I love mine too, would love to trade my obsidian for a porcelain but otherwise zero complaints. Haven't had any heat issues aside from when I initially loaded the phone with all my transfer data. It's been fantastic...but I do love my S23 Ultra too so much so that I feel it's worth keeping over getting a fold 5. I've got my big screen and a stylus if needed. My only gripe is not phone related it's wear OS, please make an update that makes these watches smart enough to quickly pair with 2 devices. Even my apple watch was able to do that. I love toggling phones, total pita to have to wipe the watch and repair with whatever phone I'm using
Totally agree with the points you've made. On the whole, the Pixel Fold is a great device, especially for a first go at it. To your other points about the Android 14 beta, I've been on it for a few days and it's very stable for me. Battery life also got a little better on the beta so I'm excited for the stable release later in the year.
I pretty much agree with your personal assessment. I'm not a spec person, so the chipset needs to show me it's in the ballpark...which it does. I'm kind of extreme with the cover screen, probably using it closer to 75% of the time. I'm currently in Arizona, where it's very bright all the time. The dimness of the screens is impactful, more than other areas. Overall, after one month, this is still my device. It still meets my initial needs..phone first, tablet when I need it, with a decent camera
Pixel Fold was a great phone, I also was mainly using the outside display... which made me feel like if I'm only going to use the cover display for most tasks, why don't I get an overall better experience with something like an S 23 Ultra. At the end of the day, everyone has to choose the device that will meet their daily needs best... and I appreciate TechTubers like yourself that try to represent both camps!
When I'm in bed, I use the inner display to watch video or just use it regular. But out, I mainly use the outside. At work in use it folded like a chair so I don't bend my head down when eating. Love it
That's the thing about the pixel fold. The inner display loses to the Z fold. In aspect ratio, brightness, vibrancy, colors etc. Why buy a foldable. Phone if you are only going to use the outer display lmaooo
I want to see him play the games I play on my fold 5. I have a ps1 emulator that runs 9/10 great only reason point loss is the sound sometimes it lacks but still great experience. Devil may cry full specs and g impact
I'm on of the ones that enjoy the ratio of the fold 4 more than the pixel fold for more one handed use. Even my backup A54 is too wide for me with one handed use. I just have always enjoyed one handed use phones. I traded in my Note 20 Ultra for the fold 3 and couldn't be happier with my experience.
Love the form factor of the Pixel, and I hope it does well so we can get more iterations, but I still can't get behind the tensor g2 chip (for the price, not saying its "bad" per se), and I think waiting for the 2nd or 3rd iteration of this concept will be ideal. Much like the Z fold, which didn't really hit its stride 'til gen 3 (IMO). I don't mind the outer display on the Z fold at all, but I would prefer them to go more in the short, wide aspect ratio direction. Either works for me.
i agree with this assessment 100 percent. Ive been using the pixel fold now for about 2 weeks and agree compared to the z fold series the cover screen is much more useable. It is the perfect size IMO, since when i do need more realestate I have it, and its thin enough to use as a phone without really feeling its too thick to do so. I also have no issue with performance at all and even some games run better on it then the z fold. No heat issues for me at all which is strange some people are saying that. Ive used the phone even recently outside in florida heat filming for about 30mins and never warmed up to a uncomfortable heat. Never had a warning etc, as well as i have had even better battery life with the tensor learning my usuage. My battery with everything on gets the same battery life as my iphone 14 pro. Also i use my macbook pro m1 charger block and the phone charges really fast not sure if thats anything that may help anyone but usually i go from 2am to 7pm with about 30% left then i charge it for mabe 30 mins get about 85% then go on about my night. so for me this is the best form factor for a foldable phone.
I had a zfold 3 a while back and I agree I used the zfold open way more then the the pixel fold. If I am at home my pixel fold stays open but when I'm out and about it usually stays closed and I rarely open it. I have really enjoyed the pixel fold and I'm glad I got one.
That is the best explanation I’ve heard on YT. It makes sense!!!!! I’ve had all the Galaxy fold phones and most of the time I had to open the phone. I don’t have the pixel fold yet, I’m getting it today….
