can't see how those seat shocks can possibly dampen on the axis that they are on. a couple of short vertical springs would work better wouldn't it?
Yeah, they dampen nothing. That's how the seat base came set up. I'm sure if you're mechanically inclined you could improve it. I wasn't worried too much about dampening as I was the aesthetic

They have several that look the same. It is the red and black distressed leather. Here's some information from an email chain I had with them. I hope this helps..

Looks and sounds great! Gives me some ideas for my 2018 Sportster 48. I love the color of that seat and passenger pad, gorgeous! I didn't notice if there were passenger footpegs. What tuner does the 48 have for the pipes and air cleaner?
No passenger pegs. Made this for one-up. Screaming Eagle tuner w/ stage 1
@@rugfixr Thank you so much for answering questions I had for my stock Sportster 48! I have Vance & Hines slip-ons which have not been installed. Wasn't sure if a Screaming Eagle tuner would work with V&H exhaust, but from this video, it's obvious that it would work. Probably better for me since I could take my 48 to a Harley dealer to have the stage 1 done there and take the guess work out for myself. Thanks you!

Actually the seat is very comfortable. The coil over shock under the seat though doesn't give you any comfort over the bumps. It's more for show

Digging the seat upgrade. How's the comfort level?
I hate my stock XL1200V seats, which I believe is the same on the 48?
Zero Comfort level if you're riding longer than 1 hour. Before then its perfect. I just ride it like a horse; always staying a little off the saddle - letting my legs be the shock absorbers. But that's what I love about this bike; It's raw and attaches you to the pavement where you feel every ripple and are connected with every second you ride
Scott Hasty get rid of shocks, switch to the ridged struts. Then you will really feel the road.
Better than that,cut the frame and weld on a hard tail.
How good are the Burly apes? Are they made from thick walled tubing like the Biltwell which are made from .120" chromoly?
Extremely sturdy bars. Not sure of the exact thickness. Tighten them a little past torque or they may slip a bit

I'm guessing that seat is rough on your back more than hour riding? My next investment is replacing the seat on my 99' XLH 1200. I'm leaning towards a Mustang with high rise back support.
It's made with a gel pad insert, and it form fits more or less, for a surprisingly comfortable ride. I experienced no back issues after an hour.

hello, please tell me what is the length of the seat shock absorbers along the holes and what kind of load are they designed for?
You'd have to check with mother road customs for the loads, as I never worried about that. They're pretty rigid and really give no shock absorption. I'm not sure of the exact length. I have sold the bike so I can't go out and measure it. Mother Road might be able to help you if they're still open

Doest that battery cover really snap in as snugly as it looks? Haha. At the point where I'm going to drill and zip tie mine to my frame :(
I feel your pain. They are notorious for popping open. There are fixes on UA-cam. I fortunately did not have that issue with this particular bike
i put the same stuff on mine and its not roadworthy now i have to change it back and it needs a front guard thats just what i like

No the seat is bolted on. Through Mother Road you'll buy the seat mount and then whatever seat you want.
