This is SOOOO helpful! I am encountering a hot issue in my betta only tank...and all information I found on the internet really worries me...but actually there is no need. Cheers!
You have a new subscriber!! I like how calm you are and how you don't tell ppl what they are doing wrong.. Instead you make suggestions and why you suggest it... I have my temp set at 80.0 - 80.5F (winter I live in Michigan) summer time on really hot day I will turn it down to 79-79.5F I have noticed when he's too cold he sleeps closer to the heater (btw I keep a guard on the heater so he won't get burnt) and when he's at perfect temp he's in the middle laying on his favorite rock... But if he's hot he will stay up to the top of the surface.. Now I know why because less oxygen.. And maybe to cool down... I never just go in a change the temp to a crazy number.. I don't want him stressed.. So if it's cleaning day I take him out put him in another tank... I always check the tap water when putting it in I make sure it's, around 80.F .. I woke up one morning and it was cold out.. His heater went haywire in the middle of the night.. So I had to put a new heater in but I made sure I gradually put it back to his normal temps.. I thought I killed him cause he wasn't moving.. He was right up next to the heater and not moving.. I felt so bad.. My very first betta I had no clue what I was doing.. Back then there was no internet.. And you had to go to the library for information.. Lol.. That poor betta lived in a bowl (less than a gallon) no heater, no filter, Sharpe objects, my bowl wasn't cycled.. No live plants.. And colorful gravel... Can I say that betta lived 5 years... Also I only put conditioner in his water when changing it.. Which I did 3 times a week.. Where were the betta police .. Lol
Heat rises,, so no your betta was not near the surface because he was too hot, as the surface is the hottest part of the tank 😂 thats like 10yr old science levels.. he probably had low oxygen if he was gulping air at the surface.
Having a lid is a must with Bettas as they do jump. My Betta once jumped out of the tank and my friend found it on the carpet, Thankfully it survived. Lesson learnt always have a lid.
Keep my betta in a tub outside with 8 WCMM in southern Texas. The temperature goes up to high 90s for a while. I keep the tub under a semi shaded pergola, gets early morning sun but that’s it. The color on the beta from being kept outside is brilliant.
I keep my heater at one end of the tank, close to the bottom...on the other end I have a bunch of plants to break up current and for my betta boi to sleep on. He can choose current or no current, 75 deg to 82. He loves sleeping on top the heater though. Love u Finn McCool.
Thanks for the information! Some betta keepers just confused me haha 😅, I set my betta tank at 28°C and some betta keeper said that I need to decrease it because they said above 26.5°C the betta fish will only survive and not happy with my water temperature. I'm glad to watch this video because I found out that my temperature is actually perfect for my betta fish.
Hello, can you please help me out? I have small aquarium, 30x20x15 cm... and I actually don't have heater at this time, I'll get one at Christmas... I live in Czech Republic and I check the temperature, it's all the time about 23°C and I don't actually know how to heat that up... I have male and female, they were fighting and I solved that situation, I put glass from pitrue frame between them and they are fine, when I have time to check them out, I get it out to just have "fun" with each other and don't feel some kind of alone and stressful, because they can't understand why they can't go to other side of the tank bc of invisible wall, they are actually quite friends... But I see some problems, male's fins are just kind of breaking, but he's really playful, he likes to have fun with me, I'm teaching him some tricks too! Do you think they are going to be fine? Like I said, I'll get one heater on Chrismas, do you have some simple tricks to tell me how to heat the water up?
@@Nexerex_q probably fin rot and the cause is vary. I also have small tank, only about 4 gallons, so the water quality is easily go bad. If the water is the problem, use filter and do routine water change. The temperature may be the cause as well. What I suspect the most is they'll got stressed because you put two bettas together, even though they're separated with piece of glass, it won't helps, especially when they're not mating.
