I can't believe how great these podcasts are! Articulate and interesting and well researched. You have a great voice and I love the "backstage" afterthoughts that you add at the end. Feels friendly and chummy. Thanks again! I'm addicted to this channel!
Oh that's really very kind, thank you so much! There's a lot more chat in the itunes/audio podcast versions, I try to keep youtube as short as possible, I had a co-host for a while and we would have a good chat about things at the end. Anyway, the bulk of things are here. Thanks so much again for listening and your kind words, I'm glad you enjoy it!
I've just recently found this channel & I've binge watched many of your videos-you do great work. Thank you. This episode is hands down my favorite so far.
I heard this case off dad with a phone who lives in Woodland Park. Appears there are lots of unexplained/ unsolved murders in the area for such a small community.
Could it have to do with drinking/ gambling den in which Josh was found? According to the owner, the cabin was empty for ten years----- that might be the truth; but couldve been a part of drag trafficking route.
Do you know the names of the other victims in woodland park? I’d like to look into them. I think I heard that the guy who fell behind the refrigerator at the small grocery store in the area and it took them like a decade to find him. Seems weird.
Holy shit that's bad form 😑 to be honest, I didn't realise any ads were running. I have the channel monetized but UA-cam flags everything as inappropriate for advertising. Who is inappropriate now UA-cam 😂
Today it’s an ad for aspen dental. Maybe it’s just random? Being someone with an extremely dark sense of humor, I found it funny. I’ve also seen ads about national parks on David Paulides videos and a Carnival Cruise ad on Titanic videos.
As to the question posed at about 20:30, for what reason Chuck Murphy could have to lie about the grate on his chimney... liability laws and wrongful death suits in America. There have been cases where burglars breaking into a home have injured themselves (like on glass from a window they broke) and sued the homeowner and won. It wouldn't be surprising if the homeowner feared being sued, if this kid crawled down, or up, a chimney in an abandoned cabin he owned, and died while doing it. That being said, I don't think Chuck Murphy is lying about this, but that would be a reason as to *why* he would lie about it.
It doesn't sound as if it could have been an accident. Shocking that 'Andy' wasn't investigated much much more. Actually, the way the whole case was mishandled is shocking. I also feel angry that those in authority were so deliberately incompetent.
I totally agree with you! How does that coroner keep his job. My God, talk about lazy idiots. It’s a hassle for them. They might have to do their jobs.
One would think that if you have fallen down a chimney in a bad way, you would do something like try to climb out if you can't get out through the fire place into the house itself. I would love to see what his hands and arms had looked like when found. Stuck in a chimney, alive, I would suspect wounds from trying to escape. I'd say he was dead when put there.
Both of his hips were disarticulated : impossible injury if he climbed down there himself. Disarticulated means pulled out of sockets, only held together by flesh but no longer attached to skeleton. Someone broke his body ( likely post mortem) - in order to make him fit. This “ Andy” person allegedly stuffed a woman into a barrel - maybe it’s a thing with him putting people into “ holes”- like it was a thing with Fred West.
No way. That would be so obviously spurious. They could waste the time and perhaps money to introduce it, but it wouldn’t get them anywhere. Perhaps inadvertently bring more attention to the case and get it reopened as a criminal investigation, but that’s it.
if Josh had been inching his way (either up or down) the chimney, with his back against one wall and his feet or knees against the other; if he had slipped, he could have become wedged with his feet above his head. He could have died of positional asphyxia . Look up "chimney sweep" in Wikipedia and scroll down to the Great Britain heading with drawing of how boys got stuck in chimneys .
What was dragged in front of the fire place? I keep hearing “breakfast bar.” Idk if it’s because of his accent or this is some thing they only have in Colorado because a breakfast bar is definitely not big enough to block a chimney
Seems to me he didn't die of hypothermia, but more likely by positional asphyxiation. Being wedged in such a tight place. Breathing would become difficult as he was upside down, struggling to un wedge himself which would further wedge him into the chimney. The further he got wedged the harder it would be for his diaphragm and his lungs to expand to get enough oxygen. With each exhalation of breath, the tighter wedged he became. A slow death. The Dilly case is very reminiscent of this case. His jacket was found in front of the fireplace. Very sad.
I think Andy may have dared josh to try going down the chimney. Andy could have told josh he would hold Josh’s ankles and would pull Josh out if the chimney turned out to be too narrow. Andy could have helped Josh get into the chimney while josh was still clothed. Once josh was so far into the chimney, Andy could have easily taken Josh’s shoes, socks, shorts/pants and underwear (assuming josh wasn’t wearing a thong or speedo or something like that). On the other hand Andy wouldn’t have been able to take Josh’s shirt bc Andy wouldn’t have been able to reach Josh’s shirt and a shirt has to be pulled off from above the head. This would explain why the Reddit guy said Josh was naked from the waist down. After taking Josh’s clothes, Andy could have gone back inside, folded them and left them. Josh may have originally been completely vertical and relaxed into a fetal position after being left there. I guess it would be interesting to know whose finger prints were inside of the house. Maybe Josh was under the impression that they needed to get inside of the cabin for some reason and Andy talked him into trying the chimney, all the while Andy had an easier way to get in. Maybe Andy thought Josh could probably get out and this is why he left the clothes. Obviously I could be way off. It just seems totally implausible that anyone would 1) go down the chimney head-first & half naked or 2) go up the chimney feet-first & half naked. This would explain how he could have ended up there without doing either.
