Metal Detecting The NYC Forests In The Snow: Finding Treasure After Rage Quitting 😂

- Welcome back to the Metal Detecting NYC channel. In this vlog we go metal detecting in the woods with friends. Treasure hunting in an old place is different, look what at stuff we found this time! I use WS6 Master, which has the same capabilities as Deus 2, despite a lot of disbelief. Also, I metal detect blind in the snow and almost rage-quit - winter metal detecting can be tricky, but you could still have a lot of fun, be prepared for mud! Don't forget to leave a comment below and subscribe to my channel. Stay tuned!

Hi, my name is Merrill Kazanjian. New York City is an amazing place to go metal detecting. We have lots of parks, colonial history and great beaches for beach detecting. I have gone to all five boroughs of New York City To Metal Detect and beyond. I also currently own 22 metal detectors. I want to have the best and I want to help you choose the best as well. I thought about going that route have 2 deus 1 ' s all the coils but elliptical. Love there machines !!!
What you think is a gear is actually part of a parasol.
Thank you!
I agree
@@MetalDetectingNYC, Merrill, I'm not sure if you're aware but some of those small iron triangles could be "trade points". Colonials, the Hudson Bay Company, and French traders traded them to the Indians for furs and stuff.
Never ceases to get me when you broke out that rap video. Merrill has always gone above with his videos
Thank you! If you look far enough back on my channel you’ll see about 150 rap songs. (All about metal detecting) 🤣
Glad you are not breaking away from why I love watching your channel. The Large Cent Rap, Taco Bell has been unlocked etc. Sure you are working for Deus, but you can still have fun. 😊
Literally one of the first sentences they said to me was that they don't want me to change my approach. They want me to be me. And thats all I can be! :)
@@MetalDetectingNYC And that is all that needs to be said for the XP team, Class acts through and through. Great company!
@@TehSnipez Thank you!
The thing at 7:30 I believe is part to an old parasol umbrella. Love the video. Would love to get out with u guys one time. I’m local
Sure email me at kazanjianm@gmail.com
The ground in the forest ground is insulated by the leaf litter. That's why it stays thawed longer than a field.
That makes sense!
Been off the grid with UA-cam for a while but you peak my interest with the puck. thanks Merrill. Tell Deus they couldn't have picked a better liaison.
Thank you for the long term support!
That was a fun day out with so many fellow detectors some interesting one of a kind finds.
Thank you Virginia!
It was so nice to hook up with the crew again and hunt like old times. I needed that. We gots to go again 🙃this year New York is going to look like Swiss cheese 👨🦯🕳️🕳️🕳️👨🏻🦯🕳️🕳️🕳️🕳️👨🏿🦯🕳️🕳️🕳️👨🏽🦯🕳️🕳️🕳️

It was great to see our friend "The Mole" in this video! Great collaboration with friends!
The Triangle could be a Kettle Point, an arrowhead made by Colonial-era Indians from cooking pots. And an excellent scabbard tip too!
WOW! I want to say thank you! I learn so much from the comments!
Or a "trade point".
I'm glad to hear you didn't call a shotgun shell a bullet. This is good progress. 👍
😂 Im getting there! Slowly....but getting there!
@@MetalDetectingNYC You're the best, Merrill. Thanks for doing what you do, and for being so darned passionate about it. I have learned a lot from your videos. Thank you!🙏
HONORED!!!!!@@toadrepublic
Excellent digs my friend. And keep up the songs and rap. That one is one of my favorites.
Also I can’t wait to hear more on the ws6
Your rage quitting attitude was definitely saved by that rap. That’s sword sheath tip was pretty awesome. And what’s wrong with a MERC Dime? ha ha ha. They are one of my favourites to dig, of course I’m from north of the border, so they are not as common up here. Anyway Good vid Merrill.
I love detecting in the woods and in winter. Easy to read the land and the dead leaves on the ground help keep the ground from freezing.
I enjoyed your hunt Merrill you guys had some really nice finds. Good luck to you all.
I didnt read all of the comments, but Im sure someone already said your gear is a parasol slide to an old sun umbrella. Loved seeing your collab with our friend Dogstar!
" Rage-Quit " AKA a tantrum 😂
The rarest of all unlocks. The copper rap. Nice!
😊
Nice and cold hunt 😂. Congrats Merrill and friends
Great time digging with you gentlemen! Looking forward to the next outing!
You guys had so much fun. Enjoyed the Rap and the good finds you all got out.. Congrats on the Merc. Too cold for me to even want to get out and swing.. Happy Hunting.
You guys are hilarious! Nice video and now you got me interested in the puck.
Merrill I love using the WS6 master in the woods. Heck I use mine all the time. I've been thinking about putting the WS6 wrist strap to use. Truly the only difference using the puck is no back light, you can only save one custom program per factory program, and you the difference of water resistant to 3ft and the rc 60 feet submersible.
