I'm a “Yankee” transplant from Detroit, MI and have lived on Hilton Head Island for the past 50, (+/-) years. Periodically, some Friends and I would visit “River Walk” when it was called just plain 'ol “River Street” back in the day when they had cobble stone brick streets with a spur rail line going down the middle of such. Oh, and you could drive your car on it, (if you dare), because traffic, (on the “then” little 2 lane street), was impenetrable, the bars / restaurants, (for the most point), we're “skuzzy”and dark but you know what? It had a soul and character to it which has obviously been replaced by a massive upgrade of brick pavers and other things too numerous to mention here from what I've seen on this video. If I'm not mistaken...Marriott, (from whom I used to work for in the “Crime”-share” business), was highly instrumental in turning this place around. Will I go back? Ehhh, HIGHLY unlikely as I'm sure it's crowded as ever during the season and otherwise. That, plus I usually don't patronize bars / restaurants that charge $5.00, (+/-). for a can of beer which is extortion to the “inth” degree. Have fun ya'll.
We walked right past this hotel when we were in Savannah for a night a couple weeks before Christmas. The outdoor Christmas market was right outside this hotel. But we had no idea it was so cool inside or we would have gone in to check it out. Such a cool lobby with all of the dinosaurs and skeletons. The room looked lovely too. We gotta go check this place out someday!
I went there not long ago, there used to be a roof top deck that had a bar, big slide, and really cool chairs to where you could admire the downtown skyline. Did you guys miss that? If so what a bummer, it is awesome up there.
@@TravelingWithEmMe Nice! I'm pretty sure the one im talking about is like the electric bar thats in the Riverside district, it has a whole slide and really nice hangout area over looking river street and the inner city!
Your not kidding, this is an AWESOME hotel. The room also looks larger than the average hotels in the USA. The bone display is just an AWESOME PERK! LIKE 7. 👍👍👍👍
