How to fix BMW ABS error in 2 minutes

- Error 5DF0, 5DF1 Hydropump
It’s most likely the connection between ABS control unit and the pump itself (cold soldering)
This is obviously more of a joke and not a longtime fix. Works for a few days/weeks tho
Had the yellow brake light and yellow triangle light with the arrow around it, after driving in the rain today. Did exactly the same thing this guy in the video did and the lights went away before I got out of my neighborhood. Thank you so much 2008 BMW 335i E92
lol 😂 same happen to me in the rain but my break be doing something wierd after it but i have abs break and a triangle with an arrow around all yellow
This actually worked for me. My first reaction was " No freakin' way!".Thanks! 2008 BMW 335i.
Very nice! 😁 but of course it’s just a temporary fix
Cheers mate , but where did he scroll to on the dash before tapping it ?
You can also reverse over a small bump (like a curb) after starting the car, and then drive forward, sometimes it jogs the pump and causes it to work again lol
I was full on depressed ready to replace expensive parts but then i came across this video and did not really think it would be that easy, but this shit actually worked. Thanks alot, you made my whole week.
@@matte3990 nice to hear. Thanks a lot!
But this is not a long-term fix, you will have to replace the ECU or Pump sooner or later. It’s not super expensive tho 🙏
That’s my kind of repair. LOL!!
🤣🤣🤣
Best video ever, thanks
This is like when my parents' TV didn't work or the signal was cut off, I would give it a couple of pats and that was it. Sometimes you have to fix things with your fists too.. Lol :)
Awesome, just what i thought. Problem is that its the rings on your shaft that your sensors use to read out the position of the shaft. Common problem on this type. They deteriorate over time and need to be replaced
dou you know how to replace that rings? tnks
@@oscarcastilla4188there are plenty videos on UA-cam about that, just look up ABS rings replacement
But it’s a whole lot of work
Just replaced the ring on the rear near side this morning. Still got the dash kit up 😢
@@funky_9_ what fault codes do you have?
The ring doesnt deteriorate. There is rust building up underneath, pushing the ring further outside against the sensor...
Je ne pensais pas que cela marcherai ! Mais merci pour les économies faites !
Thank you for your help
I finally changed the whole unit as it was equally expensive as repairing the pump. You can find a refurbished ECU with pump for around 500€ in EBay
Cheers 🥂
Thank you so much bro ❤️
thousand thanks from france
Es hat tatsächlich funktioniert haha. Und meine Motorkontrollampe ist auch aus gegangen. Also no joke for real 😂😂
Sehr nice, freut mich zu hören 😂👍
Omg thank you!!
It actually worked 🤣🤣 Ty
Yes mate , you started the car , then scrolled through the menu on the dash …. before you got out & started tapping on the ABS. .. so I was thinking , it’s in German and I’m just a dopey Australian , so I had no idea what you scrolled to beforehand
Im thinking .. Ok .. do you need to scroll to a particular setting before tapping on the module to free up the armature or brush’s ?
I think it’s a fair question ..
@@queenslander954 hey mate, I was just showing the error description on the screen, it’s not part of the ‚fixing‘. This screen always shows up if you have ABS issues.
So you don’t need to scroll to a specific setting 👍
@@Jon-hm2wu thanks mate , that’s good news .. the only other thing i noticed was that when you got back in the car the motor was off , so did you turn it off before getting out and tapping , or do you need to tap the ABS while the engine is running ?
@ I tapped the unit when engine was off. After restart, the signs should go away after a few meters of driving or at about 16 km/h
@@Jon-hm2wu Ok .. got it , you’re a good man & may have helped a dopey Australian half way around the World. 👊
@ I hope it helps mate! Best regards to Australia 🇦🇺
If you still have troubles with ABS afterwards, hit me up
This video save my life hahah thanks
Wtf it worked. Holy balls . I have a video as well!!! 😂😂( I used my iPhone pro which has a hard cover on it ) 😆
Subscribe definitively
Glad to hear bro 💪 good luck!
But why does it keeps coming back every 20 mins 😂 does that means it is lose of something ?
@@oggody1409yes, Most likely the Cole brushes (black motor thing I hit in the video) are faulty. You may have to replace the whole unit 😢
@@Jon-hm2wu turns out to be flat tire sensor replace both side front . And everything was ok then

I usually use a hammer, break the control unit to pieces and replace it with a new one. 😜
Lol , Man U Messing It Up Even More 😂. That's the Module You Beating . Not the Way To Fix 💯. But I Like Ya Car I Got The X5 😏
Great car bro
I'm gonna try this :))
Did it work ?
Wooow me funciono!!? En un bmw f20 gracias!!
Excelente!
Lol, worked until I put my foot on the brake to test the ABS.
What is this thing actually ? It comes back every 20 mins . After fixing it haha 😂 should I change it or tighten it ?
