  • Hey everyone and welcome to my channel! My name is Hayley and I'm currently a Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon working in the health sector. When I was looking into PC, one thing that I loved doing was watching UA-cam videos on it. Once I got accepted to Cameroon I noticed there weren't too many on Cameroon so I decided I would make some! Enjoy my house tour and be sure to hit that like and subscribe button. If there's anything you want to know or want me to do a video on, mention it in the comments and I'll try!
    The contents of this video are mine personally and do not reflect any views of opinions of the U.S. Government, Peace Corps or the Cameroonian Government

    I have a Skype interview next week. Is the interview in French? I know they require 2 classes of French. I'm on my 2nd French class.

      2380Shaw Hi! No the interview is not done in French. You will be interviewing with someone in Peace Corps Washington Office. The person you interview with may not have even served in Cameroon (mine didn’t), so it’s not done in French. And yes, they do require either being a native French speaker, having I think like 8 years of experience if you never took a class and taking a test to prove your level, or taking at least one year of a college French course. Good luck on your interview!

    Hi Hayley! My son has been offered a position in Camaroon. Would you go again if you could?

      Hi! Congrats to your son! Being 100% honest I would go to Cameroon again, however I probably wouldn’t do Peace Corps again. I would maybe suggest checking out the instagram account peacecorpshr but also keep in mind that everyone’s service is different. Good luck to him and feel free to reach out with any other questions

      @@HABgirlsmay I ask why you wouldn’t do it again? Curiosity from someone unsure about applying/joining

      I think that's "what do you think of the weather in Cameroon?"

      Not quite but good. So there’s two seasons in Cameroon, rainy and dry. I came into Cameroon during the rainy season, near the end of it, and left for my post during the dry season. The region you’re posted in determines the length of the seasons, temperature, level of dust, and how frequent the seasons are as sometimes you’ll get mini rainy season during dry season and Vice versa. For me, I’m in the furtherest north region that volunteers are sent to and am also one of he furthest north posts in that region. My region is the hottest of the regions volunteers get sent to and we have a very long dry season. It stopped raining here in November and won’t start again until April or May, some home county nationals are thinking possibly later this year. It’s super dusty in my region but it’s also dusty in most other regions and hot. Although some regions are cooler than others. As someone born and raised in New England, not really having cold (except sometimes we do have lower temperatures similar to Fall), it’s definitely been an adjustment

      Hello Haley. I have a Peace Corps interview this week. I applied to go to Cameroon but just noticed they no longer have positions in Cameroon available. Does that just mean they are done taking applications for it and will decide after all interviews who gets to go or is the program there over?

    • @HABgirls
      @HABgirls  5 років тому

      2380Shaw hey! I was also worried when this happened to me before my interview but after the interview got set up. The program is not over, I’m assuming you applied for either agriculture or health. It just means that they got enough applications for the positions available and after your interview you should find out if you’re accepted or not. For me it was about three or four weeks after my interview when I got the acceptance, but that was also during the holidays.

      2380Shaw oui, c’est important de pouvoir écrire le français, mais il est plus important de pouvoir le parler. vous pouvez avoir votre homologue écrire.
