  • This Sick New Trend Needs To STOP ASAP....(Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande...)
Sadly, the extreme diet culture is back in full force with this sick trend making a comeback and we really need to discuss this because the media and many celebs are now actively promoting it…
I cannot stress enough how bad this is because reducing women’s body types to “trends” is not just annoying but it can also be extremely dangerous.

Insane that the "thick" ideal body style they perpetuated for so long made women who were skinnier get shamed for not having wide hips or a big butt but now that that's out of trend Kim herself is becoming obsessed with losing weight. It just shows that women's bodies are treated like fashion trends nowadays. you just can't win.

Agreed! As someone who is very skinny and boney no matter what I eat I've been shamed for not having a "big butt" or being full. And I have also seen people throw water bottles at a "chubby" girl and tell her to drink water and lose some weight. Like you can't win, whether you're skinny or curvy you'll always be judged.

Being skinny will always be acceptable and y’all need to stop acting like you have it so hard. Obviously there are people that will bully you for anyway that you look, but there have been people that have been denied jobs, proper health care, and basic human rights just because they’re fat. I feel like Kim K used the Marilyn dress as an excuse to "lose weight" via taking out some of her bbl. She probably got sick of how odd a bbl looked irl and also probably wanted to be taken more seriously as she moved more into law, so she finished up with profiting off of black women and moved into a slimmer body type under the excuse of losing weight to fit into the Marilyn dress. Pure speculation but they're a shady family so I'd not be surprised.

As a "naturally skinny" girl, yes it does sometimes has it perks but as a young girl who has grown up in the Kim era, i was constantly wanting more on my body. Everyone told me that I was a stick, I was ugly, and when I bloated I looked pregnant. It hurt a 10 year old. 10. And this was all back in the late 2000s.
Girls let me tell you. It's okay to want to gain some healthy weight, it's okay to loose some weight to be healthy. But it is NEVER okay to loose weight because you think you're too fat. Every time my period comes around, I get so skinny that it physically hurts to get out of bed. For 4 days, I have to practically bend 90 degrees to feel some relief just because I'm underweight. I've almost had to be hospitalized because the pains were just too much for my body to handle. The things you see women on Tik Tok sharing about their 'skinny goals' and 'skinny journey' I can promise you that they're miserable. They're emotional from lack of nutrition, lack of self-love and lack of confidence. The standard shouldn't be 'skinny' or 'slim thick' or even 'curvy'
    It should be HEALTHY.
It sucks I know, but trust me. You don't want to be this skinny. I've been like this all my life and you know all I've ever gotten was shamed for it. Nobody told me they wish they had my body. They said I looked like a skeleton, just because of my metabolism. Now, my insecurity is a trend?? This is why I hate the fashion industry.
Please, it's not worth all of the risks, and long-term health issues just for a few likes. I don't know how many more times I have to repeat myself until this horrid thing is done with. Love yourself, and if you wanna loose/gain weight babes? Totally fine. Just make sure it's healthy, and you feed your body all the right nutrition it needs. (As well coming from an anemic woman) Don't starve yourself just for a stupid trend that'll split in a few months. Please. I know it's hard, but just try to love yourself. It's a sucky, draining, and long road. I've been there. So, I got off the social medias, limited my time with magazines and even youtube, and honestly? I've never felt better about myself.

Just be careful because some women ARE genuinely this small and they are the HEALTHIEST! Also, some women do become THIS SMALL after being curvier and plum and guess what? They are HEALTHY. We have to be VERY careful that we're not projecting. Just because others can fathom how a size 1 can be healthy at 5'7. If you're not a doctor, if you're not a nutritionist, we need to practice shutting up. Specifically if you're not the PERSONAL doctor/nutritionist of said individual. When I was 97 pounds at 5'2 everyone was so shocked. Doctors weren't and found me to be absolutely fine. I also want people to STRESS young girls to start thinking for themselves. It seems like the ONLY TIME young women and girls claim to be themselves is when they want to justify wearing provocative clothing for the male gaze. I don't ever see women say "Hey, I'm a little heavy but I'm healthy as told by a doctor." Or "Yes, I'm super skinny but jokes on you my doctor gave me a nutrition plan and as long as I'm getting my vitamins, I'm fine!" Like come on ladies, stop blaming your insecurities on other women.