@@oggody1409 From my experience the fault was seized brushes on the motor of the DSC module (does ABS, traction control, cruise control), the unit that he was smacking. You need ISTA+ and a K+DCAN cable to check for error codes 5DF0/5DF1 to confirm your fault is the same (search youtube for these codes, it'll explain it better than me and show you your options ). Apparently it's not an uncommon fault for these modules produced between 2006-2008, generally fitted to E9x models. BMW quoted me AU$6,000 to replace the unit, I managed to complete the repairs for AU$200 by getting a second hand unit and swapping only the mechanical part of the DSC module (apparently the electronic section is coded to the car and you can't just swap the whole unit). You can see what I did by searching youtube for 'Brandon Crick 335' (not me) from 6 years ago. The INPA software will do the brake bleeding for you once you've swapped out the unit, again, youtube is your friend here.
Good job 😂😂😂
also check fuse under glove box 3 to check
I dit, that was not the issue unfortunately
@@Jon-hm2wu i sold the car to many warning lights on dash every other day
What does the warning say in English?
It says brake/drivestability malfunction with reduced brake/drivestability
wtf this actually worked…..
lmao
😂 such kind of repairing can me you lose customers 😅😅
mine turns off when i drive away slow speed but comes back on after reaching 60kmh any ideas?
Most likely faulty connections in the control unit. You might have replace the whole unit or get yours refurbished
@@Jon-hm2wu thanks alot for your quick reply will have to check all my sensor cables for fraying, this morning it didnt come on,stayed off even after hitting over 60, its very unpredictable, also getting the codes cc id 24, 50, 354, 236... just a question is there a seperate sensor for runflat (TPMS) or is it the same as speed wheel sensor?
@@dannywheeler-e6j hmm I think I had different error codes. And I did not have TPMS…
Did you try my ‚method‘ hitting the unit itself? If that works, your unit is defect. If not, it may be a sensor or wirr problem
@@Jon-hm2wu thanks for the suggestion, i did not try it yet was waiting for the abs lights to come on again. so with your method you tap the top of the dcs unit? does the car need to be off but ignition turned on right? i will try that once it returns. thanks so much for your help/replies have a great weekend.
@@dannywheeler-e6j Engine and ignition is off for that. Try to hit the black part of the abs-unit, that’s the pump. If this works, your pump is broken (happens very often on the E90 models)
Great weekend for you too 💪
Greetings , you have to leave the engine on? I'm having this exact problem. Thank you
No, engine is off while doing this
@@Jon-hm2wuGreetings, it worked, but after doing that for a few times, I mean, we do need to drive it for awhile, in my case I don't drive it often so, last time I drive it for 5km, back to parking and a week later when I drove again, all that is gone, amazing! Confused because I have a 320d e91 with +/-320000km and had nothing like that before and the 330i have much less km.
Thank you very much!
@@akira616588 nice to hear it works! I think the 6 cylinder models have this problem more often because it’s a different ABS unit than in the smaller engines
Did it ever not start the car because of that ?
I have the same problem right now but my car is driving perfectly well :) i will change my abs sensor after that It should be fixed :)
No it will start just fine. In fact. You could go forever without the whole unit. But it’s unsafe and insurance won’t like it 😅
Do you know what CC ID you had? Was it 24, 50, 354, and 678 maybe?
Where can I find this number?
Hehehe crazy fixing 😂
Exellent,, thx !!!
Did this started the car got an abs light and a service lift light also idle started jumping and car made brand new engine squealing. Seems unrelated but you touch these cars they will break something new
This just happened to me now with idle starting and car jumping. How did you fix it?
Where is the abs on a n55?
@@trqp.4kt should be on the same position
I’ve tried spacing out my abs sensors and that didn’t work
The error memory often says either the rear left or right sensor. But it’s most likely the control unit itself. I also changed the sensor rear left, after that it says rear right sensor….
@@Jon-hm2wu I think my rear sensors are done along with my abs rings I’m gonna try replacing the driveshafts with new ones and new rings and new sensors then see how that goes etc
@@jasonsaunders7329 I thought the same since my abs rings didn’t looked that great. Turned it that they are perfectly fine and the Modul is the problem
@@jasonsaunders7329 please be sure that the problem are the rings. It’s a lot of work to take out the driveshaft
@@Jon-hm2wu I only saw my right side and it looked pretty bad etc, I can only suggest it being that. But one step at a time bud 😀
If you use hammer it will take a minute. I guess.
Sounds like your brake disc is damaged. Had the same thing on another BMW. You probably have to change your front brake discs
Well I be damn, it worked!😂😂
Glad to hear that 👍
Does it work on bmw e90?
Most likely. It’s the same car
Change the Sensor that's how you fix it
I tried, it was not the reason. The ECU and/or pump was broken
Is that works for e90 too?
Yes
Great thank u
1000€? So teuer is dieser scheiss pumpenmotor?
Was sagt der Fehlerspeicher?