Absolutely agree with you Shane. The Pixel Fold is 2 devices v the Fold 4 which is basically one device. And I want 2 devices. The front screen to send or read texts or WhatsApp. And to check the weather etc. But if I'm trying to watch a video, or read a pdf, or organise notes or Gmail, then I need that inner screen. Or the twin app setup (which could be better to launch quicker like the Duo). I have also had total stability (14 beta) & my battery life has gotten much better, to the point where it's 15% better than Z Fold 4 imo. I do find notes slow, and the inner screen hard to see in the sun (which you generally don't need). The camera setup is awesome. Major niggle is Twitter on inner screen (those black bars are very unfinished imo, I end up using the cover display, or split screen). Versus my expectations the Pixel Fold is significantly better, the best foldable I've had. The future of foldables imo.
Fair enough. Zfold is more like a small tablet with a cover display as you said. I do 99% my things on the inner display. Luckily for me, the use case of my phone and a small tablet is not much different, and most of the time a small tablet does the job better.
I agree with you and i love my pixel fold. The hardest part for me is deprograming myself from the samsung universe because i have had probably every samsung foldable and S series ever made except for the S23, which was too close to the S22. The device works very fluid despite having the Tensor 2 chip and i have noticed zero lag. Hands down, i love the external display! The pixel fold makes me realize how limiting the outer display on the z fold 4 was. My only 2 gripes about the pixel fold is i hope google will work on updates to enhance the customizations on the home screens. i have not found a home screen layout that i like, and i hate having that google bar at the botton, plus on the internal display, apps cannot go in the middle of the screen. its almost the inner display acts as if its 2 seperate displays. My other gripe is, software updates take a VERY LONG TIME on the pixel fold. The last software update google pushed out was like 35 MB and it literally took an hour...
I returned my pixel fold and now awaiting the Z fold. I couldn’t be comfortable with the idea of having a 1800 dollar phone but using it like a 700 dollar bar phone. Just personal preference to have functionality match value.
Isn't that a little backwards though? Like, you had a device that had good cover display and good tablet display, but it ended up with you using cover display "too much" to warrant the cost, so instead you get an equally expensive device that has a worse cover display so that you are encouraged to use it more in tablet mode?
@@core_fin it's not about the cover display. That's just one one aspect. Most z fold users agree that the cover display is too narrow. So, with that aside...
@@core_fin you are absolutely correct. The “worse” cover display you mention is what I like most. The slimmer design allows me to easily use the phone with one hand. And when I need or even want to use a bigger canvas, I simply open the phone. I don’t need to be creative by using the phone in tent mode and still end up on using one screen. The Pixel Fold is a 1800 dollar phone that I don’t feel the need to unfold. It’s design doesn’t fit my lifestyle and it’s software isn’t worth the cost. I had bug issues. Lock Screen elements getting stuck on the home screen when I unlock it. Frame rate dropping because I run my displays on 60 hz to save power plus I have no desire to run frames that high unless I need them. Galaxy locks it at 60 while the pixel doesn’t. The display display is surprisingly dim in the sunlight even though it claims to be bright enough to view contents. It’s not a bad phone, but from a utility standpoint it is a waste of money.
@@Hashpipe36 completely agree! They could make it just a bit wider and a bit shorter. But I’m using a iPhone 13 mini right now, so I’m not complaining if they never change the design.
I got mine for...almost a month now, I love it. battery life is descent, last me a day, I'm the casual usual, I don't spend my days watching videos on UA-cam or public media, yeah!! I have a life a career, the full screen is only when I want to multitask. Front screen does every already. I highly recommend it.
Another fantastic installment sir. I use my fold a lot like you use yours about 50/50. Phone stuff is so easy on the wider screen and I actually have been doing serious work with video editing and photography with the tablet mode. Actually did a photo shoot, a mobile photo shoot and edited on site that paid for a third of the price of the of the phone. So I am a huge believer and it's quality and it's rock solid premium build. Anyway, as I was saying before I drifted away. Great content. Keep it up!
I think the different screen sizes, software and features for foldables will drive different behaviors. There is a new and strong desire for new devices to be the same or similar When Samsung introduced the Fold, Samsung didn't give us any direction with what actions are best on the cover display versus the inner display. Even after 3 previous iterations prior to the Fold 4, tech influencers didn't quite figure out the best ways to maximize the two forms. So I decided that I would rid myself of the preconceived expectations from using a traditional slab smartphone. After 2 months and a lot (A LOT!) of changes, I started to figure out what apps and activities to use on the cover display versus inner display. I also had to figure what transitioned well between the cover display to the inner display and vice-versa.
