- Welcome back to the Metal Detecting NYC channel. In this vlog I go mudlarking on a New-York city beach, and I chose a good day. There are some epic finds: gold, silver, coins, but the historical ones are my favorite. From coins to relics, you never know what you'll find on the shores of NYC. Even though metal detecting or mudlarking can be exhausting, especially in the winter, it's worth it to just keep going on those days. The pendant you found is a St. Christopher medal. He is the patron saint of travellers.
I had a bizarre dream a few nights ago that I was visiting Adele and her extended family who, in my dream, lived in shipping containers on the shore of the northern part of San Francisco Bay. I tried to leave but somehow couldn't get away. Upon reflection, I think I was watching too many mudlarking videos.

@@MetalDetectingNYC, with your good eyes finding all the stuff you do on that beach, you'd have no problems finding arrow heads and other points in creeks and rivers.

It is a St. Christopher medal, the saint for those who travel.
23:30 St Christopher medal patron Saint of travel hence the plane and car 1930s,some were made of rose gold and silver worth a look.
We love those old hobble skirt coke bottles, they are easy to date, should be a 4 digit number embossed on the side and the 3d and 4th numbers are your year. Great job leaving those nice bottles for the bottle collectors, we love those! Fun to see you mud larking, great video!

The gold item is what is referred to as gold filled. It would be hallmarked in percentages such as 1/20 g.f. or 1/10 g.f. etc. So 1/10 g.f. would mean the total weight of that item ( before wear) would be 10% gold. It is much heavier than plating which is why you were able to hold the "plating" with your fingers. Thanks for another fun video!

The writing on your religous medal at 23:42 looks like it reads "??? my lord". at the bottom.
Written on top..”Saint Christopher” bottom “Be My Guide” back reads “on Land-on sea in the air hold us safe”. Interesting piece.
23:22 is a Saint Christopher medallion. The top says "Saint Christopher" and the bottom says "Be My Guide".
29:49 war of 1812 Rifleman's "bugle crossed cannons insignia for artillery has been in continuous use since 1834. awesome relic finds for sure you nailed it buddy!

It's not War of 1812, it's a US Army coastal artillery insignia. Such as was stationed at Fort Hamilton, Fort Wadsworth and such. In use up to WW2.

It reminds me of the reverse of the libertad, with the bird and cacti, oerhaps its a mexian con, the 1000 peso coin from the 80s has the same recerse as the libertad, with the bird and cacti
The only way to win is take home everything. Bring a wheelbarrow and load up on scrap metal etc. Epic Mexico pin.

That pocket watch is "gold overlayed", not technically plated. That is why it came off in a solid layer and didn't peel off like a film.
Maybe that thing with the sword on it was a Shriners thing

Mudlarkers everywhere should feel a reponsibility to carry bags for plastic or lead removal whenever possible. Tom Burleigh in Britain is the model for mudlarking with a sense of personal commitment to the environment. He does what he can in exchange for the pleasure of the experience.
Merril- The military pin is crossed cannons with a shell in the middle. Not sure the time period. An artillery unit would probably have this as a pin- most likely Army.

The large coin looked like it had a Mexican eagle on it.
23:19 is a Catholic St. Joseph medallion. Usually they are silver.

My father was an artillery commander in the Pacific under General Wainwright. I have his old pins, and I can tell you those are crossed cannon. I wasn’t raised an Army Brat; I don’t know the specific battalion, but that looks like a collar pin.

woooooo not 100% sure but at 22:41 it looks like you missed a table corkscrew from the late 1890 which are rare and highly collectible , even for a rusty one you can get good money at ebay cause they are very rare...greetings from bavaria
