I dont usually do hard surface but past weeks i've been studying Marco and the way he works with hard surface on Z brush expanded a lot my knowledge super clean workflow if im honest.
Black pheonix, Black widow and black lotus models packs are some of the best hard surface modeled robot part packs you can get, i have all 3 of them and use them in a lot of projects. Thank you Mr Bulgarov for creating those model packs
Interesting how your back ground shapes your work. My dad was a design engineer so most of my early work as a traditional model maker was influenced by actual believable mechanics and concept artists such as Mike Trim, Derek Meddings (Thunderbird) Syd Mead (concept artist Blade Runner, the Aliens APC/Drop Ship). From an older perspective and I am, a lot of newer concept design seems to just add detail to try and push believability rather than using good design. But that’s my opinion. I made the move from traditional to 3D modelling 3 years ago, starting a business to build model railway accessories. Most of my concept design/Sci-Fi are still on paper, maybe if I get the time to convert some of my old concepts to digital someone will do a video on me.
I have always wanted to at least draw stuff like his. I've sketched some mechanization and I have been trying to learn Blender to build simple designs. Got a long way to go...
Marco is flawless i think he deserves a video, Vitaly is good and my respects to him, but i think he was more lucky getting around with the right people. in my opinion
Drawing on models? I'm not sure... texture painting? The only programs I can think of off hand that do that "for free" would be Blender 3d and ArmorPaint.
Now that's changing, and I'm using artificial intelligence to create them. I don't like it, it saves the company money and time to develop the concept. 1 years ago, we had a lot of people working on the concept, and we were designing every single thing.
@@hanthonypiano I think Marco is better than Cedric. Some of the best you don't hear much about. Mike Nash(RIP) was up there. I would put Fausto Martini up there as well. Another old school legend that most people don't know. Ben Erdt is brilliant as well.
@@hanthonypiano In terms of popularity maybe, but in terms of skills, I have to pass from my side. What Vitality can do, while impressive it is still achievable, but what Mike Nash was able to create feel like impossible to attain
@@musashidanmcgrath For sure, there are a lot of brilliant people out there. Just the approach of this channel feels silly to me, cause there is a huge layer of subjectivity to it
My top 3 : Mike Andrew Nash ... Fausto De Martini... Marco Plouffe

Vitally is the man! I use his kit bash in my series. This dude is very inspirational.
Love the format of this video, would love to know more about other great artists through such video essays ! Keep up the good work.

most people agree that the best hard surface artist is Mike Nash, and this video oh god, it's horrendous, sorry to say it.
huh? vitaly is probably who most people think of. then maybe cedric seaut? then maybe marco

@@flixmlix8926 Well, the channel is a sort of 'tabloid' news for CG artists. 😁