I was considering importing a honor magic but no Google play services. I'm not a fan of doing hacks and mods just to get play services which I rely on. Plus warranty! Warranty is a must for a 1800 dollar device. I don't have money to blow. Samsung, Google, and OnePlus coming are the only options for the US
I'm still happily on my Surface Duo (bought second-hand at a ridiculous price 2 months after the Duo II was released). No primary screen, thin and light.
Pixel Fold is done right, the passport form factor is the one true correct folding phone form factor. Samsung failed miserably by making a hotdog bun form factor. Pixel Fold ++
Texting isn't the part I think anybody has trouble reaching, it's the top third of the screen that I can't reach without a significant shift in my grip or using a second hand.
@@scaryifliteral idk maybe I just have bigger hands because I have no problem with it. Also I have something on the back that I slide my middle finger in which allows for more support. For me I use the outer display 85% of the time maybe even 95%. I consume a lot of UA-cam in this form factor and its more than enough for me. I can see people wanting to use the pixel more because of what you explained though. I just personally think the outer screen doesn't need to be that big
I see a lot of reviewers loving the front screen of the Pixel Fold. As much as I understand what they mean, I prefer a wide but taller front screen. Such as the Honor Magic V2. It is than that you can say that you really have two devices (in one).
I've had my PF for a week and I'm in love! 💖 I get pretty much the same battery life as my Z Fold 4, it only warms when I charge it, I love the cover display, and it doesn't feel slow at all with Android 14! I'm happy I got the PF 😊
If the pixel fold had an spen, then I'd be sold. I own both devices. I still lean toward zfold more as I am one of the rare creatures who actually use the spen. Also, I'm annoyed by apps in pixelfold not fitting on the screen without black bars when opened. It diminishes the value of the foldable phone.
I've used the pixel fold for 2 weeks and I was a surface dou user before. Ive noticed that the surface duo is better in some aspects and the pixel is better than the surface duo in some aspects. It's hard to decide which is better.
About the size of the Z-Fold 4/5 folded, after checking it against my Xperia 1iii and my girlfriend's S23, it's smaller than an S23, on the width size and lenght size... but the most important is, compared to my Xperia 1iii (since I'm changing for a Z-Fold 5, and I go for DeX as the deal breaker) is that the Z-Fold is barely/insignificantly less wide than the Xperia, a bit less taller than the Xperia, but it is in the same ballpark of format I'm used with. And, personnaly, being able to reach the other side of the screen with one thumb and moving my grip to reach the top, vs needing the second hand to reach the other side of the screen, as for the Pixel Fold, is better to me. Still, in the end, is a question of preferences, and both devices are almost as good as each other... but still... DeX...
I think the "better" device will depend on what you intend to use most. If you're looking to go tablet 80% of the time the go for the Galaxy. If you prefer to use a regular phone 80% of the time then go for thr Pixel. Both phones are capable to do either but obviously have a specialization. The number of pros and cons completely depent on your own requirements.
When I'm on the go I use the front screen. Once all the work is done and it's time to relax I open it up for the big screen media consumption. Business in the front party on the inside if you will. Also with regards to the apps not being stretched, stretching would be nice but even more useful in my opinion would be the ability to use the empty space to scroll
While I'd like the pixel fold, I use Samsung Dex alot. Pixel doesn't have a desktop mode but apparently it's rumored it may come. Either way rumors are not concrete hence why I went with the Fold 5. I got a lapdock and also a spare portable monitor. I got a 3 in 1 device technically. Cover display is still good for watching UA-cam and doing basic stuff candy bar style on the way Fold 5. I got a tablet opening it up. And then with Dex I got a laptop replacement. While I still use my windows laptop for actual work, Dex has changed the game for me since I never used it until this month. I've been rocking the note 20 ultra since 2020 and S9+ prior since 2018 😂.
Shane, please do a detailed comparison between the features and capabilities of the Google Pixel Fold 1 and the Surface Duo. What do you think one phone can do that the other can't do so well given the fixes that were made to the Surface Duo. Besides the camera, which the Surface Duo doesn't have at all.