Most of us don't go underwater anyway😊
And hers a cool explanation on why the ground in the woods doesn't freeze as fast as open areas. 1 leaf clutter and pine needles on the ground act as insulation. 2 there's not a much wind to rapidly cook the ground. 3 when plant materials are composting heat is given off. 4 the snow also helps insulate the ground.
I've been digging all year. Last week was subzero, but this week is looking good. As long as the snow cover stays low this year I believe I'll be able to detect all winter long! In the woods.
Thanks for all you do Merrill! And thanks for allowing all of us to learn with you!
Ps I would be honored if you could check out my end of the year wrap up video. All finds are from the XP Deus 2. It was my best year ever!
Give a ‘hole’ new meaning to playing in the snow 😂 You guys look like you not only had a good time, but made some great recoveries. Love the scabbard tip. And your song was good man, I don’t care what they say, you deserve props for that. 👍
Great video. The ground seemed pretty good to dig in, especially after the freezing temps we've been having.
Hey Anthony. I was shocked at how easy it was to dig in to the ground there.
I’ve been to that point of rage quitting once or twice myself! But usually just when I do I find something good and all is calm in the forest again! I’m still learning the Deus II but I’m liking it so far ! Nice copper I did find my 1st coin with my machine a King George the II 1731 maybe! After digging old shot gun head stamps all morning! Season hunters look down on the mercury dimes ! Great video 👍🐆🐆
Thank you!
The triangle piece you found looks like an old kettle point from the 1600s when the first settlers were trading copper kettles and the Indians would make them into points some were shaped like yours and others were conical shaped. One end would be wrapped around a stick and the other end would be wrapped tighter into a point.
Music video made my night.
Thank you!
Ive got big plans for Facebook this year: facebook.com/metaldetectingnyc
the "triangle" in the very beginning looked like a kettle point. There was a nice looking skate key in the last pic.
Dude, you are hilarious. Great job as always!
Glad you enjoyed!
I finally got back to finish this video. I almost missed the Large Cent Rap.Great hunt with great guys👋👍
Up here in FROZEN Vt. we have a long wait till we can get back out to detecting. Your videos keep us warm , informed and entertained!! Thanks, and don't listen to those armchair critics; your Copper Rap is hilarious!😝😝🤣
I appreciate that! 😊
Dude you crack me the hell up 🤣🤣🤣
Great to see the crew back
I knew you wasn't changing your channel it's just nice to have you back lol
Keep going mate can't praise this channel enough
Regards Tony
Thank you Tony!
Stay warm Merrill good hunt 👍🦀
Nice hunt guys thanks for sharing!!!!!
Hopefully Jeff can inform us what he got once he got those 4 coins cleaned up. I am trying the peroxide method with a sonic cleaner and it is amazing
Awesome video (again)!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
New Subscriber. Great information on the WS6. We love our Deus and are thinking of someday upgrading to the Deus II
Awesome! Thank you!
Gear at 7:15 might have been a parasol slide? Awesome finds and a fun hunt. Thanks for sharing!!!
Looks cold out there!
22 degrees. It was cold !
Loved the song! Had to watch it twice.
Looks like you and your friends all had a Good Time 👍
Always! I had a moment of frustration but then I reminded myself I was metal detecting.
LOL GREAT JOB GOOD INFO AND FUN!
Glad you enjoyed it
Bro I need that large cent rap on a short. Love that!
Diggin Buddy thank you for supporting my channel for such a long time!
@@MetalDetectingNYC of course! Thanks for being so entertaining!
It’s good to see you out went out and had some fun. Found some cool stuff so how’s that new detector working ?
Thank you! Its all XP now since I became their ambassador. I have the ORX and HF coil charged up and I am looking forward to using that!
nice work, great finds!
Thanks 👍
The sword tip is actually a candle snuffer.
I’m going out in the snow ❄️ too. If Merrill can do it, I can to 😊
Could that triangle possibly be a kettle point? I seem to remember Steph digs these.
YEAH!! Bust that rap!
Merc's find me too. Even a farm field other diggers will be pulling coppers and buttons and I get the Merc.
Great video Merrill,thanks
Bro that rap was fireeee hahah:) great vid
Thank you!
Fantastic content!
Much appreciated!
Really interesting Merrill. Thank you man. It's a sword 'Chape', not sheath😊.. The chape was the protective "toe" of the sheath/scabbard. Extremely nice find!
Actually, we found out it's a candle suffering from the mid 1800s
That'd make more sense Merrill. It's obviously flattened-out a wee bit, which may have given it a 'chape-like' initial appearance. Dagger/Sword chapes were big 'in vogue' in Medieval Britain.@@iicozoii34 I've a small, rather mangled, bronze Med' dagger pommel that I found years ago, but so far no chapes. Cheers for the feed-back man.
