The man stands in front of 50,000 (or more?) people - in a simple tee shirt, strumming a simple guitar, singing all by himself to a song he wrote 40 years ago, and everyone is entranced and near tears at the greatness of the man.

    • @pamalojo

Years ago in an interview Paul McCartney argued that the lasting influence of the Beatles was positive because the message was love. At the time, when I thought myself very cool and superior, I scoffed at what sounded to me sentimental and kitchy, but getting older and following the cruelty and cynicism of poltiicans and religious fantatics, then listening to this much loved song again and watching the reactions of the audience here, I am coming to the conclusion that he was right.

Who knows how long I've loved you,
You know I love you still,
Will I wait a lonely lifetime,
If you want me to I will.
For if I ever saw you,
    I didn't catch your name,
    But it never really mattered,
I will always feel the same.
    Love you forever and forever,
    Love you with all my heart;
    Love you whenever we're together,
    Love you when we're apart.
And when at last I find you,
Your song will fill the air,
Sing it loud so I can hear you,
Make it easy to be near you,
For the things you do endear you to me,
    you know I will.
    I will.

The Beatles are unsurpassed in everything they did and even to this day are found by new fans all over the World. .

I was 10 when my friend Steve invited me over to his house. We sat on the couch in his den and he showed me a new album and on the back were all these different pictures of the Beatles and we were deciding which one was who and there is one picture that does not show any face just the back of the head. I remember it like it was yesterday. We understood at 10 how special this new eagerly awaited album was. It was a Hard Day's Night.

I've been listening to this song for over 50 years now! It is so simple, so basic and so musically predictable BUT even with all that, it is still unforgettablel and the melody is totally unique and just perfectly likeable. It's like one of those small handful of delicious flavors that you've loved your whole life, is like no other and you never get tired of tasting it again and again... like chocolate and raspberries.

My uncle was a life long fan from the minute he heard the Beatles, before they even hit the US. I was 3 at the time. He passed away a couple of years ago, but sometimes when I see a song I still post it on his web page, as do many other people. I posted this video on his birthday because of the love in the audience. He would have liked that. Thank you for making it available.

I have loved Paul my entire life, and always "I will". I wonder if he can even fathom how much pleasure he has brought to so many people around the world, and comfort when they've been down, and joy at remembering a childhood memory that is connected to any one of his songs. He doesn't need to tour anymore; he certainly has plenty of money, but he does it to please his fans and give them what they so desperately want--to see him in person, and hear him perform. He was given a divine gift, and he shares it with the world.

When Sir Paul finally passes on, I expect a small part of me will die too. I was a kid in the 1960s. I remember Kennedy and King, the Green Bay Packers and the Boston Celtics/Bill Russell, the magnificent Cassius Clay, the Civil Rights Act, the first human heart transplant, the birth control pill and the Apollo moon landing. Remarkable decade. But most of all, I vividly remember- and I'll never forget- the Fab Four. They may not have changed the world, but they changed the way a lot of people looked at it.
