You don't need the empty, the object can be parented directly to a bone. You can also keyframe the "influence" property to set and clear the parenting as needed in your animation.
I just recently figured out you can keyframe the influence of stuff, but whenever I set it to 0, the object goes to the world center where it was created. Do you happen to know of a way to animate off the last position instead?
@@ericfieldman you have to keyframe the object's locrotscale as well as the influence
@@lukajk I'm pretty sure I did, and what happens is it keyframes 0,0,0, etc, before the influence of the constraint, so it still goes to square one. I'll figure it out eventually
Thanks for trying though
@@ericfieldman apparently I can't link it directly here but I uploaded a short clip on my channel. (unlisted but accessible through playlists) it seems like the sequence has to be pretty specific so it was easier to record.. I used "i" to keyframe the influence and object locrotscale btw
The hotkey to set parent is ctrl + p
bro this comment is so accurate XD
Wow, this helped so much. I really do appreciate this. Never would've gotten one of my commissions completed if it weren't for this video.
You are a modern day American hero
Straight to the point, great tutorial!
I applied animation in Blender and it works fine but after exporting model to React Fiber objects stay separate. What should i fix then?
Very good tutorial, this deserves more views!
The Ai voice makes it hard to follow
Thanks, this tutorial was helpful
I've been trying to figure this out for days now, and almost lost my mind. Thank you for this man, you're a life saver lmfao

You skipped how the left hand is parented to the weapon.
underrated (:
Can someone help, I have issue. When I import this fbx in Unity, the weapon doesn't attach with the hand anymore. 😭😭

i can't find the select all toggle option in edit mode when i press shift + S, why is that ?
check keyoption in preference
It worked but once I put it in Unity the animation of the objet isn´t store, its says its because it doesnt have weights but if I put weights the object would move to random places instead of actually following
Helped a ton, thanks!
thank you for the tutorial, thats exactly i was looking for, but what hotkey did you use to parent at 1:32?
edit: nevermind, ive already found out how to parents but, it says "loop in parents" and it doesnt transforms, thats what im trying to figure out now
edit 2: even though, it doesnt say "loop in parents" and it still doesnt work, ill try and re-follow all the steps
edit 3: i already completely figured out how to do this, thanks for the amazing tutorial man, keep up the great work, buddy! :D
