You have had a major impact on my art. Martin, you could really make a LOT of money, IMHO, by labeling your "silo" city landscapes "Future Martian Colony" landscapes... sell to SpaceX, or simply to SciFi fans like me.
Love this one, Martin. I first started using stick pens and fountain pens to draw when I was about 13 years old (about 60 years ago -yikes!). I have always loved this medium, as well as watercolor, and really love your loose, artful portrayals of these old buildings. I'd love to see more of these types of sketches.
Love the way you paint, love your style, love the way you make tutorials, love the skill to find charismatic places and sat in front of to paint them… THANKS, for sharing!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks very much, Martin!! Your video's are very help full to me. I recently start sketching in your style and it gives me very much satisfaction. I have been suffering from Postcovid complaints for over a year, but since I started drawing it has given me a lot of peace of mind. I enjoy your video's and posts on Instagram. I regularly watch your videos and learn from them again and again. Greetings from Anton | The Netherlands.
First of all let me wish you a speedy recovery and all the best for you! It’s great and motivating for me to read that my little tutorials are helpful in different ways! Thank you so much for your support! Greetings from lower austria! 🖋️👍💯
Thank you, this was a wonderful video. I learned so much. The rain catcher type things are called "gutters" in America. I really appreciate you sharing your process.🙂
@@MartinLachmairArt Happy to help and look forward to the next one! I've purchased that same sketchbook as it gave me less fear of using "good" paper and not making something great. My trees have gotten much better since finding your channel. 😆 You're a great inspiration, truly appreciate you sharing your talent.
Awesome video! I love how your tutorials seems approachable enough to make me fully confident enough while your skill comes through enough to show me where I still need practice
Great! Going out in the next couple weeks to give plein air a try. Only have done it once last fall. The name of the rain catcher on the building is called eavestrough. Thanks again. Love the video.
Precioso muy bonito. Agradecreia para aprender de ti que mostraras la hoja completa con los bordes y como mezclas los colores . Tus tonalidades son magníficas. Gracias de todo corazon
Thank you Martin for the videos. Your art is absolutely amazing. Can you please make a full video from start to finish with a reference photo frozen in one of the corner for full video. That will allow real time comparison and your thought process.
@@MartinLachmairArt Also, more of the full video in real time, start to finish of sketching and colouring like "Let's draw together" will be very helpful. Thank you in advance
Fantastic artwork. At the beginning - you show Your first sketch *made from imagination* is brilliant. & Your main sketch of the shed is excellent. Keep sharing. Happy (post) Easter 2024 everyone
Thank you Martin. Am going to have a go at this. Also a great tip about the sketchbook. I waste so much expensive watercolour paper and always worry about using less thick /heavy paper but these types of sketches use little water so i guess they are fine!
That’s all we do in the beginning: to be too much focused on specific tools, of course it’s an important part of it but most important is to practice and have fun with it! 👍🖋️
Eavestrough. A trough (pronounced TROFF) that lies below the eaves. Love the drawing. My brush pen ink isn’t 100% waterproof but the diffusion of ink adds to the effect. These are great exercises to do when time is limited and we all need practice. (I do, anyway!)
It's amazing how the watercolor looks so good in that not-a-watercolor-sketchbook. The result is even better than my cheap watercolor sketchbook 😅 I have a similar sketchbook like this though it is 100gsm, maybe I'll try watercolor on it next time.
Ted Wesson used the rough edges in his ink drawings. I try to do the same,,,,,,,,...... but can't get to his standard ,,I use the sketchers ink German Make)... acrylic inks very good also thanks for your video take care love you all Alan
I really like your style…thanks for posting the things you do. I have one question: how does that lightweight paper not buckle and pool the paint when you add watercolor? Vielen dank!
Are you doing any workshops etc in Poland this year? I'm planning to go visit Poland at some point this year to try and trace my ancestry. My father immigrated to Canada after WWII.
@@AndreyShlyahovThe carbon Platinum is for fountain pens. It will not clog your pen unless you let it sit without use for a few weeks, some say a month at most. If you're not going to use it for a few weeks I would recommend emptying the pen and cleaning it for storage.
My biggest problem is lack of patience, I think it comes from a worklife mindset where everything has a deadline. I've found it so hard to relax and enjoy drawing .
well, I had the same problem in my younger years, but then maybe take a style where you can go very quick and very loose. so maybe this is more fun in your case. 🖋️👍 because the most important thing is to find everybody’s own way like your handwriting.

Nice work Martin. It was a visit in POLAND?
Very interesting! But why doesn't wet watercolor wash away the ink strokes?
Thank you! I use waterproof ink, in this case it’s „sketch ink” by rohrer und klingner. Or you can use „carbon ink” by platinum.