💯 % on Par I use my Galaxy Fold 4 outter display for phone calls fast email Text , Inner screen is for the best Media consumption great battery life, no heat no bezels 😊
I ended up going for the fold 5 because the inner screen bezels were too thick for my choice on the pixel fold, but I am jealous of that compact outter screen in some cases!
I agree about the screen differences. I say that the z fold has a main screen and a cover display, pixel fold has a main screen and an inner screen. Whichever one works more for you is a better fit
The explanations you gave about the Z Fold are acceptable but I will choose the Pixel Fold over and over again. The software on the Z Fold is better but I choose the Pixel Fold
I used to think my S23 Ultra was heavy, until I started using the Pixel Fold as my daily. Now the S23 Ultra feels sooo light! I have the Z Fold 5 coming in a week, while I'm testing out the Pixel Fold. At the end of the day, everyone's uses and needs will be different. Here's my 2 cents so far... - I miss the large screen form factor on the front screen (coming from a Pixel 7 Pro and S23 Ultra). - I find myself using the Pixel Fold in portrait mode most of the time because that aspect ratio feels more natural to me for the device. - I'm always torn about missing the convenience of the stylus on the S23 Ultra. I use the stylus enough to warrant buying the Z Fold 5. - I miss the top of the line cameras. Why can't they just put in the same cameras as the Pixel 7 Pro and S23 Ultra? Why cut corners? - In short, I feel the Z Fold 5 may be a better fit for my needs. Time will tell.
@@samanthamarasca8864 Yes I've arranged for that trade-in. But I really don't want to give up the S23 Ultra quite yet. I might do my Pixel 7 Pro instead.
deffo get you, I have been using the screen on the outside of my fold more than inside like 70/30 for the outside screen so love it google got the cover display bang on love my fold as soon as the fullscreen inside screen apps is sorted it will be incredible
I think the different screen sizes, software and features for foldables will drive different behaviors. There is a new and strong desire for new devices to be the same or extremely similar. It comes from the constant incremental upgrades we see every year. It has made us resistant to radical changes that force us to do things differently. When Samsung introduced the Fold, Samsung didn't give us any direction with what actions are best on the cover display versus the inner display. Even after 3 previous iterations prior to the Fold 4, tech influencers didn't quite figure out the best ways to maximize the two forms. So I decided that I would rid myself of my preconceived expectations from using a traditional slab smartphone. I decided to start over and accept the Fold 4 as something completely new. After 2 months and a lot (A LOT!) of changes, I started to figure out what apps and activities to use on the cover display versus inner display. I also had to figure what transitioned well between the cover display to the inner display and vice-versa. It wasn't easy. But once I was able to unlock the device's abilities, I discovered how each form could work for me. I would prefer a 6.8 inch cover display. If Samsung does makes some type of Fold Ultra with the similar dimensions as the S23U, it would be the perfect form factor for me. But for now, I will rock with the Fold because of One UI and app optimization. Samsung is ahead of Google on apps optimized for the inner display.
that is the best way to say it. its a great cover display. i love using the inner display but i find myself wanting a better camera. s 24 ultra may be my next go to. i use dex a lot with my UPerfact pro x so it may be time to say by to folds for now,
Pre-ordered the Z Fold 5 because the trade in for 1k made it hard to resist, and at 23 bucks a month there's never going to be a better time to try it. However, the pixel's outer screen is just better, which has me a little jealous. If Samsung had widened up their up just a half an inch they'd be dominating in every facet. Competition is great though, so next year and likely even more so in 2025 fold devices are going to be in their prime. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the review.
I believe you explained it perfectly. The pixel offers a great phone experience and in times when you would want to use a tablet boom you have that too. Whereas the z fold by samsung is just a good tablet and the outside screen is not really a great phone experience
I found a case that has a kickstand on the hinge that let's me prop phone up in it's landscape mode for full-screen videos. but I love the options it gives me to watch the way I want.
We'll, we knew this would happen.. But I still love my Surface Duo 2 and I do not think right now I need a new device.. But this is Windows Phone all over again. Hope there is some light at this end of increasingly dark tunnel.
Thanks Shane. How's your dog??? All good stuff in your update to keep in mind. Mine arrives this week and I think my expectations are realistic. I also use Google-fi cell service and it saves me huge monthly service fees. Google - Fi also gave their existing customers 500 bucks off the price of the fold. Thanks. .
