Very informative video. Have you recently joined the retirement club? If so, YES, it is all that it is cracked up to be.....even if I am only "semi" retired...troubles, troubles, which day do I cut the lawn, which day do I watch Hawaii Five O all day??😁
Thanks Felix, and yes, I have been fully retired since April 2023. I love your troubles, haha! Book em Danno!
@@StevesStrayStuff Congrats!!
Steve, you're living large with great tunes. Love it. How did you get the ethernet to connect. My Node seems to only look at the Wi-Fi. Jeff
Hi Jeff. An Ethernet connection will automatically override the wireless connection. If you open the Bluos app, go to Help and then Diagnostics, your Node will show up there, but if you have more than one device, you have to select which device you want to look at. If there no wireless symbol, you are on Ethernet, if you see the wireless symbol and signal strength, then you are on wireless. I have three of my players set up for wireless and then plugged them into Ethernet and the players automatically switched over to Ethernet.
Hi Steve. Always a pleasure to see another video from you.
Question: are there any specific reasons you chose Bluesound instead of Sonos?
Sonos seems to be the most popular multi-room sound device these days.
This is the first I’ve heard of Bluesound, and it sounds to me like it’s similar to Sonos.
Hi Mike! That is a great question and I will do my best to answer it. I chose the Bluesound Node 2i because I purchased Roon music server software and the Roon software requires a Roon endpoint. A Roon endpoint has to have the Roon Ready Certification. There are numerous products that are Roon Ready and Sonos is also one of them. When I turned up the Roon Core on my QNAP NAS, I needed to find me an nice entry level Roon Ready DAC and the Node 2i is both a DAC and a music streamer that is capable of Hi-Res and MQA. The Bluesound is Hi-Res up to 24-bit/192kHz and supports MQA while Sonos is Hi-Res up to 24-bit/48 kHz and does not support MQA. My personal opinion is that the Bluesound products are better for music quality, while Sonos is better for getting music throughout your entire home more economically. Bluesound can handle a 200,000+ track library, while the Sonos is limited to a 65,000 track library. I hope I answered your question and thanks for watching.
@@StevesStrayStuff Extremely helpful and comprehensive answer. Now it makes perfect sense. You certainly know your stuff when it comes to audio… very impressive. Thanks as always, Steve.
@@theREALmikecheck123 Thanks Mike and you're welcome!
