- In this video, we will explore creating atmospheric landscapes with interesting marks and pops of gold. We’ll be using a variety of supplies, including watercolor and mica ink, we will experiment with easy techniques and interesting marks to add depth and dimension to our artwork. (This is a video I made for another project earlier this year that I can now add to UA-cam!)

That is a great odd color... and I have a love/hate relationship with it... I want to love it... and most times I don't... might just be the name I like so much. Ha! 🤣 Thank you! 🥰
When you put out the green gold I thought “no…don’t do it”. You didn’t hear me so you went ahead and did it anyway. Stunning! I guess it takes lots of experience to make those unusual colour combos. These are more minimal than several you have done, limited media and they are just gorgeous. By the way, do you have any idea how much you have cost me? I’m watching your videos and I have to pause them and head right over to Amazon to add to my stash. It’s a snow day today and I have all my brand new Art Nouveau water colours, 9 x 12 pads, sponges, stencils and yummy gold paints, oh and water soluble crayons. What a fun couple of weeks it has been. I have only painted one watercolour in my life, flowers from a learn watercolour book, but these abstracts are right up my street.
Haha.. I have a love/hate relationship with green gold.. sometimes it works and sometimes not.. I think I love the name more than anything 🤣... I'm addicted to fun art supplies and acquiring more... and experimenting with them... so I'm definitely no help if you are trying not to get more. 😁

So inspiring! I love watching your videos. For markmaking over watercolors or acrylics, I love to use heavy body acrylic paint and my debit card. I slide the edge through the paint then use it to get random straight lines in my mixed media pieces. I sometimes create a fan by keeping the corner of the card in the same place and moving the card a few degrees.

My color always runs under the stencil. I use a paint roller now. Without any pressure. Just roll over the stencil. That works fine. Even when the color is to liquid.

How beautiful. I found some great stencils at the Dollar Tree. They had interesting designs and just the right size. You never know where you can find mark making tools. My husband has laid ceramic tile for over 30 years and when I go to Home Depot with him I see a lot of interesting supplies. He looks at them one way and I see them another way. Lol. @@KMercure I haven't done any traditional swatching videos anywhere. I just swatch them in my painter's diary and I might have shown that - but I couldn't say where that might have been. I did over 250 videos last year. They run together for me.

I have the brass nib. How do clean yours? I had an issue with paint drying in the groves. But I love it. These are beautiful.

Using my husband's computer right now (Rani here instead of Max). I loved reading all of the comments prior to voicing my own--I was just commenting to Max on what an infectious spirit/demeanor you have. And according to what I read below, I'm not the only one thinking so. Hah! Love the colors you used today. I have been taking watercolor classes at our community college and am loving learning about the interplay of water with the pigments. Really enjoying using water-soluble graphite (thanks to you!). Have you tried the Richeson metallic graphite? Leaves a lovely sparkle. Also...your birthday today--is that correct? 🎂

I love this and really want to try it. Do you ever use a glass pen? If you do....do you have a video showing how to use it correctly. I have a problem having enough ink stick to it to get anywhere. Thank you Denise.
I got a glass pen - to try it with the gold ink. I couldn't get the ink to stick to the pen, then I promptly chipped it the 1st time I tried to use it. So suffice to say... I don't like the glass pens. 🤪

oops another comment mzzzzz D..Im looking for the brush you started out with and thought it was a Raphael...but...is it the Neptune 4?
That was a brush I got from St. Louis Art Supply - Vintage Watercolor Brush, Petit Gris Pur, Quill Mop #2 - (shop.stlartsupply.com/products/vintage-watercolor-brush-petit-gris-pur-quill-mop?_pos=1&_sid=9b81cd2e3&_ss=r&variant=42765097304322) I don't use it that often - I mostly got it to use as a photo prop because it had a pretty handle - but I do love how it works too.
