Dear Auri, you helped me a lot today! My sun asked me to help him clean his house. He lives there with his brother, they both work a lot and household is not on top of their list 😉. When I came there it looked really bad. I didn’t know where to start and then I thought: What would Auri do? So I started with picking up all the trash and laundry like you do all the time. And had my start! I cleaned the sofa etc from cat hear with a washing-up brush - workes like a charm 👍, cleaned dirty surfaces by putting product on it and leave it for a while, Used a floor squeegee instead of a vacuum cleaner and lord behold, started even liking doing it!!! It was so quick! The whole house is clean now, the washing is done, it smells wonderful and I am very tired but happy. Thanks for your many tips that made the job so much easier today❤

Mom do you know why they live like this? Auri helps people who have gone through trauma and have emotional blocks to taking care of their home and selves. Some people just expect someone to pick up after them and need to grow up. Did your boys do chores, dishes, laundry etc while growing up? Are your boys suffering, dealing with unresolved issues? This could be resolved if you figure out why they are not taking care of things. I hope you resolve it. hugs

I think it's really good that this man dared to ask for help. I think in a lot of the other homes where the homeowner has been a man, it has been a sister or a mom asking for help on his behalf. Being able to ask for help is important, and difficult if you're ashamed.
If you read this, "Tony", I hope you will be able to keep this clean now for you and your cat!

    • @xradelox
      @xradelox 8 місяців тому +2

That’s pretty typical for men to not ask for help. That’s where the joke about men never pulling over and asking for directions came from. I feel like a lot of men have been indoctrinated to feel like they can’t cry, they can’t ask for help, etc because that shows “weakness”. But the reality is that EVERY human has weaknesses in one area of life or another and no one is perfect. Being able to admit that you can’t carry the world on your shoulders without breaking is actually a sign of strength, modesty and intelligence ❤️

This is one of the cleanest houses you'd ever clean and you can see why: this man seems to be very minimalist and only has the necessary (he has few cutlery for example). In homes where there are many things it is more difficult to keep clean and organized.
I have a minimalist house and when it gets dirty it's easier to clean: I don't have as many dishes, clothes, furniture... Minimalism helps a lot. My friends judged me a lot because I only had what I needed but when they saw how much easier life was, they started to be like that too.
Oh and I was so happy to see the little cat 🥰 I have 3 and when you clean a house with some, I just fall in love with them 💕

For anyone wondering where to start when overwhelmed with cleaning, I suggest to start with the trash and recycling (just like Auri!). Once you get it bagged up and out of the way, it's much easier to put things away and clean.
Also, be willing to break the rules. I had two jars by my sink for so long because I wanted to empty them and recycle the glass. Three years later and it still wasn't done. I finally threw them in the trash. I felt so much relief! It wasn't the "perfect" thing to do, but I did it so I could move on.

BIG HUGS TO YOU ALL! Also, for white plastic handles and knobs that have turned yellowy -- sometimes you can re-whiten those by removing them and tossing them in a plastic bag or closed container with regular drugstore hydrogen peroxide and letting them just sit for like 24 hours. Also often works for stained silicone and rubber! Doesn't work for EVERYTHING, but it's a cheap and easy method to try that definitely won't harm them.

Yay, another peroxide fan! It also works beautifully to remove stains from clothing and linens. Just regular, drugstore 3% hydrogen peroxide undiluted and straight from the bottle. Pour it directly on the stain and blot. It’s so gentle that you can repeat until the stain is gone, you can even let it air dry and then have another go at it. It doesn’t lift the color from the fabric fibers either, it just works on the stain.

His flat was mostly clean but the stove was covered in grease for years, by the look of it. I cleaned it white using just hot water, baking soda, sponge and my own nails instead of scraper, as a final touch :D Didnt have all those grease removers/oven cleaners back then, or at least they werent widely advertised so I had no idea about them... Makes me laugh thinking about it now, I would spend x10 time less cleaning it these days. And Auri surely does great job telling people what to do and where to start.

I'm bipolar so I know where you're coming from. I had heard the advice dozens of times to do just one thing, wash one dish for example and then they would say: once you start you will want to continue and finish all your dishes. The last part of it created an expectation that I had to complete the entire task which would bring on a panic attack just thinking about it. After a grocery delivery one day I was totally overwhelmed by the thought of putting it away. So I made a deal with myself. I would put away one can and then I could sit down and have a cup of coffee and watch a movie. Which I did. Then I told myself I had to put away the meat. Which I did. The rest of it could sit on the table and I would put away just one can at a time. It took me a few days to put them all away but when the final can, soup I had for lunch i felt amazing! I put a note on my fridge in big letters "ONE CAN AT A TIME!" I use this to wash dishes, sweeping or vacuuming a small 4'x4' section, just wiping down the top of my sink or just taking brush to inside of toilet. My apartment will never be in BETTER HOMES and GARDENS but it's livable and I have learned to accept that
it's okay. Right now I need to pee. I think I'm gonna wipe down the mirror.

Auri helped me in a totally different way.
I’ve always been a naturally clean organized person. It’s an effortless act to clean and keep tidy. Throughout the years, I’ve always cringed and half-judged people who live in filth. This goes against my faith to judge so I knew I was doing something wrong. Auri’s positive attitude and non-judgmental attitude toward people who are going through life tragedies, has rubbed off on me. It’s like God was like, ‘Learn from her!’ I had to humble myself and practice empathy for people. And instead of judging them, help them. And not only help them, do it with a fun graceful attitude.
So thank you Auri! Thank you for helping me overcome something I always secretly felt bad about. We are all flawed, that was something I dealt with. No one is perfect. But I’m glad you helped me in a different way.

I love what Auri is doing! She must have a great heart to do things like this for free! I have noticed that in the majority of these cases, a very high degree of mental illness is usually involved. I wish there were more free mental health services available for those of us who are struggling with our mental health, especially when it our mental health starts to affect our physical health (results in hoarding, lack of ability/motivation to clean) to this degree. Cleaning our homes is wonderful but if we dont get the help we need, they will end up right back where they were!

That ice happens in fridges when the seal around the door fails. Moisture from outside gets pulled in and accumulates on the back wall. Eventually this can even cover the cooling vents and make the whole fridge/freezer warm up and go bad. Happened to me many a time in cheap old apartments.

Auri! I finally have a tip for you. The drawers that you worked on, looked like they were on rollers. If so, those are the type you should be able to easily remove by lifting up a bit, and then pulling out. Then, you can dump the contents and also even clean the drawer on the countertop so you don’t have to bend so much. And then, just stick the drawer back in when you are done. Hopefully you will see this one day if someone else has not mentioned it. As always, another fabulous before and after!! ❤❤❤❤❤

I would advise if depressed - but able to walk about and get out of bed because I know some depression can cause people to not even be able to get out bed or eat - but if able to walk about - then set your phone for a five minute wipe off of counters - wipe down of ovens - and putting things in bins and cleaning the cat's spot and litter. Even five minutes make a huge difference if done every day and it seems so much less daunting than having to 'clean up the whole kitchen or house'. Hope this fellow knows he deserves a clean comfortable home.
