Hey man! Thanks for the video. Been struck with the same issue and honestly. my car manual led me to look for a red plastic release tool, not the one that rests under the first aid kit and pulling the release clamp on left side(where there is none). Hope you fixed yours :).
hey I have the same car I'm having an issue with the transmission like it's kicking in the gear pretty hard and then seeming like it's downshifting going into other gears at the wrong time also the parking light was stuck on so thank you for this video also my radio turns off and on I've been looking up videos I found one about the navigation system module not being good I was thinking of taking it apart and cleaning the circuit board I did that on my 5 series and got my dashboard to stop going crazy also I have a leak of some sort we kind of just got this car to invest but I'm thinking about keeping it the gas seems to go quick I'm trying to figure out a way to make it better and also maybe put in that inline 6 cylinder let me know what you think thank you
i loved this car but at 100000 miles everything started to go south very quickly, all the plastic parts geaars and whatnot sensors, the engineering is great but they used a lot of plastic, definately timed designed obsolesense. frigging shame traded it cheap on new Hyundai
I'm goin' through this issue NOW. The Germans over engineered these models. For the love of GOD, why would you make an electric parking brake?? Just because you can, doesn't always mean you should! 😩 Thanks for the video!
LOL, agreed! go for the metal gear just be careful when you're putting it together PO crossthreaded the part that pulls the cables. to set the brake. it will activate but will not release, had to wind it in everytime before i fixed it.
the car is in va w my son but if memory is correct i think its in glove box fuse box, inside there should be a schematic showing you which fuse. good luck make sure it's plugged in
that amber park light is on and dude at the performance shop said it was the emergency brake and something about the gears and wants $350 to fix the problem....I am wondering will this procedure fix that issue?

Hi, this just happened to me. I parked and activated the break. The light turned yellow. Since then I can drive, I assume it’s not locked or partially locked but as soon as I start the car the break light turns yellow and the dash says malfunction . If I press the parking break button one time I hear a noice in the trunk. Second time no noice and the lights on dash go off. As soon as I park the car light comes on again. What does that mean??
crashman1963 unfortunately I have no tools and have to take it to a shop. BMW asked for 1600 and every other place said 800 to replace the gear with a metal one. One shop in particular with 136 reviews at 5 star said 350. I feel like giving them a shot. They only work on BMWs. 🥺
if metal gear installed correctly should be end of that problem, bmw uses original plastic gear, or replaces the entire oem unit, just to break again later, Thanks for watching

Are the lights for the seat controls supposed to stay on? I think that is causing my battery to die what's your opinion?

Will this take that parking brake malfunction warning off? And will the red light come off also in the rear window?

Do you know where the fuse is for the parking brake? Cause I replaced the gear and motor won’t turn on?

I have a problem where the parking break lights don't turn off even when I take the key out and shut the driver door. This drains the battery.

ca light onr runs and drives fine it just has that
aftermarket metal gear costs about $30 took me 20 mins start to finish, then you can park on slope again!

id try to find something else that would fit first, but you may have to disassemble unit.

sounds like you need to replace the gear, if you open it up you'll know immediately very easy and cheap to diy.

I am having the same issue but mines stays on and auto performance in Atlanta said $350 as well to fix
