As far as the shoes go I was looking for a pair of hiking shoes a few years ago and they were about sold out on their sales in my size. I had tried on several shoes but liked the Oboz Sawtooth low hiker but they didn't have my size. I wear a 7 - 7.5 usually and all they had was an 8.5. I decided to get them thinking I could wear heavier socks in the fall. I was shocked and surprised by their strength and support. I have problems with my ankles and was surprised that they were amazingly supportive in that area without high tops. I quit wearing them because I thought they were bothering my knee. Then I got covid in 2021 and was in 2 hospitals and nursing home for 10 months. On my second year back home I broke a bone in my foot and couldn't wear the boots because of being on oxygen from Covid and remembered my hiking shoes so I tried them on. My first thought was they're to big and I'm going to trip but the foot doctor approved of the Oboz for strength and stability. I've walked on my foot since February 13th and I'm so grateful for my Oboz. They are a little heavy but I'm glad that I bought them. Hopefully I can get another smaller size next time. My husband's physical therapist suggested that I buy Oboz inserts for my shoes to help. He hiked and also wore Oboz shoes. Good luck with the new shoes. Love your videos! ❤ Happy hiking to you. I have the exact pair in brown and red. Had the same reaction to them, but hubby swears by them and has always worn them. I like them, they're great on rocks and water etc., but mostly I still enjoy treading lighter. That said, I do wear something heavier duty on big rocks, in colder weather etc. I think you'll grow to feel good about wearing them, fingers crossed! I have been wearing Hokas since they came out. Happy anniversary. Sounds like you brought the right size of shoe you should never have to break in shoes. Hope you bought at least a size bigger than you normally have. Your feet swell when walking. Hope your boots work out for you. The Penn state is just chewing up everyone’s shoes. You have a great sense of life. Many people never get that. Love the poop discussion. Only a little boy would ask that lol. Love your journey.

Congrats and Holy Cow - you are wearing Hiking boots. I am glad to see that. My Salomon Quest boots took 50 miles of hiking to break in but after that, they feel like slippers. I know I am in the minority on boots though but I don't care. Wish you luck

If you were wearing Hokas, you were pretty much wearing trail runners which have so little support. I've been wearing Oboz for the past 3 years and have never had to break them in. That said, you're basically going from a glorified gym shoe to a full-on hiking boot. It's going to take a little bit but I'm guessing that in the long run you're going to end up loving them. You need to adapt ya silly gooses................... The double thick comfort pads for the shoes will help a lot. Inserts with insole supports can't hurt either. Foot comfort is ALL IMPORTANT whilst hiking. Trust me... B.T.D.T.. After 89 days on the trail your legs should be much stronger and the boots will add to the leg strength as you move forwards. Also entering a new state you shouldn't say we're in West Virginia because the locals could correct you and tell you that you are in West (By God) Virginia ..... just sayin' ........................enjoy
