The really amazing thing is how these 20-year olds, from a Liverpool so distant from the bolero birthplace, Cuba, with no direct influence, managed to incarnate the exact sound and feel of a Cuban trio. And this after listening to the Peggy Lee version, which although somewhat "latinized" is light-years away from what the Beatles managed to do. Magic? Talent? Capacity to absorb from any stye? By the truckload!
As to Rusty´s solo, yes, it is not note for note and I would always always play it like he original, but it is very respectful and close to the original. A couple extra rhythmic strums here and there but in very good taste.
After all, if you listen and compare the Beatles recorded version with the live video in this section, George himself changed not the notes, but the tempo of his own solo.

It's so apparent why Paul recorded this song on "With The Beatles" because I'm sure when he first heard it as a kid, he knew it was something that he would've wrote.

Obviously Paul loved this song ever since he recorded it in 1963.
The song dates back to 1950; later used in the Music Man on Broadway; been covered by many greats; and still terribly sweet!

Gorgeous rendition of this timeless song and props to the guitarist who gives a beautiful variation on George’s original jazzy masterful take. It actually has a very bossa nova Brazilian jazz feel, which I love. Thank you for sharing this version. 🎶❤️🎶

That is a great song: so many kinky chords, rhythms, fills, and the lead, whatever version, fits perfectly. Of course, Sir Paul sings like an angel, so this song, all in all, is perfect. (It took me many, many years as a wannabe Beatle to arrive at the point where I can fully appreciate the beauty and complexity of this song. Before it was: "Ah, man, let's do 'Come Together' or 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' or 'I'm Down.'")

There were bells on a hill
But I never heard them ringing
No, I never heard them at all
    Till there was you
There were birds in the sky
But I never saw them winging
No, I never saw them at all
    Till there was you
Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows
    Of dawn and dew
    There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No, I never heard it at all
    Till there was you
Then there was music and wonderful roses
They tell me in sweet fragrant meadows
    Of dawn and dew
    There was love all around
But I never heard it singing
No, I never heard it at all

The absolute greatest band that has ever lived. THE BEATLES!!!!! I remember when this first ablum came out and I bought it at 12 years old, I listened to this song and thought, Why? Then I realized how great they were with samba beats, accordians and other instuments I'd only heard in concert bands.

I had the "meet the beatles" record (was my brothers) when I was like 6, knew all the words to all the songs. The family was driving in the car one day and this song came on the radio (77 WABC). I sang all the way thru and when the song ended my mother turned to me and said " Too bad you don't your arithmetic like that!" I still have that old, scratched up album without the cover.
