Savannah girl here... I married & moved away but this is still home!!! Thank you for letting me see it! Miss the old piano bar that was upstairs for years !! Miss Emma was a legend!
I grew up going to Savannah on family vacation. Pirates House was a place that we would go for dessert almost every night. For years there was an animatonic pirate at the tunnel entrance and when you pushed the red button it would give you the story. Legend goes that a pirate captain actually died upstairs. Its a really cool spot.
Enjoying your Savannah videos. There is so much rich history in that old city. Next time y’all come back try to visit Ft. Pulaski. It’s near Tybee Island & the largest masonry fortification in the America, it’s an amazing structure.
Wow, not busy at all. When I was there it was about a 2 hour wait for a table. Needless to say, I didn't wait. Hope you are enjoying your time in the US.
Pirate House and Pink House were best dinner spots..Sorell Reed House was my favorite historic site and super haunted. I want to go to Savannah again, but I get two weeks vacay so I'm going to Scotland.
Savannah is about a 3 hour trip for us. My husband and I love going there for a weekend getaway. The Pirate house is a great place to eat. We love it! Glad you guys enjoyed it also!
I always thought it was a fun place. Touristy, yes, but I agree, real historic. Blackbeard used it too from what I understand. When I’ve been there, it was years ago, the food was not great. Not bad, just not great. I’m glad it’s better! The best ghost tour I’ve been on was in Savannah, it was a walking tour though.
I love Savannah! I was there several years ago in November at Thanksgiving! The weather was great, sunny and upper 50's! Funny though, all the locals were wearing coats, hats, and gloves! ?They were all freezing while we being Michiganders, were wearing shorts and sweatshirts, loving the weather! Next year, we went to Charleston in late May! Charleston in beautiful, but the temps and humidity were both in the low 90's! Totally ruined the trip for me! It was miserable!
I moved here FROM Michigan! I ride my motorcycle year round. It just doesn't get that cold. The last year I lived in MI, I bought a carhardtt Sherpa coat on clearance in April. Move to Savannah in August. I've never worn it as it doesn't get cold enough, even when riding my bike in February! BTW, I grewup inNW Fla. Lived there for 30 years then moved north for 20 years. I too laugh at locals in the winter time. If you really want to laugh, go to Miami, in late Jan when a cool front goes through. You'll see people wearing ski parkas in 50 degree weather...😅😅😅
Savannah is an amazing place for history, walking tours, and food. OMG the food. I did not eat a bad meal the whole time I was there. Even the pizza was the best I've eaten. I'm glad you ate at The Pirate House our trolley driver recommended it to us when we couldn't get into Paula Deans he told us it is where the locals eat. So good!
So good to see y'all again, thanks for sharing this, I've never been to Savannah, it's on my bucket list! Safe and happy travels, welcome back to the States and come on back to Texas, y'all! 🤠❤
I love Savanah, Georgia! I've been to the Pirate House in 2010. Greatest shrimp and grits ever! My sister ordered them but said they were too rich. I ate her whole plate!! Our waiter was aweful and made fun of us. I complained to management but begged them not to fire him. He's probably in his 30's now and, hopefully a better man. Love the spanish moss that hangs from the trees. Beautiful how they have a park everywhere and houses all around. Liked the river walk. Very hot, humid but the azaleas and dogwoods in bloom in April are stunning. Did hear it's haunted, but being of hispanic heritage and superstitious myself, I didn't do those tours. Also, google the angel oak tree...prettiest tree ever!! Lots of history for USA, maybe not Europe. Also, loved your New Orleans vlog years ago and North Carolina. They were exceptional!! You guys are awesome!!
@@virginiamccarter6638 I know angel oak is in Charleston. Seeing the Savanah video made me think of the prettiest tree. It's on that side of our country. Thanks!! You clarified it to others who wouldn't know.
Savannah is one of my favorite places to visit. And I saw the Pirate House on a bus tour years ago. Black Beard used to go there a lot to sell the things he had plundered on his many adventures on the high seas. Lucky you to get to go inside. If you notice the front porch is painted Haint Blue. The belief is that ghosts can't cross anything painted that color. Also, oftentimes you would see bottle trees. The belief was that ghosts would be attracted to the dark blue bottle and get trapped inside. Great history. Also, the history about Forrest Gump's bench is this: There were actually three benches made. The one Tom Hanks sat on is in a museum there in Savannah; the second one was bought by an unknown person and the third one got stolen.
My family has been in this area for so long that my ancestor Daniel Melvin from Skye was captured by Blackbeard and forced to serve as cabin boy He spent quite a bit of time in that very building until he was able to escape in north Carolina. There is a book about it entitled "Blackbeard's cabin boy"
The Forrest Gump bench was NOT a film prop. Clarification, they might have used a bench that fit the era of the film but there was always a bench there. They had to remove the bench because ::cough:: tourists ::cough:: were causing major problems with traffic trying to take pictures and having to go into the street to get their perfect shots. Chippewa Square is one of my favorites in Savannah. My family lived there when I was little (and I learned to ride a two-wheeled bike in many of the parks/squares). You should spend more time in Savannah! All the squares are worth visiting and one of my favorite things is to do when I get to visit these days is just find a shady spot and sit and read or people watch.
The pirate house looks really fun and a great historical place the food also looked good. Remember the so called cheesy souvenirs are actually for children so maybe they're not cheesy they're just for kids❤😂😂
Would love to go back to Savannah for a proper visit. Only been once, for the St. Patrick's Day festivities many years ago. That was a bit too crowded for my liking.
Well, Shaun, if you guys ever stay where you land on the east coast, you can visit/sleep in the Lizzie Borden house in Fall River, MA. Book ahead, especially at Halloween and the anniversary of the murders
To lean into US history & architecture the next time in NYC visit the “White Horse Tavern” (in the West Village) and “Seminary Square” in Chelsea’s Historic District; both are from the early 1700s. The structure on 10th Ave -previously the church rectory is a hotel now. It overlooks The Highline (elevated park) and it’s also on NYC’s newest “restaurant row.” I can’t vouch for the food at any particular place there except “Moran’s.” It’s the oldest Scottish/Irish restaurant in Manhattan, has a similar vibe as the pirate place and the lamb we had there on Easter was good.
I’ve been on 2 tours . The first was fantastic, the last was disappointing. However, an Asian couple in front of us took a picture and there were 2 orbs in the photo!
Oh wow, I haven't been there in nearly... crap... 17-ish years? I remember it not being as rowdy and not leaning into its themes and history as much as I felt it should have. Food and drinks were good though. Definitely tourist priced though. I usually end up at Lady and Son's whenever I get the rare chance to go to the area for work.
Nope you are wrong. I never said I was tired of walking around America. I said I have very little American footage left to show and because of work, not much chance of coming back soon. This series is the last I have to show.
@@shaunvlog Glad you always had fun in the US dude. I wish you wouldve gone to more cool places like this instead of NYC so much. But I know you love NYC so thats cool man. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Savannah is very unique and what I call home.
Now you can understand why southerners move slow. We are not lazy; the humidity is crippling.
Truth.