@@Nexerex_q you can use incandescent light bulb to heat up the water from outside the tank, because you use small tank this actually enough, but keep watching the temperature because temperature of small tank changes quickly
I got to bettas a couple of months ago....one I put in a cold water tank and the other in a tropical tank at 78 degrees....that one is dead and gone the same as every betta I ever put in that tank...the one in the cold water is as happy as larry
There’s so much conflicting out there, if my tank goes up above about 78 or 80 my guy gets all agitated, he’s happier when he’s a bit cooler, he’s calm swims happily. Many people watch one video or read the 1st thing on a search and stick with it
My Betta is laying on the bottom or on his hammock alot! Last time he did this he had fin rot. I treated it, his fins came back in beautifully and he had energy again. He is becoming lethargic again but his color and fins are normal. His tank is exactly 82° I was hoping that maybe his tank was too warm and I would have a place to start. But here I'm hearing that it is a golden number. So I'm back to the drawing board 🥺
I stopped using heaters years ago and the immune system, health and life span of my bettas got so much better, stronger and longer! Heaters shorten bettas life span and oh boy, the sicknesses are common in hot water. I didn't have any sickness in fish community in my fish room since I stopped using heaters. Spring and summer are the best times to make your fish get used to colder water and just to continue after that not to use it at Fall and Winter.
Its summer in my area and my tank is 31-35c. With this temperature, my betta is always resting and i dont know if thats a good thing. Ive been trying to cool the tank with ice bottles. The change is slow so im not too worried.
My fighting fish tank gone up to 86. I freck out as my first day of having a heater for my fighting fish. And I rip the heater out of t he e wall. Thinking of putting a fan near by it on low to try and put it down a bit
The information on air temperature was very helpful. We live in Massachusetts so the tank is often hotter than the room air. Is it just me, or is it cool (pun intended) that the ideal temperature is a mirror image in Fahrenheit and Centigrade? 82 F = 28 C 😉 Happy Holidays, Jim
Hey Kasia! Część! Lovin' your videos! Just found you and just starting to watch. I had 2 betas prior to this 3rd one... and it's been a while but I never had to use heaters and what not for the 2.. but this one .. we can't keep the water temp above 77f at the top and 74f at bottom of a gallon tank.. we put a heater in there and it keeps it at 77f. My other 2c betas lived to be 4 and 5 years old without crazy maintenance... and this one is so different and acting sus all the time... we can't figure out what to do.
I completely agree! Even colder temperature is fine. I don't use heaters for years, at winter at night time temperature drops down to 65-67 and all my fish survive and stay strong and healthy and they live much much longer! I keep bettas, guppies, gouramies in room temperature water with no heaters for years and fish feel better than before! My bettas live at least 2-3 years. Opposite to 1 and a half years in general before (with heaters). I think it's a marketing to sell heaters to fishkeepers. Most of my fish feel better in colder water. I only had troubles with tetras so far, they are more fragile and sensitive to temperature.
I got muted on discord for telling a person and persons that having a 72-74 degree fish tank is not them "surviving" nor is it close to a comparison of us living in Antarctica. So I left the group 😂🤣They were the one's who force the topic of idea in the first place. They acting like 3-4 degrees is like Antarctica when I'm telling them it's like living in Texas vs Kansas. It's only a few degrees different not a whole continent.
The lowest I would feel comfortable letting my bettas get would be 76F because temp affects their metabolism drastically. I need to compile more research, but I do plan on making a video about lower temps for bettas in the future ^_^
Hello! It is great to see this informative video! I keep my bettas in a ten gallon tank with the otocinclus catfish and snails in a 78 degrees. At times I notice the glass of my fish tanks show some condensation. What causes this?
Are you referring to the inside part of the tank that's above the water or the outside part of the glass? When I have lids on tanks I get condensation from the evaporation of the water.
Right now I’ve been treating my Betta with Neoplex for a small white spot on his side with slightly lifted up scales. I’ve removed the charcoal filtration while I’m treating him but someone told me I should lower his temperature from 82° down to 75°, I was told the warmer water would make things worse for whatever his problem is which I was told is probably a bacterial infection? what do you think? Should I have his water temperature that low? Or should I keep it warmer? Do you think it matters if the water is warmer or cooler while he’s being treated? Thank you for any advice.
I have the PULACO PRESET 78...and the water is still "cool" to the touch...the thermometer doesn't even work (was I supposed to tape it INSIDE tank???). Any advice?? ty
@@CreativePetKeeping Hey! Im having this problem now!! my room is between 75/80 depends but my water is most time lows 70's and today is 68! What would you recomend because i can't afford to have one heater on each gallon jars!
83F to 88F. It will help your bettas digestion and prevent ich and several more disease. Hotter temp doesn't mean they will struggle to breath. South East Asia (Bettas native land) temp can get to 88 to above 90F most of the time. These info are subjective according to the experience of bettas keeper, and not concreate. As they get ship to the Western nations, bettas are breed here as well, so maybe the later bettas generations adapted to the lower temp in the mid 70F. So you may want to ask where you get your fish that if they got breed here where you live or got ship from South East Asia.
