Gill Gross is first rate analyst. His prediction for this match was really good. He predicted quite correctly that the huge importance of this match for Novak's career won't burden him (like it did in US Open 21 and Wimbledon 23), but will give him extra push.
Match must be played first. When it ends everybody will know who gets a gold medal. Every match is 50- 50 and so long players are on the court, anything can happen.
Novak admitted on Serbian TV today that Alcaraz is the best player in the world today. He said he will have no pressure entering the match tomorrow, but he will give his best shot
I think the motivation is equal. What is primarily at stake is bragging rights of beating the guy on the other side of the net. Cinci in 23 was scary good from Djoker. I predict Carlos will not tighten up this time. 😊.
Bruh, I don't know why you always shade Novak so much..."Carlos kinda gave the Cincy Masters to Novak" -- uh, no. Did you even watch the match or did you just see the 2nd set break and assume Novak can't break back? Novak TOOK that match from Carlos. Alcaraz does not give things away -- he's already destined to be a top-4 all-time player and 20+ GS champion, and I'll admit that he's the favorite tomorrow -- I bet $500 on Alcaraz in straights --- but don't understand why literally every time I watch your videos, there's some disrespect towards Novak. Give the man some flowers here and there -- some neutrality would be appreciated. If I wanted to hear Carlos fanboys, I'd talk to my Spanish friend.
Alcaraz’s hand cramped in the 3rd set breaker btw, and he couldnt hold the racquet properly. Alcaraz would have won that breaker. Djokovic choked like 5 match points before that and was too nervous to close. Alcaraz would’ve closed it even though he missed his chance in the second. I wouldnt say novak TOOK the match…it was one of the greatest matches ever and its a shame alcaraz’s hand cramped.
@@goderer2057 then by the same logic, it’s a shame that Novak had to play Alcaraz WITH A TORN MENISCUS. Not some wimpy cramp. Injuries are part of the game. If he got cramps, that’s on him. Btw, that’s also the only thing that may hold him short of 20+. The ultra high intensity nature of his game has its drawbacks as evidenced by his extensive injury history. So far they’ve all been minor, but he’s young enough to bounce back. Later in his career, no guarantee they’ll all be nicks and bruises and cramps. And you are honest man. I can call you lier too. Any one, actually. So, shut up and let anybody talk for them selvs. If he wins, or looses, it' s his choice to express himself about it. And only his.
In reality of course Novak should feel most pressure due to his age & it being the only trophy left to win. But, it's only every fours years. Alcaraz's best surface is clay & can we guarantee he'll win the gold if Sinner happens to be the favorite in a later stage of their careers or he gets injured? Or even a new tennis star emerges better than Carlos? He should feel pressure due to the limited chances to get the gold. Even Federer only got doubles gold & Novak still hasn't got it at age 37.
I agree with your assessment, although I would love to see Alcaraz take it in two sets. Both players want the gold. For Novak, it's his last chance to win the one title he's missing. For Carlos, there's not only winning the gold but also denying that same gold to Djokovic. It could be another nail in the coffin of the Three Monsters. All the Lost Generations of tennis players who suffered the Reign of Terror of the Big Three have one thing in common: none of them had or has the mental toughness of Rafa, Novak and Carlos. Djokovic beat Musetti because of his mental toughness (and the lack thereof in the case of Lorenzo). The Italian is a fine player, but he lacks that quality that only Nadal, Djokovic and Alcaraz have.