Not a bad hypothesis, it’s strange someone would kill him and remove his clothing, save for just the shirt - then attempt to shove the body feet first up a chimney, while leaving the clothing folded neatly at the scene, unless there’s more than one suspect and they were somehow able to carry the body up to the roof and drop him in and/or Joshua removed his own clothing. It’s somehow more heart wrenching to think that they might have been exploring and some accident or cruel prank resulted in a sketched-out or downright-sadistic Adam just leaving him there instead of getting help. I suppose it would be something of an introductory lesson for a young killer to leave someone in that situation and let natural forces like exposure do the job for them. The truth will come out eventually, on the long list of unsolved crimes this is a very fresh case.
Thanks for posting...you sound English, but that means nothing if you live in another country. But what about the case of my friend Fiona Saunders, a young mum who was beaten to death in 1986 in Church Crookham, Hampshire. And was the reason her case has almost been completely buried because one of the suspects became a police officer after?
If you see this after so long, I looked up your friend's name to read about the case. Very oddly (or maybe not) there is virtually nothing on the Web about her. What a cover up there must be for almost nothing to be on the Web about such a case. Again, my genuine sympathies.
I’ve waited for over two years to suggest the following hypothesis because I wanted to confirm the cause of Joshua’s brothers suicide. I cannot find anything on it and it’s just time to put this out there into the datasphere of people sleuthing this case. (This is posted on John Lordan’s video as well) This case is a brainscratch. That being said and with absolutely zero disrespect toward the family & the deceased there’s one hypothesis I’ve never seen considered. Either rape, attempted rape or a confused sexual liason gone wrong. For a number of obvious social stigma reasons it’s not exactly dinner table conversation but more late high school or early college age males experiment with sexual identity than many Americans are comfortable discussing. For myriad reasons that need not be elaborated on here same sex encounters between younger men can sometimes devolve quickly into violence or rage or both. Again because my hypothesis is borderline I’ll be very cursory in supposition. One or even two potential partners enter the cabin with the victim. There could’ve been drinking because after so many years & the level of decomposition of the deceased’s remains, alcohol is hard to detect. Some level of sexual activity takes place that devolved into the victim being “blamed” or “targeted” for behavior that may have been initially consensual. Some modicum of violence ensues. And the poor victim is either murdered or rendered unconscious and stuffed up into the smoke ledge region of the chimney. The “heavy furniture” is then replaced and the attacker(s) leave. Keeping with the sex scenario it could’ve also devolved to the victim needing to immediately escape for his safety and flee the attacker(s) in a strange state of undress. He cannot run for the hills as he has no shoes, pants nor briefs so in a split second of panic he opts for an a attempted escape onto the roof. Depending on state of mind he may have even attempted to retrieve his clothes by utilizing the chimney? Although that’s getting into muddier water and more spitballing than I care to extrapolate. This may be a ridiculous hypothesis. Or it may be precisely what happened. In my youth 30 years ago I was the recipient of more than one boozy confession from friends about “weird shit” they tried and essentially back then (late 80’s) the stigma alone could absolutely drive a bifurcated passion from sexual pursuit to murder. Statistics indicate casual same sex encounters (or what used to be termed “cruising” ) too often have ended in violence or murder from coast to coast. All one need do is examine how the Dahmers, the John Wayne Casey’s and even what police supposed re: the Zodiac killers of our wayward world were and what motivated their heinous crimes. The human mind can be very dark indeed. In conclusion, and as stated above, it is neither my wish nor intent to superimpose inappropriate suggestions on the deceased but I’ve been aware of this case for 3-4 years and have never read anyone else throw these possibilities on the table. This case, like Elisa Lam, is puzzling, grim and sad in equal measure.
you should have sooooo many more subscribers...fuck sake....but no, they want Jake fucking paul and other BULLSHIT.....good channel man, and great content....never stop.
This is what i thought bc of the clothes being outside the chimney but he had a thermal shirt on , i thought maybe sexual acts and something went bad, i read he and this andy kid had been spending alot of time alone beforehand....
You’re awfully judgmental for a random jackass on the internet with no relation to the case or the individual whatsoever. It’s easy to flap your gums from such a distance when you’re so far removed.
This case has always made me extremely uneasy.

