Use "Ser" verb when talking about something permanant like your name, sex, place of birth etc. Use "Estar" when talking about something that can change like where you're going on holiday, your body temperature and so on. E.g Estoy frio = I am cold. I used "Estoy" because I won't be cold forever. "Soy Jose" = I am Joe. I used _Soy_ because my name will always be Joe. I'm a beginner but I hope this helps someone!
You right but Its weird estoy frío... We usted to say Tengo frio" thats why "Im cold in spanish is an idiom, un modismo... They (modismos) have to be learn by heart
@@EnglishA-kd9st Thanks for the help!
I thought it was yo tengo frio, yo tengo hambre etc...
@@DDiaz-xi4sl It is.
what if you change your name
Duolingo didn’t break this down. Thanks a lot. I will be buying the course soon
It has suddenly occurred to me that a significant aspect to comprehension is familiarity and prediction; in our native tongue we can generally predict and interpret along with what’s being said. When we’re unfamiliar with a language, we generally have no idea what’s about to be said and we don’t begin to fully interpret until after the sentence is completed. Then we’re struggling trying to remember all the words that were spoken and trying to interpret each word individually after the fact.
Great feedback!
Very well said.
This is deep
That makes perfect sense
Yup
i want to learn spanish - at least basics
I've never visited an English speaking country (i've lived in Russia my whole life) - but somehow i've learned english watching various tv series with subtitles, reading books, articles and all that - no tutors, paid courses or anything like that. Now it's time to learn spanish, i really like how it sounds and how it's phonetically consistent (much like russian)
I already have started to watch spanish movies with english subtitles for time being, but planning to watch it with spanish subs soon. There's going to be a lot of pausing and looking up words in vocabulary at first - something i like doing
Learning languages gives me joy!
I hope this channel will help me!
Thanks for watching, we will do our best to help you reach the level you want to get to!
Я училось русский язык а теперь я учусь испанский язык
If I could give you five stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I would. Three years of Spanish class and couldn’t lick a wall with the words on my tongue. 20 minutes here and it’s connecting!
This would be a two year lesson in school, in a language book they make this confusing, but with you 20:29, straight to the point and easy to understand. You're a genius.
Gracias Maestro.
True !!
15 more times to go to rewatch this video. This is the CORE
You're a good teacher. Your work is much appreciated!
Learning all the tenses together like this is very useful. Language Transfer has a good tip for "Ser" and "Estar" which is "Characteristic or State." And you are so right when I get stuck I just use the infinitive and someone will correct me. Spanish people are super helpful.
I remember watching your basketball drills when I was in middle school and now you are back again helping me get better in Spanish in college lol! Thanks for all the help throughout the years! Much appreciated!
Really? I don't see him doing basketball drills, can u let me know where?
That it must've been amazing to watch !!
crazy cause i knew i recognized this guy lmaoo
Ah man, thank you for doing this! Also, I like the way you break down the difference between the preterite and the imperfect.
Super helpful ved all verds that I was struggling with
Babel doesn't break down the verbs like this and it was so helpful
Nope :) Thanks for watching!
Sweet
My hat is off to you .
Thank you. You're a prince of lessons.
Muchas gracias amigo!
Thank you for the chart and the presentation of the tenses together. I needed to see the overview of these verbs.
exelente video bro, saludos a todos los que estudian español 👍👍
Epaa !! 🥳👍🏻
The voy +a+ ir. Blew my mind!! What a great way to learn that tense without memorizing a new conjugation!! Thank you!
Love this video, thank you pero, where is the link to the cheat sheet?
Traveling to Bogota, Colombia in a few months and I want to be in a much better place with my Spanish skills. This video helped tremendously. I struggle with when to use Estar VS Ser (BIG time) and por VS para. But I think I will take your advice of sticking with Ir a + the infinitive.
I like this video to learn spanish.Thank so much sir.
This was so helpful! Thank you so much, and I will have to revisit this video again
Thank God I watch this video on how to conjugate the Spanish verb tener as future tense... I'm watching a Netflix series called cable girl and they're definitely using future tense of tener
Thank you so much for your help. God bless you
Probably best content I’ve seen so far 👍🏽
Gracias Dr!! Thanks so much for watching!