The pirate house is mentioned in Robert Louis Stephenson’s book Treasure Island.
It looks like a fun place
And he was Scottish!
Did you watch your wallet when the lights went out?

Really. I normally don't have Wait that long. Maybe it's just the time. Love the firehouse. Love Savannah. William s
Before April 1st it's consider off season. Everything is cheaper and less crowded.
I love taking ghost tours of cities I visit. So much history is taught, with a sprinkling of ghosties.
When the trolly pulled up and there some random woman with a joker smile plastered on her face- creepiest moment of the night lol
One of my very favorite restaurants for fried chicken ... with their honey pecan topping/glaze, it's taken to a whole new level.
Love the Pirates House...was married to a guy from Savannah and used to go to Savannah at least once a year.
Been here once, as a kid in the 80s. I'd love to come back and visit.
Been a long time since I was there, great food. Orange marmalade on biscuits breakfast favorite.
Firstly, Teka, you look fabulous!! That pirate place looked like something out of the Jamestown Settlement, really old.
Thank you for visiting our Country ❤❤

WHEN you come back Home to TEXAS, Shaun, you need to check out the sights on the Texas Gulf Coast from Corpus Christi to South Padre Island.

Two other true Savannah traditions are Mrs. Wilkes and The Crystal Beer Parlor.
Those Georgia Crack'a Nachos from Crystal Beer Parlor will always have a place in my heart (and stomach)
I'm a born and bred Georgia boy. I remember going here when I was little. It's where I got my love of pirates😂. Glad to see you enjoyed it!

@2:40 damn they sealed off the tunnel hole 😭
I remember when they had it opened
I can remember eating there as a child, I’m 67. My mom was born in Savannah and we made frequent trips.
I love the old house with all the Antiques❤

Angel Oak is in Charleston, SC. Used to ride horses to it and stand on their backs to climb the tree. Early 70s.

Our history is nowhere as old as yours, but it’s unique and it’s all we’ve got! But, we make up for it with our food……right!!! Enjoy ❤
Next time you're in Savannah, you have to go to the National Prohibition Museum and the Juliet Gordon Lowe House (Founder of the Girl Scouts).
The pirate house looks really fun and a great historical place the food also looked good. Remember the so called cheesy souvenirs are actually for children so maybe they're not cheesy they're just for kids❤😂😂
A lot of Pirates were Scots, so it was a very fitting visit!
The bench does exist. It is there in Savanah I have a photo of it.
Great video!!

@The_Crucible714 but *our* White Horse Tavern is older...and haunted...🙂
Never heard of this Pirate House place though I've been to Sav a few times. Lovely town....and my Weegie wife really enjoyed it.
When was this video made? I live in Savannah & I have been to that restaurant MANY times
The Pirate House was established in 1794.
I’ve been on 2 tours . The first was fantastic, the last was disappointing. However, an Asian couple in front of us took a picture and there were 2 orbs in the photo!
There's a particular ghost tour, I can't remember which, but they'll actually take you into the cellar of the Pirate House

Sorry, Shaun. I know engagement is engagement, but I had to report the bot with the profile pic of her bahookie
Good job - I keep trying to delete them as well. There are so many it’s hard to keep up
The Pirate's House is exactly six blocks from MY house.
Opening scene: so much ginger!
Did you visit any of the set !locations from the film "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil"?
Tbh I think the bench from Forrest Gump is probably back in the prop house, not in a museum.
Suggestions next in USA try steak house the yeast rolls
lol My husband works there.
❤🎉
You didn't show. The souvenir shop. Huh. William s
Mo dhachaigh !
We’ve been there. It’s supposed to be haunted too.

Tourist Trap..overpriced.
Why do all the tourist guides always have the most obnoxious voice
I would bet that Gettysburg is more haunted than Savanah is
