Returning the phone because of button placement is crazy to me. I dealt with the same issue going from the S22U to the 7 Pro. You definitely get used to it if it's your main device
I'm sure I'll get used to it and I've used pixels forever. I had the seven pro and the six pro and I still have the 6A and the 7A but it never bothered me like this. But if I do return it it will most likely be because of the battery. But honestly I'll probably keep it. I love the form factor
@@DigitalSlang I definitely can understand the battery issue. From what I'm seeing it's very poor. People were saying 5hrs SOT... With the main display and light secondary screen usage
@@ThomasTheTankEngine22Using my pixel Fold to type this as we speak. I am at 7 hours screen on time with 90% using the large inside screen. I still have 23% battery left. I am using Android 14 beta. So not sure why everyone has such a bad battery life. I am guessing it's android 13 causing it. The latest 14 beta supports the Fold. I'm gonna be getting about 8.5 hours screen on time with the inside screen. Also about 80% of that is watching video and about 20% surfing.
Coming from a Zfold 4 the fingerprint sensor is just in the natural position to unlock. It would be uncomfortable if it was lower. It is right where your thumb would naturally go to unlock. I would be annoyed if it was reversed. The worst part for me is no folders in the app drawer, but I'm getting used to it. 1000% agree on the Fold4, I literally never used it closed, it was just too small. I opened it just to respond for a text. This is so nice, and I do use it closed for the most part, but then when reading stuff and streaming content, I use it open obviously. This is just so much more practical.
@@DigitalSlang Also, not to mention, I really like that you don't have to set up the folded screen and the inner display, that was always so annoying to try to set up each one individually. I guess some won't like that, but it just makes it easier to use. I don't want to set up everything twice.
@@lynseyw1978 yeah, I think people will have different opinions on that. I actually prefer to set it up a different way because the screen is much bigger. I would never set it up the same as I would on a smaller display but I understand
Can definitely understand where you're coming from on the buttons, for "Pixel people" we're kinda used to that at this point so it's the opposite way for us, other phones feel weird. Dope vid as always Slang, another banger man
It's basically an unofficial Surface Duo 3 for me. The back gesture even behaves the same when split screening. On the Z Fold and other foldables, the back gesture works based on which app was last used. On the Surface Duo, the back gesture works based on which side you're doing it on. This should be the correct behavior and I'm glad Google is doing that.
Coming from the duo as well. Only thing I wish they'd change is when you are in split screen mode and I want to get rid of one of the apps to go to the homescreen. You swipe up and it gets rid of both apps. I just want it to get rid of one of the apps damnit. That kills me.
I am a Samsung user and I really tried to love the Fold 3, but the narrow screen was not for me. I like what I am seeing and hearing about the Pixel Fold (save the price). I am waiting to see what Oneplus has up their sleeves with their upcoming foldable. Should be an interesting 3rd Quarter! Loved your review; count me in as a new subscriber. 🤠
The narrow front screen on z fold is basically unusable. Under screen camera on the inside screen is not great. Pixel fold solves my 2 biggest complaint on the Samsung z fold .
@@DigitalSlang BTW, I understand your concerns about the power button. I hear that feedback all of the time and it's a muscle memory thing. I am used to it since it's been like that since Nexus. One of my homies that switched to Pixel was like what the hell 🤣🤣💀
Awesome video brother. Thanks for the honest thoughts. Keep the content coming. Hope you have an incredible weekend. Much love and RESPECT. Prayers up.
Good video. As a long time pixel user, I am going to wait to see how the battery is after 2 weeks. Mine have always honestly gotten better. I also think because I use my front display on my fold that it may last a day. I guess we will see. Please update if the battery does get better.
I tried to leave One UI for google but I can't. Good lock is something I can't live without now, I can make the phone exactly the way I want. Googles version of Android seems to be the antithesis of what I would imagine "android customization" was, hell sometimes it's more restrictive than Apple. This phone looks so good, button placement needs to be fixed and it's what I wish the Samsung Fold could be. Fold is too skinny and thick, Pixel fold looks like a normal phone when folded and IMO that's important. Samsung needs to take inspiration from the design of the Pixel fold and apply it their own foldable phones.
Latest news : google has dropped down the trade in values. Zfold 4 trade in value is now $455.00 instead of $900.00 . Flip4 is now $280.00 instead of $700.00. ... I guess they sold way more than what they were expecting.
I get the button placement. Bothers me terribly. And the battery so we are on same page. I do love the phone though. 1500 would have been a perfect price
Good review... im skeptical of the internal screen orientation being opposite of so many app layouts. Maybe that's why samsung kept their longer style? just thinking out loud?.
Just got my first ever pixel ever 2 days ago. Pixel 7 Pro. I shouldn't jinx it but in brief Pixel 7 Pro is a mixed bag. Like it has industry leading AI magics, takes great photos and has an incredible photo editing options, ToF sensor, gorgeous display and more. But all the while it has shitty 5G network coverage, average unbalanced speakers and the infamous heating. Fold here will share these same issues.
So you might return the phone because the volume rocker is at the bottom and the power button is on top. Sounds like you really don't care about the phone too much, for something that simple
I guess since i been using pixels since day 1, me using other phones with volume buttons opposite of the Pixel or with the volume buttons on the opposite side of the power button just feel wrong, i always screen shot on my Redmagic 8 pro
If u using the phone close most of the time u might as get a reg phone. It dont matter if your outsidescreen is wide it should not he used 80 percent of the time when u can get a flagship better spec apple or android candybar
You pay $2,000 for a foldable phone that you want to spend more time using the outer display than the inner one lol. You're better off saving yourself $1,000 and getting slab phone instead.
Waiting on the Fold 5 announcement to decide. I honestly think samsung has thr form factor correct. I love the narrow and one hand friendly cover display and the bezel free inner display. Also I feel like samsung has the aspect ratio correct. Most apps are viewed vertical...I don't wanna rotate my 0hone every time I view Instagram or Facebook. I'm also still a little apprehensive on Google first generation hardware.
@DigitalSlang I know...as incremental as the hardware may be there's always some nice software tweaks and camera improvements. There's also some major complaints with not being able to independently customize your outer and inner displays on the Pixel...seems like a major oversight. I've been using the Fold 4 for a year now and it's worked flawlessly both from a hardware and software perspective. Google is infamous for hardware bugs, I'm curious to see what comes up. Obviously I hope for the best though since a win for Google is a win for foldables and Android in general.
@DigitalSlang foldables are the way forward for sure. I run a Fold 4 and Iphone 14 Pro Max as my personal and work phones and it's honestly painful to use the iPhone for anything other than the camera at this point. And honestly shockingly at times I'm happier with shots I've gotten from my Z Fold.

For me, the ideal front display should be a bit higher (like 1,5 to 2 cm higher).
