I have the exact same heater for my betta tank! I initially bought a preset heater and almost cooked my fish! It didn't turn off when the tank reached the preset range! After alot of research online I found the hygger heaters on Amazon. It only cost $15 and works perfectly in my 10 gallon planted tank. I love that you can adjust the temperature without taking the actual heater out and that it gives a clear digital reading of the temperature at all times. Betta is happy, plants are happy and shrimp (also in tank) are happy. Absolutely best heater I've used!
I’m new to this hobby but I experiment between my - now - six tanks (from only one last September 🤦♀️) with different equipment for each tank. This is DEFINITELY my favorite heater. I keep it in my betta’s tank because of its ease, its reliability, and its easy-to-see display. I’ve been worried a bit about my 50w so I watch it carefully and I turn off its power when I do water changes. Yesterday, our power went out for a bit because of a blizzard and I put in a probe thermometer into my betta’s tank to monitor the temp. Once the power came back on, the probe and the Hygger heater have had the same readings for the past day. I really love this heater too!

Taylor, I ordered the 100W Hyggers like your 50W ones. I love them, and the aesthetics are great. It makes my tanks look bigger because the heaters are easier to hide, although I don't mind showing them off. Thank you for the heads up on them.
I am from India so during most of the time of the year I dont need the heater but during winter I do have to use it as it gets below 15℃ easily. I hope I keep my betta (I named him Nilu) happy😊. Thank you so much for this informative video.
I had a very small heater that was a preset one in my 2 1/2 g tank, went to do a water change and the water was 🔥. It was 90, I had 2 mystery snails and 1 nerite that I quickly took out. They all survived. The community tank is the only one now that I have a adjustable heater, it's a 10 gallon. I may want to upgrade it. Thanks for the video 🙂
Oh man, I'm glad the inhabitants were alright! Malfunctioning heater thoughts make me nervous, it's why I tend to choose lower powered heaters for the water volume I'm heating. Heating a 20g? Use a heater meant for a 10g! Haha works fine for me
Even in a warm state like Texas you get the occasional freeze out. A week with out power took my betta to the brink of death. When the power started coming on only about 2hrs a day I wrapped his tank with a blanket. He survived the freeze but not the effects of it. He developed dropsy and was gone the morning of March 8th, my 23yr old was devastated. We had gotten Betta Blue just before the pandemic outbreak. He was a blue crowntail. Last week I took him to some local pet stores and we rescued a red veiltail male and blue veiltail female that was on last Monday and by Friday we had baby fry. He's so excited now I even got him a couple of new tanks. I even rescued a pair of blue crowntail for my self. I named them Betta Max & VHS then had to explain to 13 why that was so funny to me. Sorry for the long winded reply. Thank you for your videos we both enjoy them.
Well if it is too cold there, come to the sunshine state, our winter last from 12 hours to a week below 60's. The remaining months are 70-100. With the ocasional hurricane that pops out of nowhere between May and November.

Hey Taylor, I am re watching some of your older videos because UA-cam has changed your status in my feed. If I watch a few of your shows in a row then maybe? Possibly, perhaps? I have changed my need for heat in my tanks. I use the same digital thermometer for all my tanks. So Kerry, Carries, Kerry's thermometer in his shirt pocket. I am between Bettas right now but I want to set up a nice home for a good quality Betta. My tank temps run 76F with no heat. I set my heater to pick up to 77F I see SICCE has their new ones set at 77F. Hygger is no longer the only heater with a low level shut off and as far as I am concerned all heaters should have that feature. I will not put a glass tube in my aquariums any longer, I have been shocked and lost fish so no thanks. Many heaters now come with a metal tube and a "Inkbird," style safety switch for the price of the Inkbird itself. So many changes! Anyway I hope your videos start showing up. Judy and I send our best to your children and the rest of you of course. Take care Taylor
Hi Kerry, thank so much for watching some old videos! I've ruined so many heaters. I don't think I've lost any fish due to malfunctions, but I know it could easily happen. I really like the newer heaters with the plastic housing instead of glass! I don't think I've used metal ones, not yet at last. Thanks Kerry, I send my best to you and Judy!