The boy from Ohio, Harley Dilly was just found in a chimney of a house under renovation and when I heard that I thought of this. Creepy.
I quite appreciate the straightforward way you present these. Cheers.

Ooh a new unexplained/unsolved channel, excellent! I’ve seen this story before but you told it brilliantly. You deserve loads more subs. Thank you.
+Nicky Higby thank you so much!
Excellent Pod cast! Good luck I agree w/the previous post! This is so proffessional!
So true my dear
This podcast ep has more info than some of the 1M view videos on UA-cam. Great writing and research!

Such a heartbreaking story thank you
I totally agree with you! How does that coroner keep his job. My God, talk about lazy idiots. It’s a hassle for them. They might have to do their jobs.
Sounds like both the coroner & the police put 2 & 2 together: and come up with 25! I'd love to ask would it impossible to ask them actually think!!!

High grade podcast very intelligent story telling and well spoken ! Thanks the best I’ve come by on y-tube y🌈🌞🌝
Interesting and entertaining. Thank you for your videos and time.
Love your pods. I wonder how anyone could be a peace with this he was murdered for sure
Just found your channel. So far I'm loving it. Give me a minute to catch up!
I'd love for you to do a vid on Brandon Lawson from San Angelo, Texas. Missing under extremely weird circumstances. Check the case out please...ty
IM A CHIC I love ur profile pic

Of course the owner is freaked out. The family could sue him in civil court in a wrongful death suit.
No way. That would be so obviously spurious. They could waste the time and perhaps money to introduce it, but it wouldn’t get them anywhere. Perhaps inadvertently bring more attention to the case and get it reopened as a criminal investigation, but that’s it.
this case has cover up written all over it

There’s no way he went in through the top. The metal grate was built into the masonry.
Who’s stuck a breakfast bar against the chimney to prevent body being found, Ghost of Christmas Past?
Another great video really well done
The coroner got his job because none of his patients ever complained.
excellent show! btw have you ever heard of the 1972 jeannette depalma case out of new jersey? very strange.
Oh, I've not but I will certainly look it up, thanks!
What was dragged in front of the fire place? I keep hearing “breakfast bar.” Idk if it’s because of his accent or this is some thing they only have in Colorado because a breakfast bar is definitely not big enough to block a chimney
Sounds like a kitchen island or other big piece of removable counter.

Can you do a video of Kyron Horman I believe his stepmother killed him but curious to know what you can find out. Thanks
+omgXALYSSAXomg thanks for the suggestion, I've never heard of that so I'll definitely look it up and put it on the list!
I've always wondered what the outcome of his case was. Never found him, eeww.
the problem is coroners are elected public officials that don't necessarily need medical experience. it's unreal
Obviously Andy killed Josh, doesn’t sound like a mystery, but it does smell like a coverup.
listening from the ukwales 2021❤️

At what point does a coroner’s willfully obtuse attitude start to seem suspicious? Small town, who knows how many of his relatives are named “Adam.”
