I bought an 06 in 2019 with 3 hours on it. Looked showroom. I installed a high comp piston, an R cam, pink wire mod, airbox mod, pro circuit exhaust, rejet, and 450r suspension. I put 90 hours on it and enjoyed every minute.
What kind of speed and acceleration did you get from it? Just got my hands on a 2010 450x road legal for 2k with 12 hours on it. Not bad! Going to put an FMF exhaust on it as the standard ones are horrible.
@@charlieday1818 Power difference is night and day after you do the thinks I mentioned above. Riding a stock trim x is painful. If you need an R cam I have one here for sell in Texas.
What did you do to compensate for the high comp piston and R cam?

That's a Low Hour Machine! The Unicam 450 is Great, Easy to work on Compared to a Wr450 Dohc 5 Valve - I do my own Maintenance & Repairs & the Crf450x is the way to go Imho!! - Cheers👍😉🇦🇺

I have a 2006 450X and I totally share your opinion. Very reliable platform. The power coming out from it still pretty raw.

@@SuperMegaGoofyGoober They're built tough.. I use 0W40 in the engine all year long. Yeah, on ice as well. It takes a lot of torque on ice cause the rear wheel weights 3 times more. I have to changed the right crankcase once because the kickstarter teared it... Just make sure the decompressor is well ajusted.

Your bike looks in great shape.
It also looks very familiar to me because I rode a 2009 CRF450X too, back in 2011 and 2012.
I did all of the recommended uncorking mods and then got it inspected and street registered so I could legally ride it on the trail loop in my local State Forest.
I found the bike loved the faster sections with its great stability, excellent suspension that had a firm feel, and strong power and torque.
The trade-off for the stability was a ponderous feel in the tight, slow going, but that is not a surprise.
Today, I own the modern version of that bike: A 2021 CRF450RL, and the CRF450RL is the street-legal version of the current CRF450X.
My CRF450RL has much in common with my 2009 CRf450X as far as characteristics go, with great stability, excellent firm suspension, and strong power and torque.
I just picked up a 2009 450X with 15 MILES on it TODAY!!! Sucker even has a Seat Concepts seat on it. Brand new! Poor old guy scratched the number plates when he was putting the seat on it... so he ordered brand new number plates to replace them and they came with the bike!

They did change between 05 and current the fi was a big change I have a 09 it’s nice but not as raw as 05-08 and a little slower great bikes though
I have that same bike. Hard to give up the push button/kick combo. I lowered the gearing to keep it revving a bit higher on technical stuff, makes it whine a bit on the highway but it’s a good trade off. Curious about the mod video you recommended - do you have a link? Thanks for posting 👍
I have the exact same story of how i fall in love with my crf 250 r... And as you found out that woods make you feel free after motocross backround, i discovered the same feeling at streets!!! Although i want to ask you!! I know own a crf 250 r which i stunt but i have many limits- due to engine durability im afraid of. It will be great help if you tell me if the 450x is a good choise for stunt bike and if its lighweight not like the drz and everything else. Thank you very much for this video my friend!
it's one of the heaviest dirt bikes you can buy... any motocross bike will be significantly lighter but will lack features like headlight, big tank, 18" rear etc
i have honda crf450r 2009 and ktm 350sxf 2013 and i use them only for enduro riding and i can tell you honda is way more reliable and never let me stranded in the woods, but ktm did 3 times, both bikes i bought 2023
Don't think old ktms perform better, only new ones does go for a 250 350 450 or 500 exc f or xcf w 2022 or over next time. 100 % performs better

Hey Richo! Richo here, fuck em get the Honda! Hey is that thing learner approved? I’m buying a 2006 CRF450X with a CR500R engine. The Queensland LAMS list includes the CR500E, CR500R, and CRF450X. The weights are pretty similar. Should be approved or approvable hey?

The 450X shits all over the DR-Z400! Definitely a solid move to go with the Honda. I'll do an update video on it soon as I've had it finished for awhile now.

I highly recommend opening this thing up as much as possible. Ive got it finished now and have done a couple rides on it. Ill do another video on it in the spring talking about what I did to it and how much better it is. Huge improvements! Thing is sick now
Bought a 2008 450r today cheap. But 5th gear is gone. Rus great..How much for parts and labor to do a bottom rebuild do you think?
The parts won't be crazy expensive but the labor will be the most expensive and time consuming part of this

Those bikes are a lot different! 09 450... does it have fuel injection or no? I haven't had issues with my carb on the X, even riding it straight up mountains. Hard to beat a Honda!

I moved on from the YCF. I traded it for a 2020 CRF125, which is awesome. But I recently got an XR100 and a shit load of parts for it so Ill be doing a full build on that as well as some content. Im super excited for what Im about to be doing!
Can you do me a great favor? Get that thing on a scale and weigh it for me. Look at the videos on how to do it. Website says curb weight is 238 lb. There's no way I believe that when a CRF 250l weighs 300 something pounds and a 450 weighing 238? I don't think so. Anybody who sees this post please let me know about the weight on this motorcycle. Totally up to you to create value around the extras. $6k is high but for the right bike would be totally worth it