I was born up in the Australian Alps... you read that right... the Australian Alps... we do have mountains with snow here. But, currently I live in Western Australia on the southwest tourist coast. I've lived in and visited cold countries before now. I've been in -25c temps a few times (I prefer the +35c temps TBF). Today though, the temp here is low 20's celsius and my plans for the afternoon... is to make an apisto breeding tank for a single male and 2 females. I have rocks, sand, and a bunch wood (not sticks... proper wood) that I am going to use to create a semi-divided tank with caves at either end and I need to get a bunch of plants... and I need to clean the tank of all the calcium deposits from the water... so... vinegar and water and a razorblade... or two. Or it might happen tomorrow... who knows when you're dealing with someone with anxiety and depression who has issues concentrating these days :(
@@SimplyBetta I have 10 babies right now... hopefully with the new setup, I'll be able to breed a fair few more and make a bit of moola for my efforts... which of course I will probably end up spending back on my fish :D
Even living in a nice 'tropical' place (South Australia) and not a freezing hellhole LOL I still have to use heaters in my tanks. The air conditioner in Summer drops the ambient room temperature to whatever we prefer, not enough to keep the tanks warm. When it's 42C outside.....That looks to be a good heater, I will investigate suppliers here thanks for the review :)
I also use a Hygger (my favorite brand, I've never had one break in my years of fish keeping), super affordable and good quality - though I do use the glass tube ones..they also have an auto-shut off.
I do live in a really nice tropical place, it's south India, in winters, it's a no go without heaters. Love this video Taylor, thanks for reccomending this heater, definitely will try out. 😊👍
This whole video is me. 😂 The pile of crappy heaters, and the love of the Hygger ones! I’m so stoked about the coupon because I was going to buy four more heaters yesterday and didn’t get around to it! Then, I saw this. W00t!
Love this! I’ll definitely be looking into these heaters. I use the same glass ones you mentioned, they’re good but I never like dipping my hand into the fish water to adjust the temps all the time. I live in Melbourne, Australia and our temperature is always fluctuating, so being able to easily adjust it like that would be so good!
Heaters are a must here in Canada and my house sits at 68F during the day and 64F at night. It looks like a neat little heater and I will give it a shot the next time I need one. I currently have an aqueon heater in my Spec V. My Betta is toasty and warm in his 80F home. You have a lot of snow but Spring is next weekend so here's hoping for warmer days soon. Fun Video.
I love your crying betta photo! I have trouble with 'old' (older than 2 year-heaven forbid something actually last anymore ~goes down hour long rant~) what was I saying? oh yes older heaters fail and 'cooked' my fish at 93F+ so I now use temp controllers on all the tanks so heaters can't get stuck on and has an alarm is it breaks and gets too hot/cold.
I've been looking for an alternative. Thanks for the information! We just got a ton of snow in colorado 😳 the struggle is real! 20+ tanks but I do have gorgeous Ranchu 😍💕
When I cannot figure out how to pronounce a company , I call them and see how they answer phone. ACERBIS hand guards , YOSHIMURA exhaust to name a few.
I'm watching right now, but hopefully you would talk about getting a "rogue voltage" and getting "phantom whiplash" on your arms when its going in the tank water.
Hey Taylor! ❤ Sadly the frogbit sold out, I found some more around where I live so its ok. I will be ordering some grindal worms VERY soon, gonna try feeding them to my new discus, thank you for all you do 😊🖒❤
Thank you for this information, I had looked at those heaters before, but went with what I know. I have two Eheim's and two other tube heaters, but I hate trying to get an accurate temp with them, and I hate having to get my hands wet every time I need to adjust a temperature. I have ordered four of the Hyggers. What a relief to be able to change a setting without risking contamination in my tanks.
I had been considering using a space heater in my room, to keep my Bettas warm. I will check out those Hygger heaters, instead. Thanks for sharing. Stay warm Tailor. It's cold out there ❄️❄️❄️❄️
Well I heated my whole fish room with a single space heater plugged into a thermostat! And a small fan to circulate the air. it worked nicely for my jarred fish ; )
It’s people like you and videos like this that confirm my best life decision to join and explore the betta hobby. Thank you so much! Oh and thanks for making me love goldfish now haha!
I usually hit the Like after I watch, but had to hit it immediately when the fake infomercial started. That was a riot! Thanks for the tips! I would have never thought that my room temp water was that much cooler. Both times I left my betta heater unplugged accidentally for a few hours my lovelies developed fin rot 😢 Warm temps a must!
