Hey Mark, it is a fun experiment with the chassis and I am really happy with where is has ended up. Might go with the same tyres on the Mad Bill at some point too! Mini was giving me loads of stick about busting the body mounts! Thanks for tuning in buddy 👍🏻🙌🏻
Some really nice mods you have there Craig. I don't blame you for changing the body, I broke two mounts of my MP on it's first run but my LB is still running with it's plastic mounts. Great stuff mate and ATB fella
@@theoagrc Being more of a racing "buggy" guy it's one RC I never thought I'd like. I was wrong....it's a blast to drive around. Just a relaxing experience. I do think oil shocks would be a great hop up...probably have to upgrade. Where did you get those tires? They look awesome on it!

Morning Robbie, it was a silly upgrade to the Lunchbox while I had it on the bench. It is a rocket ship now and so much fun. Not sure it is going to do well on the track though as it still can’t turn 😂
Hey there Dirk, the tyres made a difference on the dirt pal. Seemed to have a little more grip but they wear out pretty quickly once you are off the mud and running on harder surfaces. Maybe I should still run it on the Orchard Raceway…. It is currently in retirement for 2023 but perhaps I could be convinced to pull her out!
Hi there Craig, a great session of modifications to this fun chassis. Looks like the weight differences to the shocks, need some slight attention. Those wheels look more aggressive. That BZ motor is going to provide some punch! I’ve had some advice from Peter Smith on my CW-01 chassis, placing a brace also across the front, to help stiffen and strengthen the front section of the chassis. Best wishes to you and the family 😊😊

Well it is gonna have some get up and go for sure! It may be a bit bouncy as the suspension seems a little stiff. I'd take some tension off the springs and give it a little more give. But honestly run it and see what happens, I may be completely wrong and it may be a rocket! They get a lot more squirrely the faster they go, I do know that from experience! LOL!!

I recognise that body shell matey! 😉 I'm loving this, CWO1'S are something we have a lot of experience with! Your certainly going in the right direction by stiffening the shocks, and those new studded chevron tires look awesome..... not seen those before mate! The superstock series motors totally rip on these chassis, a gentle throttle application is the way forward trust me! They really jult as you hit the power, kangarooing and wheelying.... try and put as much of the weight on the front end as possible(I moved the battery to the front of the tub) Turning is also an issue, as is keeping the tires on the rims as you corner, get the glue out or they will be off in no time! 🤣 Those dust covers are totally useless.... I destroyed both in just 2 runs! 😬 Also, keep an eye on how hot the BZ gets.... I've cooked a BZ and an RZ on both a pumpkin and a monster beetle, prolonged runs are not advisable mate. These chassis were not designed for this much power..... but, with a lot of modifications they ain't half fun when you finaly get it right! The metal body posts work well, I reinforce the chassis areas they screw into with aluminium plates, really helps toughen them up. Those gearboxes are bomb proof, and shouldn't be an issue. The high torque steering servo saver is a great move, but heavy impact crashes on the front wheels often breaks the servo away from the chassis.... a common weak spot. Just a few pointers in the right direction buddy, but, if you really want to get serious - You need to speak to the legend that is Rob Brennan..... who famously created the incredible CWO1 speed machine that goes by the name of 'Luncharrari'!! 😂😅😂😅
Hey dude, the Luncherarri is a legend! We are looking for OR track legend rather than drag icon but I have a lot to live up to!! You make some excellent points and I will take care with the motors. I never run a full pack through anything these days on the track but the Pumpbox might be one of the test vehicle for the 2023 season track. I stated prep work this weekend and it looks awesome in its new layout! What happens when a motor is toast?? I have a old TZ motor that doesn’t do anything under power!

