My gripe has to be voice acting.
WHAT THE FUCK.
Gun Grave Overdose's VA was sharper and much more expressive WHEN THEY WERE JUST FACES ON A SCREEEN.
ZELL is THE BIGGEST DISSAPPOINTMENT IN MY EYES.
MIKA's FLAT TONE in Overdose still had more personality and her concern for Grave was sharper than ever.
HE HAD SO MUCH CHARACTER, SUCH FUN ACCENTS and he's reduced to a guy reading script like its nothing.
But that aside. Looks fun as hell.

I mean, aside from one of the VAs most of them usually only dub over live action material or are unknowns. It seems like they werent given the biggest budget or best direction for the voice acting.
Just play it in Japanese then. Of course the English dub is bad.
@@SnicketySlice Oh this is surprising. But it's a little sad because Overdose's voice acting had its own set of charms and personality albeit limited. But yeah i have to play it in japanese.

The game kind of feels like a throwback to the early 2000s, which the Gungrave series was born in; there's not really much change in how it plays compared to the first game and Overdose.
@@lewhanwen4302 If it was really a throwback to the first, it could have been done better in my opinion. By comparison, I do like some of the new mechanics they've thrown in (executions, grappling etc). I would argue though that the first game was more polished because of how tightly packed it was and what made it really stand out was its overall style. The cel shading made you feel like you were playing an anime, and the music was much more engaging. Also, the first game didn't make you go through any unnecessary (and frankly frustrating) platforming, nor were the enemies so numerous that they ended up making the environment a hazard to you. You were a literal walking tank and every shot coming out of your gun had weight to it.
I love it how they talk about the characters like they're Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader...
Well, ever since I watched the trailer, I thought that the game would be very serious and sad, but this is not quite what I expected. I mean it could have been better but maybe they were more interested in making a game but not a solid story.

Looks ok graphically but some frames I'm seeing are really janky and the facial expressions on mika look... dated. It's almost like the cutscenes were from an older graphical engine and they just copy pasted it. Still the fact the game came out at all might just be crazy luck.

Agreed, even tho the anime... lol, well, might have went off the rails a bit, even tho Ultimate was true to the manga. I remember loving it as a kid, but as an adult, well, id choose game over any new material if I was forced. Alucard is kinda cringe anyway, compared to D. I just had an epiphany. This will never happened but damn, I would LOVE to see an open world (via Elden Ring's aesthetics only WITH AN ACTUAL STORY, lol), set in the far future wastelands of the Vampire Hunter D. Playing him as the protag, obviously. The boss fights fit FROM's style so perfectly, as well.

I am still curious what became of Rocketbilly and Jyuji after events of Overdose. Guess the developers either forgot them or they went their separate ways sometimes after Overdose.
I hope both RB and Jyuji are gonna be in DLC.

This, by far, had the most _lukewarm_ opening I've ever witnessed.
And I thought _No More Heroes_ had a iffy intro. Granted the story, jokes and gameplay made up for it. Even _Killer is Dead_ was a bit rough, but _This_ ?
Released in Wii Era, it probably would've been a solid 8.5.

I don't know about that. The first gungrave was a lot more polished. Really short, but really solid in execution. This game is a janky mess that got a lot better with the patch. But still needs more changes to make it easier to recommend.
Like I would love a patch just to make everything in the stats page of the lab unlocked. Cause that whole page is terrible bloat. Especially the lock on distance upgrade. Have no idea what they were thinking with that one. And without prior knowledge to first above all make the bullet damage level 3, the game would be a lot more BS when you get to the Vietnam levels.
Also better sounds and hit feedback. Enemies would just stay in place when getting his with explosives. While some sounds are either poorly mixed or won't play at all. Like if you watch the cutscene where they all shoot the final boss, the whole scene feels so limp cause of terrible sound design. There's absolutely no way a coat ruffling is louder than a gun.
Like I said, future patches are needed. Even if the team has a very small budget

Also my advice to anyone playing shield gun damage and health are the only things u need to win also some demolition points do not buy time stop thing tho it’s useless and gets no health. Not that you’ll
Even have enough points this game barely gives u enough for an upgrade so grind the easiest levels if u need to upgrade before u go to farther chapters or they will be a nightmare unless ur on easy even still it is very unrewarding either way so idk what they think this game is even enjoyable enough to grind out but if u beat the game regularly u won’t be anywhere close to Upgrades

And the best fan fiction of the gungrave series i would come up with would be juji kabane vs yensen the boostmaster the clash between 2 swordsman a very badass battle and one of my favorite imagination for fan fiction

The game acting is weird because this is some actors first and only role that’s hardly the problem tho the gameplay is so boring and repetitive the jump is stumpy and they try to make u platform sometimes and u can fall and die easily without even knowing sometimes or have to get somewhere or u die right away no matter what. U need to upgrade to even stand a chance but u can barely upgrade if u play every level u will not be nearly fully upgraded so u have to grind on some levels I guess the first ones would be the easiest and fastest but the gameplay is so rough it’s not even fun I quit cause I was just bored with it and switched to easy so I don’t care only fun thing about this game are the boss fights but they die so easily since I’m on easy cause I didn’t care about even trying on this game so I’m just gonna watch the rest. I wish darktide actually was on Xbox I would be playing that but I can’t and it won’t even work on pc at all it crashes constanlty and my computer can’t even handle it idk why it handles other games fine. I ran halo and all and those are big games but this looks so bad so I have to wait idk how to fix it or if I can
