My late Dad was a trumpet player in a couple of midwest big bands. No one famous, but I wish he was still around to appreciate this awesome blend of brass, reeds, and percussion. Great stuff played by TS, with roots in times gone by. Thank you all!
I love the way Shaye 'conducts' the group in such precise yet unpretentious fashion, with just a nod of her cornet, or with a glance of her eyes. This wonderful group has been together for about the same length of time as The Beatles, and yet Tuba Skinny still apparently play mostly for the love of the music, and largely for tips and for sales of recordings offered at each venue. It seems a shame that some New Orleans Business Association or some other such institution doesn't support them a lot better. Maybe I'm mistaken, and perhaps they have a superb recording contract and a wonderful agent who books them months or years in advance, so please correct me if I'm wrong. My suspicion is that they deserve a lot more remuneration than they're probably getting for their tremendous work and long-standing effort. - j q t -

This band has it all talent and a knack for playing to an audience that appreciates good old music, jazz.....would love to see more giving them tips, so that they have funds to travel.
Most of Tuba Skinny's works are great intellectual experiences: interesting and non-schematic improvisations testifying to the great creativity of members of TS. You want to listen!

It looks like Tuba Skinnies sold a washboard (together with Robin) during a tour in France and bought elegant hats for Craig (clarinet) and Barnabus (trombone). They didn't buy anything for Shaye and Erica!