I would say i am using on Fold 4 mostly cover screen, even for looking that video and for writing that comment. I am very fine with that phone, works for me as for you that pixel one.
Great video! Totally agree with what you said about the Z Fold cover display only really being for quick and small tasks as it doesnt really encourage using it. I havnt used the Pixel Fold cos its not available in my region but I felt the same way with the Honor Magic Vs. It felt like a phone and it felt like a tablet, rather than a tablet that has a cover display. Also, you had a bit of a weird metallic reverb going on in the audio where camera points down at the desk and to the phone.
I agree with the term "cover display" for the Galaxy (II have the Fold 4). It seems that even Samsung sees it this way too, as the S-pen is only supported in the inner display.
Pixel Fold is the perfect size. Now Android app developers just need to improve their apps. We have Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet now, for tablet interface.
With duo losing support, I gotta start looking at other companies. Not sure I can support microsoft in the future anymore. I'll see what one+ offers. Until samsung rectifies that outer display I can't roll with that. Unfortunately all the best folding devices aren't even supported in the US
The front display on the ZFold was always an afterthought. You need to remember what the front screen looked like on the Fold 1, Samsung never considered the aspect ratio for the Fold series. Google did.
Totally agree with your take. I got slammed when I pointed out how much more usable the Pixel Fold is vs the Fold 4 in Reddit and how I wished Samsung made the Fold shorter and wider like the Pixel Fold. I would bet my ratio will be 70cover:30tablet if I had the Pixel Fold.
The Candy bar aspect ratio of fold 5 is ok for quickly checking fb and messages.... also it is easy to hold the phone using one hand and putting the phone i tighr jeans when folded ... i also like the portrait aspect ratio of fold 5 when usimg the main screen... and doing multi tasking...
You can also use it reverse laptop mode, in other words close the device and open youtube on the front screen, then open device slightly while leaving bottom of device on your table or surface. As you slowly open the phone the front screen will rotate to landscape. I prefer this to tent mode so i have access to volume buttons. Edit: i just realized this is just a description of tent mode but the phone is resting on the back panel rather than the two edges lmao
Great review, I can’t get the pixel fold in Australia and use fold…however I am not getting this year and decided on flip 5…hopefully Z fold 6 will be better cover display
So how does it work for you as a phone...I have had mine maybe two weeks and speakerphone volume is lower than desired. More critically, I have several complaints that my voice is muddled using the speakerphone.... intermittently. Still searching for solutions. Also, my inner screen stops responding to gestures (as your Z fold did in the video), closing and reopening the screen does not clear it immediately, power off and on ditto. But, close it use the outside display for a while, and eventually the inner screen works again. Pondering an exchange, just hate to go through setup again....have to watch all of your Pixel Fold vids again to find the secret useful stuff. Great videos, BTW, thank you.
I have both Pixel Fold and a Z Fold 5. The Pixel's cover screen provides better overall user experience; however the one lacking feature is no pen input....It would be a clear win for Pixel if they had enabled / included pen support. Maybe in the iteration.
Really find the aspect ratio battle interesting. Samsung have played to the apps in the Play Store that default to portrait so you don't have to turn the phone like you do with Google. Like you showed Samsung also made those apps fill the screen. While Microsoft and Google aspect ratio reminds me more of a computer screen (which I prefer). I think I might jump ship from Samsung to google when version 2 comes (or microsoft when version 3 comes out ??) if more app makers get on board with folds. It really makes it difficult to decide with the way things are now because either way each fold has its disadvantages.
the only thing I did for my battery was turn off the 120hz. I never see a diff with it on or not, but turning it off made the battery work better than on my fold 4 also with 120 hz off. Ive had my pixel screen dim once from working outdoors and it overheating. it got too dim to see which was kinda annoying. but also nothing I'm not used to because my fold 4 did the same thing. and I'll trade better outer screen typing on the pixel fold if it's gonna get hot when used outdoors. the camera did say it wouldn't be able to do 4k while it was overheated. but given 5 minutes it cooled down and was back to normal use. it's essentially the Duo Pro I wanted duo to be... at this point.
I know it's been about the Fold and Open, but just noticed a sizable update for the Duo 2 this morning. Over 3gig worth. I havent had time to explore it, yet.
