I only glanced over the new features when I read the infos about the black friday bundle and I purchased my new license. Your video was the first look I got into the new version and MAN, Meshlets got me really excited! It looks like I don't have to upgrade my machine in the next couple of years lmao that sounds so amazing! Thanks for sharing! Nanite was one feature that really made me consider switching to UE5, so happy to see that it'll come to Octane now
Great overview of the new features, thanks Alex. I do have one question, near the end of the video you mentioned, you use Blender Octan and then export it to Octane standalone and then send it to Render network. Why is that? are there any specific reasons why you finally take the scene to standalone instead of using the final orbx from Blender itself?
We really don’t have to anymore, we used to need to to check the orbx and make sure it was good, and usually bit there was an issue it could’ve been solved in octane for blender. I do personally find it easier to light and test render aovs / settings in Octane standalone, and because we render heavy scenes at 16000x8000, the increased responsiveness from standalone really helps making final lighting/color decisions
@@AlexPearce3d I work for an automotive viz studio in India, and I am planing to make a pitch to switch to octane. Even though cyles is an amazing render, the "Photoreal" look Octane provides out of the box is just insane. So just trying to understand all the negatives of Blender octane plugin if there are any. Thanks a lot for the explaination.
@onlybooleans one of the biggest challenges switching to octane for Blender, is that there is a learning curve and there aren’t 10,000 videos that explain how to do everything, like there is with Blender/Cycles, so you spend a lot of time just figuring out how to do whatever you need to do, and more or less building your own pipeline and library of materials/assets, etc. There are a few channels that help and the community, while much smaller, is very happy to share what they/we know. The main place to connect with the community is Facebook, there’s an octane for blender fb group.
Thanks for the breakdown! I have a quick question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Man thank you for the video good times are coming for Octane users
Yeah man!
I’m still having a hard time having octane blender to even work man
@locksleylennoxvfx ah sorry to hear it man :(
does that mean itll be in blender too?
@ yes eventually! Not even sure when it will be in octane standalone
That was very helpful to get a brief understanding of the upcoming features for Octane.
Thanks! Yeah I couldn’t help myself, it took me a minute to find the information, so I thought I’d just reshare it

Yeah I have no idea when it’s actually going to be in the build though :/
@ at least we know they're working on it and it'll be released eventually! :)
Wow Octane is coming in strong with this update. Can't wait to try it out
Meshlets is a long time coming, announced in 2022.
Btw. They are in Australia - hence the time forward difference.
Yes I remember when they first announced it, it’s cool to see it starting to come to life!
Don’t expect it any time soon Otoy tend to announce features that takes years to see the light and then plugin versions take even longer 😫
@ yes this is true :/ and it’s in the 2026 version so I’m guessing it’s over a year away. Still, very excited for it when it does come.