I would bounce back and forth from bulimia and calorie restriction, I over exercised, and would go to Mexico weekly for an injection similar to ozempic. My marriage was destroyed, my health, and finally one day my 4 year old daughter refused to drink juice opting for Pepsi Zero and I stopped dead in my tracks. Now I'm 45 and obsessively googling how to mail order semaglutide from Mexico because my husband will not take me across the border, he knows my history and knows I'm about to fall down the ED rabbit hole.
This is breaking my heart for all the young individuals that live on social media and the body shaming "goals" that will kill them. A naturally thick thigh girl here.
This skinny trend has been going on since late 2021. It's something that comes along with the low waist trend. Right about that time, I started gaining some chub again due to working from home, depression and stress eating. I felt down most of this summer as I held myself back from buying new clothes as I thought it'd be better to lose weight and fit in my usual stuff but no time, no energy for that, thus I wasn't going out as much, dressing up as much, enjoying myself as much etc.
Anyways, after some time I started to feel more like myself and started buying clothes that would fit my current shape. I realized that even when I was skinnier I was always conscious about my weight, thighs, shape etc. and it feels more librating to fit your clothes to you instead of trying to fit your ass in them.
I guess what affected me negatively during that period was mostly the fear of not being able to look good in clothes as I loved fashion but trust me, fashion trends work for any body type and weight, even though the media is not showing it. Do search fashion trends for *** size here and lots of inspiring girlies are making videos proving you can be stylish regardless if you need some support believing that.

That started when grunge hit not that they are related just a time frame reference. The dark circles, the pale sick complexion and stringy hair. I remember getting seventeen magazine in the mail each month and I swear the line where butt cheek meets top of leg was airbrushed out! I literally thought I could lose enough weight and I could erase the bottom line of my actual butt cheek. It was crazy!

You are right, models were thin in the 80's & 70's when I was a teenager, but they didn't have that grunge look. Runway models are thin because the clothes are easier to fit & not a lot of expensive fabric has to be used, it is practical for the designers. As a teenager I was thin (still am) but was never bullied for it, nobody was. Nobody I knew worshipped celebrities like they do today, or thought too much about what other people thought. I was brought up to have self respect, maybe that is lacking today.

As a person with a eating disorder and being really skinny I would always watch tiktoks to gain weight and get a dream body. And it never worked so I stopped.

hi fellow teenager of the early 2010s and I remember being on tumblr so much and seeing all these disturbing tricks on how to get skinny, had flashbacks when the old pictures popped up in this video...
It makes me feel sick to my stomache to think this trend is coming back. It ruined a friend of mine (she had to go to an eating dissorder clinic, she's good now) but omg... please let this "trend" die. please.

8:51 that’s disgusting. My grandfather died due to complications with diabetes. People with diabetes truly do rely on their medication. And taking a vital recourse away from an already expensive overpriced market, is evil. my grandma is pre diabetic and I worry that she might one day need these medications, and it won’t be available because” Mrs. So&so wanted to shed a few pounds”

This video made me sick to the stomach!
Never have people talked about skinny shaming, and in fact, this is it! I have never felt more confident in my body than now that I heard of the skinny girl "trend". I've always been naturally skinny and the fact that skinny body types are treated as toxic and something you shouldn't have is absolutely disgusting! It isn't a problem if some sort of body is "trending" because it's all down to your decisions if you want to change your body. Don't try to shame a certain body type because you don't have one.
Remember, just because skinny is seen as beautiful doesn't mean that other bodies aren't beautiful. Stop skinny shaming!

As someone who went through severe ed to the point i didn't give my body fuel for days and lost a bunch of hair and constantly fall, looking at these things going viral and becoming trends and being idealised gives me shivers. It's honestly horrible how one really feels during this and i wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. I hope people realise this is bs and not follow it. And i hope celebs stop promoting it even if it's unintentional

This is really fucked up, Coming from someone who has had an eating disorder, This needs to stop. Starving yourself isn’t healthy. This is coming from me, A girl who has starved herself to the point where I would pass out, and I couldn’t eat because of high levels of stress. This needs to be stopped.

I feel like at this point no one can win, and I know that's said so much nowadays but it's true. I'm skinny and these past few years have been hell for me as I've started growing up and becoming more and more insecure. I've struggled to develop a healthy relationship with food and just seeing this stuff now as skinny as I am it doesn't feel like enough. It took two years to love myself again and now we're back to this despite the whole body positivity movement. Great.

As a woman who have been called names such as "bones" or "skeleton" for how skinny I am all my life, It's saddening how it's okay to call women with who are naturally skinny with such names. But when it it comes to the latter it isn't okay for someone to call out or call someone who is fat or overweight. I've tried so hard to gain weight because I was tired of being called such names when the trendy body type was "curvy". But in the end it does make you think how society doesn't really have a fair treatment no matter what your body type is... Just realized that as long as you are happy with how you look and know that you're healthy physically/mentally that's what matters. There shouldn't be a trend to be followed or what.

I’ve had issues with Kim, who has such a huge audience, treating her body like fast fashion, further promoting these ridiculous and drastic changes instead of spreading body positivity. I’m not saying she has to dedicate her entire platform to body positivity, but I hate that she’s promoting these dumb and dangerous “trends”