Just switched from my surface duo 2 to this pixel fold. Still getting the hang of using split screen. Split screen is way easier on the surface duo, but once I get the hang of split screen on the pixel fold, I don't think it'll be an issue.
Yes, I wanted to know if the Android 14 improvements was aimed at Pixels or for the whole Android sub-system? Google have said that they are doing stuff just for Pixels so we may not see this on other phones.
Very well said! I do miss a good camera, though, and may be going to the s 24 ultra when it's out. These phones offer great displays, but I'm mainly on dex if I need to multitask. Maybe when the cameras get better, I'll try the folds out again.
For me the pixel fold is great while using the cover display. But that inner tablet display just sucks for me. And thats not because of the bezels. The central crease on the display is too wide for me and I simply cannot accept that this thing does not open fully flat with that 1800 dollar price bracket. Closed is great and the size is fantastic but then whats the use of foldable when you do most of the things in folded form . Z fold 5 even with that remote control aspect ratio when folded is still the better device with more value for money.
i love this phone, guys 😫

They should have never made the front screen regular sized. Ppl will just use the front screen
That's the thing about the pixel fold. The inner display loses to the Z fold. In aspect ratio, brightness, vibrancy, colors etc. Why buy a foldable. Phone if you are only going to use the outer display lmaooo

I agree 100%. The closed form factor doesn't bother me on Z fold. Plus when i open it up I can still hold it in one hand.
I had a zfold 3 a while back and I agree I used the zfold open way more then the the pixel fold. If I am at home my pixel fold stays open but when I'm out and about it usually stays closed and I rarely open it. I have really enjoyed the pixel fold and I'm glad I got one.
I just got my surface duo 2 and have been on it 1 week now....I just can't think of any better phone than this❤
That is the best explanation I’ve heard on YT.
Well put.
Keep it up!
As a hearing impared person I wish some phone reviewers would actually review CALL QUALITY.
Nobody does that anymore.
I think the different screen sizes, software and features for foldables will drive different behaviors. There is a new and strong desire for new devices to be the same or similar
When Samsung introduced the Fold, Samsung didn't give us any direction with what actions are best on the cover display versus the inner display. Even after 3 previous iterations prior to the Fold 4, tech influencers didn't quite figure out the best ways to maximize the two forms.
I'm so excited to see what a 2nd gen version of this phone will be like
For the algorithm. ✊
appreciate the well thought out real world review bro. keep doing your thing!
My 7 Pro would get warm like that too it's just a Pixel thing. The chip just runs hot, it doesn't hurt the hardware and it feels great in the winter.
The z fold 4 is perfect. Folded the cover display is more than big enough. You can easily reach across the whole phone to text with one hand.
Nobody want that booty ass phone lol
@@sidney1234uscI also have no problems with it and have average hands
I completely understand what you said about the z-fold vs this phones cover display.
I say use whatever display fits your situation. People just need to let other people live 😂
Someone will always be upset at the smallest of things
100%. Someone telling someone else they're "using their phone wrong" is about as stupid as it gets.
God, I LOVE that front screen on the Pixel. HATE the bezels, hate the crease. I HATE the cover screen on the zFold.
I'm not sure 80% is the bar, but I get where you're coming from.
Awesome take once again. Thanks for the great content
I love the z fold outside screen. Z fold is still king
Have you seen this? ua-cam.com/video/BLbGuMBV_80/v-deo.html
💯 % on Par I use my Galaxy Fold 4 outter display for phone calls fast email Text , Inner screen is for the best Media consumption great battery life, no heat no bezels 😊
My honeymoon phase will end days before my Pold 2 is being delivered 🙂
as some one who never payed so much attention to my home screen think i may steal how you have set out home work social
also getting fold 5 as my first foldable, mainly as i wanted another phone which is iPhone 5 size
I left the Fold for all the reasons you mentioned. Pixl Fold seems to be the perfect device for me, so I'm waiting for the second release!
Loving the form factor. I wanted a phone first and tablet second. Fold is perfect for me.Just general out and about and it's the cover screen I go to.