That triangle looks like a kettle point
I did some testing on the deus one today mostly in 25khz x35 coil, stock deus hot except I turned audio response and sensitivity down because I was indoors
Small pieces of silver were coming in as whispers, my large silver rings rang good but small charms rang in as a whisper
A Stirling stud earring was a whisper but a very small sterling loop earring was loud and woke me up
I also tested a bunch of non-,precious jewelry
All stuff I found loud and clear with the legend whispering on the deus 1, I want to use the deus in trashy areas, but now I'm afraid I'll miss things, I haven't used the deus yet, got it this winter
When I show the deus 2 remote indoors I have to turn down the sensitivity due to EMI. That plays a big part in it. Just so you don't lose faith , here is a video of the Deus 2 pulling a coin at 20 inches. ua-cam.com/video/i-dADhLV_PQ/v-deo.htmlsi=H3mE_wXLoeS4qXhD
Turn up the audio response
Nice work boys!!
C+ on the rap my friend!
The woods stay diggable the longest because of the leaves making a blanket of compost.
So, was the "triangle" a kettle-point?
Interesting! Thank you! I am always learning. Kettle Points: arcane.org/2021/07/14/17th-century-native-american-kettle-point-arrowheads/
The sword scabbard is really intresting. I have metal detected off and on for over 40 years. I think its a good pastime. It can evolve history and dreams of treasures but mostly its up to detectorist to define why they enjoy detecting. Why do you enjoy it?
Looks cold but in the woods the ground doesn’t freeze!
Yeah it is the last place to freeze.
@@MetalDetectingNYC as a teacher you would appreciate my favorite subject in high school was earth science. The leafy material and upper layers of earth actually will never freeze solid. You could start training your son to eventually take over when you get to old Merrell ! Thanks again
Awesome video as usual buddy. Excellent aaaaaaaaaaa
Hello Mr. Merrill and Hello fun club!!!!
nice one mell, but what is the advances of owning both the puck and the box
That’s a great question. The lighter configuration and the wireless capability. If you’re going to use the remote, you can also pair it with XP WSA II.
GO GO GO!!
wow was actually finally impressed with the rap🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
It takes a special person! :)
Isn’t that triangle an Indian kettle point? Plus that ‘gear’ is definitely a parasol slide. I love your videos!
Hit the beaches they got destroyed here in RI lots I mean lots of sand was moved 3-4’
Are you sure "the triangle" isn't a kettle point? Check with Stef digs on that.
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
I tried detecting in the snow for the first time. That wasn’t as much as a problem as the ground being frozen too hard to dig. I figured I’ll wait until it thaws. Not worth the effort here in Oregon. I’m jonesing though so detecting vids will have to do for now. Cheers buddy.
The deus 11 ws6 master is the equivalent of $1016 here in the uk!
When you want to "Rage-Quit", Take a break and clear your head, Even take a nap and reset your thought pattern. Stop putting pressure on yourself to perform. Stop and enjoy the view of the beach and you will get past this. CHOW!
Agreed! But this rage quit was about my camera.
You should be out on Ron kon coma lake looking for the remains of skeleton man
Still good finds brrrrr❤
I'm done with GoPro. DJI Action 4. Works under all kind of harsh conditions.
I run ws6master great machine. Thank for rap thanks for nice hunt..freezing in ohio.
I thought one of the last places to freeze over was Hell.....😊
Parasol slide. not a gear, nice old find.
I got a GoPro. Every year I try to use it again...or find a use for it and get angry again. It may actually be impossible to use...even for taking pictures of a tomato plant. A 20 dollar camera would be an improvement.
Hey I think that 88 gear is actually part of a parasol. But my question is can you change the order of programs in your deus? You made it sound like you can put a custom program next to deep high conductor. Can you show how that works please?
Parasol slide not gear
Thank you!
Shout out to the Equinox 800. 🙂.
I stick the control in my pocket and never look at it.. I run everything wide open ... just go by sound... No discrim.. full tones
I have heard all kinds of annoying things about GoPro, the batteries Don't last long and are expensive.
Yep! But there really aren’t alternatives out there.
I Love your production rap music, Do a favo Merrill please, post that rap music so we can share it. it's so cool congrats bro you doing great!
Merrill, that is not a gear, it is a parasol slide.
Missing the legend YET!?
hello Sir can you give an advice which detector should be used when looking for gold inside the rock, a rock containing gold
You should pick up the 13 inch coil
Got it! Will use it very soon!
It is heavier but you will cover a lot more ground with it I wish I never bought the 9 I use the 13 so much. lol
I actually had it in my backpack the whole time during this hunt@@Odessycoins !
@@MetalDetectingNYC I keep the 11 and the 9 in my backpack which is just a regular school bag I look like Boba Fett with the rods sticking out the top of my bag lol
So the New Yorkers have a couple screws loose out there on the island.
It wasn’t a screw, it was a parasol.
@@MetalDetectingNYC to muddy and cold for me