Just ordered a Hygger!!! Got that coupon!!! Gonna drop it in my 6 gallon Fluval Edge tank with Jeff the Betta. My basement office is a little colder here in Nebraska and I think Jeff would like the bump. The 25w heater in there isn't really cutting it. Thanks for the suggestion and great content.
I use one of Hygger's siphon hoses. It works so good. I like it better than Python. I'm sure their heaters are pretty amazing. I may get one with my next tank set up.
I'm setting up my first betta tanks and your videos have been so helpful. Now I now what heater to get for my tank! Thank you 💖 and I hope you do more equipment videos like this, when you can.
Woooohoooo more betta content! So not a sell out, love ❤️ that you like that heater cause now I’m glad I ordered one... right before seeing this coupon ugh- and nope I like in New England sooo freezing wasteland then hot muggy mosquito heaven- just never know-- hoping to snag a pair of your bettas when the weather won’t kill the poor things!
Oh... Interesting! I bought one with the coupon to try it. Thanks for the video! And I still remember the sound of my forgotten glass heater out of the water....a scary SSSSssssPOK.
So crazy I just bought one for my QT tank and I thought it to be pretty convenient too and so far the temp has been pretty accurate. I still use another thermometer, but so far so good with the hygger.
@@SimplyBetta the first 10 watt quiet high output hygger I bought was in April 2019 and still running as quiet as ever! Have added to them since then with same quiet results!
I live in Mesa, AZ it gets wicked hot during the summer but nice all other times, however I would like to live in Montana or Wyoming but the job market isn't that good.
Thanks, Taylor! I’ve been wanting a heater with an adjustable temperature setting. I don’t have a Betta right now, I have Chili (Phoenix) Raspboras, Amano Shrimp and Assassin Snails. The water seems to stay a tiny bit warmer than I think would be best. I ordered the heater. The automatic shut off is perfect for me! ;-)
I got that heater as well and I really like it. Your videos are always top notch and inevitability make me laugh out loud. Greetings from the Sunshine state 🌴🐬🏖
ima add another name to the list of possibilities... Hugger. Hygger like some people pronounce hyundai also i live in straya... still need heaters because today it decided to be 21c which is practically winter 70f... (the temp does hit -4c but its usually only first thing in the morning winters usually 10c (50f) ish give or take)

I have a well insulated soundproof bedroom, and if I don't have the forced ventilation turned on, it gets around 80 degrees. I've decided to just stick with that and forget about the ventilation after I got into the aquarium hobby. That, and I'm in southern Missouri, and it gets ridiculously hot and humid in the summer around here these days, so I figure getting used to higher temps and humidity might help me personally when I'm working outside in summer. I don't have heaters, but the all the tanks have pumps which put off heat and keep them in the upper 70s.
I have that exact hygger heater but its so big and bulky that it doesnt really fit well in my 5.5 gallon. I do however have the 10-20 gallon glass heater from the same company in my 10 gallon and its great!
Holy crap! That looks amazing, i never knew heaters like that existed! I would totally get one but being in canada, i can't use paypal for amazon and my boyfriend won't let me use his credit card because he's weird about internet purchases lmfao. even tho i live in canada, its not nearly as cold where i live as it is there, if we get any snow ever, its like, max 1" and it lasts maybe a day, more than that is really uncommon these days. x"D
I'm a little jealous! You in BC or something? I used to live there and it was flippin'' awesome. Sorry I didn't reply to your email yet, it's been like a week since I opened my email and now I have a mountainnn
@@SimplyBetta yeah i'm over on Vancouver island, lots of nature around where i live. i'd hate to have tons of snow all the time, but like, once in a while would be nice?? we got snow for a day a month or so ago, and the flakes were MASSIVE. literally 2 inches minimum. my boyfriend absolutely hates the snow, so of course he was a party pooper the whole drive haha. i think winter of 2019 we had around 2 feet of snow, and i literally didn't leave my house once. only opened the door to let my dog out and she went nuts xD but other than that, we haven't had a good amount of snow in years. And no worries my dude, i kinda figured it was because you were busy, no biggy. i get overwhelmed super easily so i understand lol, take your time :)
*laughs in far north queensland, australia* I had to have my aircon running to keep the room 28c during summer the room will easily reach 31c + unless I'm blessed with a rainy day
Thanks for the info. Been struggling with water temps in a small tank. Have one on order. Tried to use your link, but it was almost a week later delivery time. Not sure I want to wait that long with the new betta the kids picked out.