Glad you have managed to get out and get some work done on it..... especially as all it seems to do down this way is rain every single day! ☔ You should be fine with short runs on those motors. In all honesty the two I cooked were driven flat out until the battery died many, many times..... they do get very hot with those big wheeled rigs, so entirely my own fault, but hey, you know how it is when your having so much fun.... who wants to stop after just ten minutes to let things cool down?! 😂 The windings burnt out on the two I cooked.... I did briefly look into buying a complete new rotor, but then saw that both the commutator and brushes were both past their best so decided to just replace the whole motor. Unfortunately, Tamiyas aftermarket spares availability isn't what it used to be back in the day. In an era where model shops are now few and far between, getting parts to rebuild things doesn't seem to be high on the list of manufacturers aims. Sad to say, we are now living in a 'throw away, disposable generation'. Are the brushes and commutator in good shape on your TZ mate? If the brushes are good, and the metal bushes on each end of the rotor are clean and lubed, and the com is in good shape(can be cleaned with an erasor/rubber) then it is probably in need of a new rotor like with mine.... worth checking the aforementioned things first though mate! Let me know how you get on, I have the TZ in my TRF top force, it's a great motor. That, and the RZ are noticeably faster than the BZ, the BZ being more designed for 'off road'. 👍 👍 👍 👍
Totally understand you on swapping the body, i think i broke the plastic body mounts after the first run on my vintage Pumpkin and i then made my own of metall and after a few tumles i broke the chassie instead 🤣😂after that the car has been in a box in my parents garage for like 30 years.
Hey Mattias, they were made for gentle drivers and show rooms rather than race track and bashing! I gave it a chance but heard the metal ones just crack the body. Think this one now looks the business. You’ll see it finished later this week dude 👍🏻

Hey Craig I had to laugh when you said that you didn't need more than one CW-01 chassis RC. Try telling that to Peter at CW-01 Creations! I think he's got about 40 of them 🤣 Anyway, nice upgrades. Where did you get that servo saver? That is something that I'd like to get for mine. With the suspension is there a danger that it's too rigid to soak up the bumps and it will just bounce all the more? I find that some of these non Tamiya shocks are way too hard for the weight of the cars. I guess you'll find out on the track. I think that these will bounce whatever you do to be honest and they are never going to be much good on a track. I've never had a Midnight Pumpkin and the body posts do look like a bit of an issue so I'm probably better with the more robust Lunchbox. Oh I enjoyed the helpful input from the Mini OAG 😁

I think you are right about the dampers and I will send play about the the tension so there is a balance. Initial run during the FOSS last year resulted in lots of forward rolls and fun 😁

Is there a limit for the motors? I have a rocket 3 .5 t modified and a 150 amp esc and it flies. It can easily beat a frog, Blackfoot and a fox but I love the improvements your doing 😊
Hey Dottie, I limit my motors just because I like to try and keep things competitive in my little back yard league. However, this on the BZ motor was undrivable really! In 2023 we lost the servo and steering as a result of the extra power 😂🤣 It is back on the bench in a few weeks so keep an eye out for the next video as it is going to look the business. Man, I can tell you Craig, you wont keep the front end on the ground with that motor (it's for 4wd and more torque than other Super Sport motor Tamiya makes), they RIP!!!!!! I never put a BZ motor in my Pumpkin but I did put a n old Trinity Paradox Pro motor in mine (it's still a 27 turn motor like the silver can but tweaked) and it was pretty fast. Awesome video dude!!!!
Hey Bob, it is a rocket at speed now! I used the EXP on the transmitter to slow down the rate of acceleration and it allows the front to stay down a little longer. It is useless on the turns though and ends up on the roof a lot more now…. Good job it is a Lunchie 😂🤣

I found my 5 shock mod was the best mod I have ever made. I would bet it's worth a second off the lap time all day every day.

The 1st upgrade i make on these chassis’s. Is to lock out the floating axel.

A bit of weight in the front will keep the front end down with that bz motor

@@theoagrc My Pumpkin did 22mph with a 27 turn motor on a 2S lipo.. Yours should be close to that.

Nice job! You could place the esc somewhat lower in the chassis. I think this motor will not make it faster, it will surely break it faster. ;-)