I agree with you 💯! I keep mine about 82°. If I'm conditioning them for spawning I bump it up to 84°-86° (I keep the spawns on the warmer side as well) Thank you for all the awesome info!
So your water feels like child bath water (meaning really warm) cause I'm afraid mine is too warm..at 81-82...I did read the warmer the water the less oxygen it has in the water which in terms means a shorter life span... That's what I read..that's why I'm now concerned... I clean his aquarium out 2x's a month ..I use bottled water and conditioner..I feed him omega seafood pellets (3 pellets 3x's a day..and a treat once a week..on the days I clean his tank I don't feed him on those days..cause Bettas can go 3 days without eating..and preferred for them to have one day where they fast ...I guess I feel bad of how he was treated so now I'm over doing it with him...(he was living in a cup seriously 36 oz cup) and he was a baby...I just don't want him thinking hell ever have to live like that again...the same day I got him...that same day I went out and got everything I needed... actually the first thing I did was put him in a new cup untill I got him home..I didn't mess with water untill I got him home..I did that kind of slowly...it was cold and dirty..sicko slowly added heat to his water that took about (3 days) for me to get his temperature to where it should be..I didn't want to shock him...1 drop of conditioner in..I bought fritz spectrum conditioner ... something like that..I really just want him to be happy..he seems happy..I try to stick to the same schedule everyday.. I know I'm babbling Sorry
Quick question I also have two bottom feeder snails is it the same exact temperatures the different temperature and I also have some live plants is it the same temperature is it not the same temperature
Nah I got a heater and my betta fish almost damn died! Now I’m here surfing the web trying to figure out what to do! Everything was fine until I got that dang heater
My heater says it ups the water temp by 6 degrees and I put 75 degree water in so it would be goo but will my heater keep it at this temp til the next water change or will it fluctuate depending on my house temp?
So I have a betta tank that’s 84 degrees the heater doesn’t go up or down should I get one that changes the temperature and I have another one that’s at 80 degrees is that a good temp for my betta? Then I have 2 more that’s on 82 which I said was perfect
My Betta fish seems happy and all that..but today I felt his aquarium and it literally felt like very warm bath water for a child... I do have 2 thermometers in his aquarium they both read the same.81°....maybe a point off..he's eating fine and he comes up every time I go to his tank.. I know I shouldn't do this but I did..I put 2 ice cubs in his water and he stayed under the ice cube because of that I turned his heat off for a bit and will let it cool down some..before turning his heater back on...he's acting normal and all that I'm just concern because it feels warmer than it should..I worry only because it wasn't the most expensive heater..I got it on Amazon for 12.00 there's not even an on or off button...I just don't want to hurt him or kill him My last Betta..I had a long long time ago.. before the internet was so available..and I did everything wrong...however he lived 5 years...instead of having a proper aquarium I used a 1 gallon fish bowl with sharp it's..and plastic plants..I did have the right food and I would give him chicken once in awhile...small small pieces...i also did have water conditioner but now I know I used way too much..i didn't think a few extra drops would actually hurt....he didn't have a heater and my cat drank out of his bowl all the time... I don't need hate comments..I know I did wrong..but there was no internet like there is now...and he lived 5 years.. This time I am trying to do everything right..and I'm so afraid I'm going to kill him...what is the absolute highest temp can he live in if it did over heat and I caught it after it got really warm...I try to check his home about 3-5 times a day... And if it is warm I'll put ice water or reg bottle water in...
Now how would you heat up multiple tanks without using tons & tons of heaters but like o said wished I had a fish room one would be awesome to have but would floating plants help to cool the water down as well
I heat the entire room to about 80F. This is why I keep all my tanks in one room only. In the winter, I put heaters in the lower tanks to help maintain a stable temperature. I think floating plants would help with outdoor ponds maybe..to block out the sun..but to be honest I'm not sure 🤔
If anything I think the floating plants would help keep the temperature more consistent, whatever it is. I don't think it would help heat or cool the water in any way, just create a barrier to hold the current temp in better... maybe lol? I agree it would help block the sun in an outdoor pond and that would again just be helping the water stay more consistent by blocking sunlight.
I'm watching this because. I just bought a brand new aquarium heater and I almost boiled alive my beta fish.😰 It's my first time using this. I always use lights. I switch because it's getting to cold at night Edit:I don't know what just I bought I don't know why my glass aquarium heater has a Soup mode I bought this at a pet shop it has no brand and it's made in China and you can turn the knob at the maximum.