goldfish are adorable. i have one that i won at a carnival years ago and its now HUGE lol i never expected a carnival fish to even live long but it has. it started in a 3 gallon tank cuz he was so tiny and now hes in a 60 gallon cuz hes huge. hes pink and eats alot so i call him piggy ☺ i got him a goldfish friend but she died after 4 years. piggys still going though. lovin his 60 gallons to himself 😆

I have rocks, sand, and a bunch wood (not sticks... proper wood) that I am going to use to create a semi-divided tank with caves at either end and I need to get a bunch of plants... and I need to clean the tank of all the calcium deposits from the water... so... vinegar and water and a razorblade... or two.
Or it might happen tomorrow... who knows when you're dealing with someone with anxiety and depression who has issues concentrating these days :(
Oooo best of luck with the apistos! ; ) That warm weather sounds heavenly right now
@@SimplyBetta I have 10 babies right now... hopefully with the new setup, I'll be able to breed a fair few more and make a bit of moola for my efforts... which of course I will probably end up spending back on my fish :D
Hah! Well that makes sense ; )
I also use a Hygger (my favorite brand, I've never had one break in my years of fish keeping), super affordable and good quality - though I do use the glass tube ones..they also have an auto-shut off.
I Love her ! She is so cute and funny! I’m from Pennsylvania.need a good heater for the winter 🥶
I just purchased one on your recommendation. It'll be here on Thursday March 18, 2021. Then it'll be time for a new Betta.
Right on! I hope it works nicely for you
@@SimplyBetta thanks! I'm sure we'll love it. I am tired of the glass ones that seem to go out so easily.
I do live in a really nice tropical place, it's south India, in winters, it's a no go without heaters.
Love this video Taylor, thanks for reccomending this heater, definitely will try out.
😊👍
LOVED this video! You are delightful and funny. Informative on Bettas :) Thank you!
Thank you ~ yup just what I was looking for.
This whole video is me. 😂 The pile of crappy heaters, and the love of the Hygger ones! I’m so stoked about the coupon because I was going to buy four more heaters yesterday and didn’t get around to it! Then, I saw this. W00t!
Haha right on!
It is pretty convenient!
Neat the one thing I don’t like about that heater it’s very bulky .... but the auto off is a plus
That makes sense, if you want something that is easier to hide then the tubes would be a better option ; )
Cool heaters. Love the snowy weather ☃️ much better than hot sunny conditions 🥵
In the cold I long for hot. In the hot I long for cold. I'm fickle 😂
Fun Video.
I have been looking for a good heather for my next project and I think this one is a winner! Thank you! (I'm too late for the coupon! :( )
Ranchu are my favorite! Ha ha I love Colorado, you can sure relate
When I cannot figure out how to pronounce a company , I call them and see how they answer phone. ACERBIS hand guards , YOSHIMURA exhaust to name a few.
Ooo that is a good idea
We will check out the heaters i have never heard of them. Thanks for the video, Have a great day!!!
Thanks, you too!
Ordered my hyger heater thank you for the recommendation
I hope it works well for you!
I live in Michigan so very helpful for the cold seasons coming thank you
Aww man, checking this email a bit too late and missed the time on the coupon, but thank you for the wonderful information!!!!
I'm watching right now, but hopefully you would talk about getting a "rogue voltage" and getting "phantom whiplash" on your arms when its going in the tank water.
Hey Taylor! ❤ Sadly the frogbit sold out, I found some more around where I live so its ok. I will be ordering some grindal worms VERY soon, gonna try feeding them to my new discus, thank you for all you do 😊🖒❤
Haha well if you do, I'll throw in a few frogbit nodes for you
Thumbnail looks like a press conference "hush, Mrs. Betta is about to start talking".
Thank goodness, another person who appreciates taking the easy route! I hope you like them!
oh my god. i just found your channel and I LOVE IT. now to binge watch betta videos 🥰🥰
@@SimplyBetta Thanks for sharing that. It's appreciated.
I appreciate that! 😂
Haha send my love to jeff!
Awesome!!!! I need to replace all of mine, too. Thanks, Taylor!
I use one of Hygger's siphon hoses. It works so good. I like it better than Python. I'm sure their heaters are pretty amazing. I may get one with my next tank set up.
Oh, I am so glad I checked your recommendations!!!! Thank you! Sorry the coupon code has expired, but, such is life. Right?
