This is completely wrong. Nole became the goat by outworking and out-training his competition. Roger has more natural talent. Rafa and Carlos are much better natural athletes. Novak is more disciplined and willing to sacrifice more. That is 100% a choice. That’s the difference between them, not any innate “genius.”

Many people, including tennis bloggers, talk about Nadal as if he will retire tomorrow, if not yesterday. I don’t think this is what Nadal has communicated. Maybe it is more what you guys want him to do than what Nadal really wants to do.

Whether he retires or not is irrelevant like how he is now. He is done.

@@Whatreally123 Sure. Ok. That is about his level. My post is about his longevity, not his performance. I hear that the rivalry between Djokovic and Nadal ended 21-19…they don’t know if they will play again one against the other. They can meet again next week at a tournament if Nadal decides to play more. Stating that Nadal will no longer play after the Olympics is an assumption, perhaps a suggestion, not based on evidence. Nadal did not express the desire to retire. Let the man decide. He will choose his way out. It is not up to us to determine when he should retire.

@@NotbecauseIcoudnt sure. His retirement is upto him. But the way things are going, he won't even play a grand slam unless given a wild card entry. And Novak or any other top player won't play a 250. It's almost impossible for nadal to meet Novak in any tournament cos he won't even qualify for it. He's currently 159 as shown on the atp website. He can do whatever he wants but he's as good as retired if you look from a competitive lens.

@@Whatreally123 if your crystal ball is correct, then your troubles are over. you no longer have to be tormented with fear that nadal will somehow rise from the ashes once again; since he's irrelevant he won't be the nucleus of your conversation anymore. btw, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't novak play the 250 geneva open in may, just saying. also, the only wildcard that nadal has used since returning is bastad open. he used his protected ranking for the other tournaments. you might want to check your info before you speak, that way, you won't sound so ignorant.

Novak's versatility, Olympic Gold or not, makes him the GOAT by a large margin. Winning 250 and 500 ATP events is great, but greatness is measured by a player's performance in the "Big Titles". There are 15 "Big Titles":
    MAJORS:
    Australian Open
    Novak Djokovic 10
    Roger Federer 6
    Rafael Nadal 2
    French Open
    Rafael Nadal 14
    Novak Djokovic 3
    Roger Federer 1
    Wimbledon
    Roger Federer 8
    Novak Djokovic 7
    Rafael Nadal 2
    US Open
    Roger Federer 5
    Novak Djokovic 4
    Rafael Nadal 4
Novak Djokovic is the only man in history to have completed the career grand slam three times. Rod Laver, Roy Emerson and Rafael Nadal completed the career grand slam twice, while Don Budge, Andre Agassi and Roger Federer completed the career grand slam once. But Novak Djokovic is the only man to have done it three times.
    ATP TOUR FINALS
    Novak Djokovic 7
    Roger Federer 6
    Rafael Nadal 0
The ATP Tour Final is the fifth most important tournament on the tennis calendar. Novak has won a record number of ATP Tour Final titles.
    MASTERS 1000
    Indian Wells
    Novak Djokovic 5
    Roger Federer 5
    Rafael Nadal 3
    Miami
    Novak Djokovic 6
    Roger Federer 4
    Rafael Nadal 0
    Monte Carlo
    Rafael Nadal 11
    Novak Djokovic 2
    Roger Federer 0
    Madrid since 2009/Hamburg until 2008
    Roger Federer 6
    Rafael Nadal 5
    Novak Djokovic 3
    Rome
    Rafael Nadal 10
    Novak Djokovic 6
    Roger Federer 0
    Canadian Open
    Rafael Nadal 5
    Novak Djokovic 4
    Roger Federer 2
    Cincinnati
    Roger Federer 7
    Novak Djokovic 3
    Rafael Nadal 1
    Shanghai since 2009/Madrid until 2008
    Novak Djokovic 4
    Roger Federer 3
    Rafael Nadal 1
    Paris-Bercy
    Novak Djokovic 7
    Roger Federer 1
    Rafael Nadal 0
Novak is the only man to have won all 9 Masters 1000 events. Not only is the only man to have won all 9 Masters 1000 events, but he won them each a minimum of twice, so he completed the "Golden Masters" twice. Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andre Agassi and Andy Murray have each won 7 of the 9, but they are each missing 2 events on their resume.
    OLYMPIC GOLD SINGLES
    Novak Djokovic 1
    Rafael Nadal 1
    Roger Federer 0
Novak is the only man to have won all 15 "Big Titles".
    TOTAL BIG TITLES WON:
    Novak Djokovic 72
    Rafael Nadal 59
    Roger Federer 54
Novak Djokovic leads the field in Big Titles by a huge margin. He has over 70 "Big Titles" while no other man has won over 59.
Just as impressive is the incredible balance in the "Big titles" that Novak Djokovic has won on each of the four surfaces:
    OUTDOORS HARD COURTS:
    Novak Djokovic 36 (14 Majors and 22 Masters 1000)
    Roger Federer 32 (11 Majors, 21 Masters 1000)
    Rafael Nadal 15 (6 Majors, 9 Masters 1000)
    CLAY COURTS:
    Rafael Nadal 40 (14 Majors, 26 Masters 1000)
    Novak Djokovic 15 (3 Majors, 11 Masters 1000, 1 Olympic Gold)
    Roger Federer 7 (1 Major, 6 Masters 1000)
    GRASS COURTS:
    Roger Federer 8
    Novak Djokovic 7
    Rafael Nadal 2
    INDOORS HARD COURTS:
    Novak Djokovic 14
    Roger Federer 7
    Rafael Nadal 0
Novak Djokovic has won at least 10 "Big Titles" in 3 of the 4 surfaces. Rafael Nadal has won 10 or more "Big Titles" in 2 of the 4 surfaces, while Roger Federer has won 10 or more "Big Titles" on 1 surface.
There is no doubt that in addition to being the GOAT, Novak is also the most balanced, most versatile player ever.
