I’m actually at the point right now I’m trying to figure out a shelter situation for backpack hunting. Just curious what made you go with this versus a traditional lightweight backpacking tent?
A few things lead me to my decision. First, I already have a not so light weight Kelty 2 person dome tent I can use if I knew the weather is going to be completely trash. I wanted a light option tent or tarp option I could use for backpack hunt were I know I’m going to be carrying camp with me or carrying it in really deep and want to save weight. It was an added bonus that this tarp you can add additional elements to it like the mesh liner. I imagine it will make the transition easier from tent life to tarp life in the future much easier. My main use for this is going to be archery elk and the weather conditions that typically come with that I felt this was a good option.
Man your buying all the gear I want haha, I went hammock this year, love it but not with the dog, she will sleep under on the ground, but being in Grizz/cougar/wolf country not happening.
Man, 6’5”, honestly I’d say probably not comfortably. With the mesh liner it would be tight unless your a side sleeper and sleep bent knee. In my opinion
When the storms come your getting trashed. Try it with the garden hose. If the material is like most of these light weight tents WHEN ANYTHING touches it water will wick through at that spot. Good Luck
First night in Colorado I did get thrashed with 25+ mph wind, lots of rain and snow. The tent held up just fine and kept me dry. I did have some condensation build up on the inside of the tarp due to the cold weather but the mesh and floor stayed dry. I would not take this tarp if I knew the weather was going to be soggy for multiply days.
Just curious, how hard would it be to squeeze two grown men in the tent (including individual sleeping systems)?
For a side access tarp like modular shelter, check out the Seek Outside LBO. I love mine!
I don’t dislike this one, but I do love a side entrance…

Awesome video by the way!

Do you wish it had a bathtube floor or does it not matter with a tarp tent?
It depends, with the insert like I have inside it has a bathtub floor, but if you want to go ultralight you can just go with the tarp.
You can get a bivy with a bathtub floor instead. That’s my plan.

How has the tarp held up?
It’s help up great now through 2 seasons.
I'm 6'5 would I fit in this tent?

So this is the Sling Fin Split Wing.
It was a joint venture - the tents are identical apart from the colour.

Jeff Cordero good u stayed dry. Most of these type rigs are basically useless in a rain storm. Must be a fine quality material & construction. 👍👍👀