Wish you would talk about the low temp scenario
I will in a future video but need to do more research first ^_^
Quick question I also have two bottom feeder snails is it the same exact temperatures the different temperature and I also have some live plants is it the same temperature is it not the same temperature
Nah I got a heater and my betta fish almost damn died! Now I’m here surfing the web trying to figure out what to do! Everything was fine until I got that dang heater
It sux there’s so much conflicting information out there.
My fish tank when from 78 - 76 just because it’s getting colder water n Florida . what should I do ?
My heater says it ups the water temp by 6 degrees and I put 75 degree water in so it would be goo but will my heater keep it at this temp til the next water change or will it fluctuate depending on my house temp?
How long can a betta survive out of water? Mine jumped out he was probably like 3-5 minutes out of it
I just switched heaters and it went from 76 to 82 degrees overnight, is this considered a big jump and will my Betta be ok?
So I have a betta tank that’s 84 degrees the heater doesn’t go up or down should I get one that changes the temperature and I have another one that’s at 80 degrees is that a good temp for my betta? Then I have 2 more that’s on 82 which I said was perfect
My Betta fish seems happy and all that..but today I felt his aquarium and it literally felt like very warm bath water for a child... I do have 2 thermometers in his aquarium they both read the same.81°....maybe a point off..he's eating fine and he comes up every time I go to his tank.. I know I shouldn't do this but I did..I put 2 ice cubs in his water and he stayed under the ice cube because of that I turned his heat off for a bit and will let it cool down some..before turning his heater back on...he's acting normal and all that I'm just concern because it feels warmer than it should..I worry only because it wasn't the most expensive heater..I got it on Amazon for 12.00 there's not even an on or off button...I just don't want to hurt him or kill him
My last Betta..I had a long long time ago.. before the internet was so available..and I did everything wrong...however he lived 5 years...instead of having a proper aquarium I used a 1 gallon fish bowl with sharp it's..and plastic plants..I did have the right food and I would give him chicken once in awhile...small small pieces...i also did have water conditioner but now I know I used way too much..i didn't think a few extra drops would actually hurt....he didn't have a heater and my cat drank out of his bowl all the time...
I put a heater in my betta tank and I had the ammonia go up why...
Dose candles hurm betta fish
Hello
❤️💥💯
Heyy Kasia, my Betta tank is at a constant 77.4 degrees. What do you think of this temperature? I live in a cold country.
@@CreativePetKeeping ok thnx I wished the outlet or electricity didn't die everytime I plug something in the outlet though
Just checked all my tanks, 77, 78, 80.
Those are all good! I would go as far to say 77 is ok too. I will be talking about cooler temperatures in a future video ^_^
My betta is happy at 77-78 he gets agitated if it’s warmer

😘❤️
Damn to late watching this video dumped a whole jug of cold water in my tank
😊💙
👋 👋 💏
I'm watching this because. I just bought a brand new aquarium heater and I almost boiled alive my beta fish.😰 It's my first time using this. I always use lights. I switch because it's getting to cold at night
Edit:I don't know what just I bought I don't know why my glass aquarium heater has a Soup mode I bought this at a pet shop it has no brand and it's made in China and you can turn the knob at the maximum.
Thanks this is very helpful 😊 I used a thermometer to measure the temperature

Lovely video!^^
Very entertaining and I learn alot from these!^^ I watch videos like this all the time and I love coming to my phone to see a video from you because I get to learn and receive more knowledge before getting pets, and I really admire the betta fish! Thank you for making this video!
I'm so happy that you love my videos! Makes my day!
Girl I love them! Honestly makes my day to see your face!
So beautiful and yes I'm a girl too but honestly you are gorgeous!
And video perfect! Keep it up! I'm a beginner youtuber but I'm doing my best to upload but I have nothing to make a video about, I haven't posted in 3 months and I honestly don't know if I can keep my channel because I don't know what to post or what video to make I have only 1 fish his name is pastel and I love him very much he's a white guppy with yellow patch on his whole face, my other fish died off because of old age I believe, and I've been a fish keeper for a whole year now and yeah. Seeing these videos makes me think about my dead fish and think how could i have saved them? Sometimes I think it's my fault.
Thank you so much for making this video. Doing research because I might get a betta soon. ☺️🪴
Its so awesome that you are doing research FIRST and then getting a betta. 💙🐟
Great info and video.