Been looking for this breakdown. Like the comment below. Duolingo doesn't break it down this way that's why I follow you and Spanish butterfly. I'm going to Colombia for Thanksgiving so this is perfecto!
Worth watching several times,thanks Rocky!
Excellent, clear. I like instant examples.
Thank you King this was very helpful
Very helpful....gracias.... I have been looking up verb conjugations lately & it was So dificil to find the future tense of ir! All kinds of other tenses ( not all of Ir , of course) ie present participle, present subjunctive, imperfect indicative, future indicative, preterite indicative, past participle, peterite perfect , conditional perfect, pluperfect....OMG !! My English grammar is good but I don’t even know the names of all the tenses in English! I appreciate your simplifications & explanations or I would have already given up.
That's why we have no future auxiliar... It's a different word for evey person... I mean... In English is well go, Spanish, iremos I'll go, iré, they will go, Iran, you'll go, iras and so on Imma upload a video of ir... And remember that subjunctive does not exist in English.. You killed many years ago... You use infinite in spite of subjunctive
Awesome
Video. Thanks
Hello I was wondering if u can do a presentation about the conjugations of ir, er, and ar in past, present, and future because I’m getting really confused about these verdes and I was wondering if u can help us out thank you your videos are awesome y también eres el mejor gracias

Great video...thanx
Do you have best book for studing. Any recommendations .¿Tienes el mejor libro para estudiar? Alguna recomendación
Where are the slides?
Former Spanish teacher here☺️...what do you recommend for students who are doing various online programs to get these tenses memorized? I am a little old school and that when I taught Spanish one for an entire school year I would do present tense, present progressive, and intro to the preterite and imperfect in the spring with intentions of reviewing in the fall and then hitting preterite in perfect and future pretty hard in second year.
I love the idea of giving them the ability to memorize these and unrecognize these verbs in the beginning . My thought is how much time to spend on each regular verb, then the irregular verbs, etc? Especially right now I have a lot of friends who want me to help their students through some of these online programs where they're just churning out answers but have zer o retention of the verb forms so how to get them to memorize these in the time I have with them or what tips to give them for the time when they're studying on their own.
Hey Sandra, great question here... knowing how much time is difficult, have you ever thought of teaching ALL the verb forms at once for just 1 word? Or maybe a regular word and an irregular word? Also, I would recommend students try to reverse the process once they understand Spanish a little better, so instead of learning a verb tense, maybe see it first, try to figure out what's the right tense and then explain why they are correct or incorrect. Those are a few of my thoughts.
@@SpeakSpanishFaster thank you! I'm going to be tutoring some kids in the coming weeks and trying to decide if it makes sense to do something like this or if they're already just so confused as it is if I just need to stick with one verb tense at a time . thank you for your suggestions and I will definitely consider that approach for if I get a teaching job sometime in the future!
Gracias!!!
Esto es muy útil.
Gracias!
very good video hermano ...muchas gracias ...Subscribed your Channel already ...muchas gracias otra vez ...salud 🥂de India.
When would you use the fui chart?
Hi there: A note about the tenses: Imperfect is exactly what it means: An action that has no definite ending in the past... it's sort of the past continuous in English : I was eating (in French je mangeais, in German it's the preterite (ich ass, ich spielte)... the timeframe is unclear. Preterite in English: I ate (between 12 and 2 pm), Freanch je mangeai (without the s it's pronounced the same way, can also bbe the passé composé j'ai mangé, or the German ich habe gegessen...)
It's complicated, but I teach German, and the kids get the message quickly when I explain why the Germans call a tense "perfekt" ...
Hey...I know you from your basketball tips vids..👍
Do you have these flash cards somewhere
My Spanish teacher is great, but you might be a little better. Thanks 👍🏿
Great explanation
Handsome too:)
Lol muchas gracias
So basically me voy a + ir (infinitive) tener= I will have means the same thing as.....yo tendré (I will have). Is there any right time or wrong time or it does not matter and based on preference?
Ohh shit!!! Ozuna was using future tense of estar in his song Del Mar with Sia and Doja Cat. "(Yo Estaré) 'Taré soñando yo."
So when do you use the tenses of ser and when do you use the estar tenses if ser and estar both mean to be???
