad was a surprise addition but he earned his keep, Michele, what were you thinking? Great road trip, makes for a long week but we all enjoyed another adventure👍
Thanks for sharing Graceland with us. I was 9 when Elvis passed and I cried and cried. The first album I ever bought with my own money was his. I loved playing my Mom's 45's on the record player and dancing. Many years later when I got married I walked down the aisle to "Love Me Tender". His voice was one in a million.
All of you are nuts....in a great way..Michelle even if you did not go both ways I still think you are a trooper for staying with the whole trip and seeing whats on the other side of the hill. Love what you do thanks so much for the fun videos. You have a fan for life in me.
In my mind Merlin and Paul with their ear to ear smiles in the front seat of an old beater that some uncle left in the field are reliving their teen years , Chad and Michel look like scared hitch hikers that got in the wrong car Lol
What a calamity of a video, but it looked fun! Chad's face the entire trip was one of "what in the hell did I get myself into and when is it gonna be over"! Def an hour of good entertainment.
Things looked pretty touch and go for a while in the Packard! Everyone's flexibility and ingenuity came through in the end with positive attitude like Paul said. Well done! Michelle, what a champ for hanging in there the whole way! Thanks for the tour of Graceland, also!
Seeing you guys with VGG is like when two shows you watched as a kid had crossover episodes. It’s almost surreal seeing two channels I love watching in one video together.

One of the men on the civil war submarine Hunley, was at that battle. His life was saved on that battlefield when a musket ball struck a gold coin in his pocket, and kept the ball from entering his body. The archeologist have recovered that very coin from the remains of the Hunley submarine wreck. Fantastic trip you guys!
This was the best adventure for us who watch FabRats. Thanks for including us. I have so many thoughts about this. The car is one year older than me. No one in my family was rich enough to own a Packard. I admire everyone's great attitude. I can see how things could have gone "south" a lot of times. Finally, I want Paul, Merlin, and Chad along in case I find my dream car ('57 DeSoto Firesweep) and decide to drive it home. 😊
WOW! So cool! My family and I did model t tours with Archie Louis in the early 80s. The old man hasn't changed much. great to see he still has the old shop
The longer episode of ya'll's shenanigans was truly fantastic! You made my Sunday evening very entertaining as I embark on another week tomorrow. Thank you for taking us along!
l'd love to see a collaboration video of the unusual ' fixes ' from Matt, Rory, Robby, Chad, Merlin, Paul and anyone else . Paul's chainsaw to charge the battery story was a cracker. Merlin's fuel filter tank pickup is genius. Thanks everyone for a truly entertaining video.

First time watching your channel and really enjoyed it. VGG’s Packard rescue and revival was one of my favs and it’s great to see it go to someone who will appreciate it. The groups ingenuity and camaraderie was super enjoyable to watch. Those Packard straight 8s are super impressive. What a great video, loved watching your journey, from an American car nut here in Suffolk County UK. 2,000 miles in that fabulous old '52 Packard that had been standing for all that time, well done guys and Michelle. By the way 2,000 miles from here you be in Southern Italy! Kindest thoughts, patricko
My Dee (Dad) had two Champ pickup trucks - a stepside and a fleetside. They are so kewl! Love it! Great Packard, too - this would be a dream for me - to wander across the country in a old car and all the adventures that go along with it! It would definitely remind me of my childhood in the 70's!