Did you trade your S23 Ultra in towards the z fold 5? I sort of want one, but don't want to pay full price and I really do love my Ultra
@@samanthamarasca8864 Yes I've arranged for that trade-in. But I really don't want to give up the S23 Ultra quite yet. I might do my Pixel 7 Pro instead.
rock solid vid man.
deffo get you, I have been using the screen on the outside of my fold more than inside like 70/30 for the outside screen so love it google got the cover display bang on love my fold as soon as the fullscreen inside screen apps is sorted it will be incredible
As fold 4 users i agree with you 90%. Remaining 10% is Google doesn't have Spen support and hand writing software which are very important to me
I typically don't comment on tech videos because no controversy. That's it, please continue.
I'm not sure I understand fully, but I will certainly continue
@@scaryifliteral I saw a "for the algorithm" post, so that was my version. I like your content, just trying to help the cause.
We can’t please everyone! Nicely done! 😊
Samsung is ahead of Google on apps optimized for the inner display.
that is the best way to say it. its a great cover display. i love using the inner display but i find myself wanting a better camera. s 24 ultra may be my next go to. i use dex a lot with my UPerfact pro x so it may be time to say by to folds for now,
I use the d-brand case for my fold 4. Best case ever, great qualify
Now use the fold5 as trade in for this pixel fold! 😅
Shane, which one would you say it's the best: Google Pixel Fold or Samsung Z Fold 4?
I believe you explained it perfectly. The pixel offers a great phone experience and in times when you would want to use a tablet boom you have that too. Whereas the z fold by samsung is just a good tablet and the outside screen is not really a great phone experience
Love my pixel fold as well. I'll be skipping the Zfold this year because of it
Spot on video!
Thanks. .
He's recovering well. Seems like close to normal again!
I just bought the skin for mine leather dark brown does your pixel get even hotter than normal or same as without?
Not seeing a difference
With duo losing support, I gotta start looking at other companies. Not sure I can support microsoft in the future anymore. I'll see what one+ offers. Until samsung rectifies that outer display I can't roll with that. Unfortunately all the best folding devices aren't even supported in the US
Very helpful and informative..great job 😊
The front display on the ZFold was always an afterthought. You need to remember what the front screen looked like on the Fold 1, Samsung never considered the aspect ratio for the Fold series. Google did.
And they got it wrong with the inner display... As you can tell by using a Samsung fold
I cannot believe i've already had my PF for a month! WOW!!!
What screen protector do you use?
Portrait > landscape
Really find the aspect ratio battle interesting. Samsung have played to the apps in the Play Store that default to portrait so you don't have to turn the phone like you do with Google. Like you showed Samsung also made those apps fill the screen. While Microsoft and Google aspect ratio reminds me more of a computer screen (which I prefer). I think I might jump ship from Samsung to google when version 2 comes (or microsoft when version 3 comes out ??) if more app makers get on board with folds. It really makes it difficult to decide with the way things are now because either way each fold has its disadvantages.
What's the next title "Pixel Fold 18 months later, did I drink too much wine?" 😂
the only thing I did for my battery was turn off the 120hz.
Make no mistake, this review is absolutely spot on with my experience
Though I'd only recommend it at a discount 💰
The cover screen on the z fold 4 works great if you have tiny fingers.
I just bought a battery pack. Seems like no matter the battery's size, in ANY phone, at about the 6-month mark you really need one anyway.
Just listened to an old Nomad Tech...who is (Danny Revieno) link to his work possibly? Sorry for spelling. Thanks Shane.
Are you happy with the St😢ock Launcher? I've always gone with Nova Launcher for me set up for it's tons of customizations
Yeah, no real complaints for me
I 😍 mine. A few changes to be made nxt yr and I'll get the nxt one too
Using the android 14 latest beta on the Pixel 7, and it seems to improve battery life. I wonder if the fold would also benefit in a similar way
Yes, I wanted to know if the Android 14 improvements was aimed at Pixels or for the whole Android sub-system? Google have said that they are doing stuff just for Pixels so we may not see this on other phones.
Very awesome case!
I'm still worried about the crease damage.... how durable is it? Thats the only reason why I'm not getting it yet....
Very well said! I do miss a good camera, though, and may be going to the s 24 ultra when it's out. These phones offer great displays, but I'm mainly on dex if I need to multitask. Maybe when the cameras get better, I'll try the folds out again.
Cameras are the most overrated feature in a phone. You use your display far more often than the camera. Guarantee it!!!
@soberanisfam1323 this is true
ah! Jimmy eat world is amazing. Bleed america is one of my favorite albums
the cover display dimensions on the z fold SUCKS!