Is there a website i could use to practice these with worksheets or something , instead of watching the video over and over?
i luv you rocky
I love you too :)
Me gustar la forma en que aprendes . Pero quero aprender espanol rapido pero siento que no puedo ! Me puedes qyudar?
Sorry I couldn’t find the slides and I really need them
What tense would you use to say something like "I go to the store every Tuesday" ?
U would use present tense
Where is the link for the slides?????
What is the difference in me voy,ya me voy,voy and not estoy voy
I wanted to know is there 1 on 1 conversation exercises in your program?
What do you mean?
Where is the link of the slides????????????
Heck yes
So how does the person you talking to know if you mean to say was/were or went????
Because you use a different word for each tense and one for each person too.
Te recomendaría usar en tus intros una frace mas conocida en mexico, como por ejemplo "hola, que tal?" O "bienvenidos a un video mas para el canal", son cosas sencillas pero suenan mejor xd
jaja soy boricua y eso es como hablamos PERO voy a pensar en eso pa ver si lo cambio ;)
This is really going to help me to move to another level of comprehension. Please email me the slides! Spklv99@aol.com
Please email me the slides..thanks 😊
where is the vosotros?
Vosotros is rarely used unless you're in Spain, I think.
I never knew Spanish was so mathematical
🌸🌸🌸🌸
Bruh what about all the other conjugations last i checked ser alone has like 10forms or something xd it's so confusing
whose watching this right before a Spanish exam? lol
LOL
you missed out vosotros
U missed out vosostros
Does the average native speaker of Spanish know all these conjugations for all the verbs?
Yes, we do, since a very young age, at school, we learn all the conjugations. We take the Spanish subject, not to learn Spanish, but rather to learn the grammar for a correct use of the language.Of course, we learn to speak it at home, but we learn how to use it correctly at school.
Sometimes I hear people say that it's not necessary to learn all the tenses because not all of them are used in daily speech, well, let me tell you that they're wrong.Although there are certain tenses that are used less frequently, you won't be totally fluent if you don't learn and use them all.
Just as the average native speaker of English (or any other language) know the conjugations for verbs like go, have, be (am, is, are, was, be etcetera)
WAIT SO SER AND ESTAR CHAGE IN ALL THE OTHER TENSES TOO?!?!
Lol unfortunately they do Zachary :) lol
Well crap. I have one more question please, since there are 12 tenses which ones are actually used?

You are the best
Thanks so much for the PDF. Your videos are great and helps fill in gaps of Spanish tutoring 🙌🏽. You’re awesome dude
15:22 Spanish is so intimidating. In English it's just "had" for the Preterite of Tener. Sigh this is gonna take forever to learn lol.. at least the nouns and other stuff are easy to pick up except having to genderize and pluralize articles, adjectives.. you really have to think about what you are gonna say before you say the sentence to get all the gender the plurality right fior all the words in a sentence.. English is so easy in this respect.. simple conjugations, nouns don't have gender.. adjectives don't have gender or plurality when describing plural nouns. lol
Spanish conjugation follows patterns, it's not just random words, and once you understand those patterns, it all becomes easier to learn.I'm a native speaker of Spanish, and for me, the most intetesting and beautiful aspect of it is conjugation. If I were a non native speaker of Spanish wanting to learn it, I'd think of conjugation as a jigsaw puzzle, where each conjugated form of the verb would be a piece. This would make learning this language much more fun to learn.
@@gerlautamr.656 Thanks I am gettign into it more since I posted that! :) I am just gonna keep progressing through duolingo tree until done, then start immersing myself watching shows and reading articles all in spanish eveyr day :)
@@gerlautamr.656 I am really liking Apple TV since they provide both Spanish Audio and Spanish Subtitles for movies originally filmed in English.
So we went from basketball to Spanish
i think u missed vosotros
In latin american countries like Colombia Mexico El Salvador etc they dont Use Vosotros they Use Nosotros because only people in Spain use Vosotros even in class they skip over Spain Spanish and Focus on Latin American Spanish as the Two are Very Different from each other
why is he so confusing...all i hear is yoeranominomegustariatueraseyerausteduederaeraustedenostor
No Vosotros? Vosotras?
Next time!
I thought all puerto Ricans spoke spanish
I mean, Puerto Ricans living in Puerto Rico do lol.