I'm setting up my first betta tanks and your videos have been so helpful. Now I now what heater to get for my tank! Thank you 💖 and I hope you do more equipment videos like this, when you can.
I'm happy this video was useful! ;P
Well I hope the heater works well for you!
SO timely!! THANK YOU!! I just got a new 12 gallon long and was wondering what heater I wanted in it!!! 15% off Cha-Ching!!!
Oh... Interesting! I bought one with the coupon to try it. Thanks for the video! And I still remember the sound of my forgotten glass heater out of the water....a scary SSSSssssPOK.
That's exactly the sound!
So crazy I just bought one for my QT tank and I thought it to be pretty convenient too and so far the temp has been pretty accurate. I still use another thermometer, but so far so good with the hygger.
Awesome!
I love the hygger water heaters! Also hygger makes super quiet air pumps too! I’ve got a few running in my bedroom and they are silent!
That's good to know! How lonh have you had them! A lot of my pumps start quiet then BOOM - noisy as heck.
@@SimplyBetta the first 10 watt quiet high output hygger I bought was in April 2019 and still running as quiet as ever! Have added to them since then with same quiet results!
*gasp* I might have to try one
I live in Mesa, AZ it gets wicked hot during the summer but nice all other times, however I would like to live in Montana or Wyoming but the job market isn't that good.
Here in Idaho heaters are necessary as well and I may have to cool during the summer because it can get over 100° and the ac doesn't help that much.
I hear you, though it isn't SO bad here in central ID ; )
My fav betta breeder 🥰 you got me into breeding koi bettas!
Yay! I fueled your addiction!
The automatic shut off is perfect for me! ;-)
I felt like such a whiny baby in the vid explaining why I like them so much, but the auto shut off is like the most glorious thing ; P
I got that heater as well and I really like it. Your videos are always top notch and inevitability make me laugh out loud. Greetings from the Sunshine state 🌴🐬🏖
Making people laugh makes it all worth it!
ima add another name to the list of possibilities... Hugger. Hygger like some people pronounce hyundai
also i live in straya... still need heaters because today it decided to be 21c which is practically winter 70f... (the temp does hit -4c but its usually only first thing in the morning winters usually 10c (50f) ish give or take)
Nice video and I’m from New Zealand but our weather is unpredictable
But I love the weather there
Simply Betta,... Simply 🤯!!! Literally mind blown!!! THANKS! Never knew of the Hygger!!!! Gonna switch over ASAP! Thanks for this! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Pssst....I want to shop Bettas from you! I know...See ya in the Spring for new listings. 👍❤️🤞
Important questions: Does "Simply Trout" suit me? Am I a terrible person for making an adorable betta cry? (3:20) Did you enjoy my CHEESY infomercial!? (6:10) Am I allowed to say "hellhole" on UA-cam?
Also, I'm not a sellout! (•̀o•́)ง (8:56)
The link and coupon code for the heaters are in my video description :)
Love your energy lol I got the hygger for the exact reason of not reaching in and ease of setting.
Then you have a pretty ideal space!
Ahhhh I love that you love goldfish so much!!!!
They're irresistibly cute like little water puppies
@@SimplyBetta exactly! That's why I have so many, they're so cute!!!
I have that exact hygger heater but its so big and bulky that it doesnt really fit well in my 5.5 gallon. I do however have the 10-20 gallon glass heater from the same company in my 10 gallon and its great!
Then that might be best! They are totally bulkier and harder to hide
I'm using the ehiem shatter proof with the external temperature adjustment knob.
As an Australian during summer around half the year I can get away with not having heaters as it's usually 30°C
18 degrees Celsius sounds like a beautiful temp for the day..
Thank you for being a UA-camr 😍
*laughs in far north queensland, australia*
I had to have my aircon running to keep the room 28c during summer the room will easily reach 31c + unless I'm blessed with a rainy day
I love this! I love their light systems too so this inspired me to try out the heaters now
Yay another new video from Taylor!!
I’m dying from the freezing cold hell hole comment!😂😂😂 Seriously though, another great video. Thanks, Taylor!
Lol, thank you
Thanks for the info. Been struggling with water temps in a small tank. Have one on order. Tried to use your link, but it was almost a week later delivery time. Not sure I want to wait that long with the new betta the kids picked out.
Thanks for all the videos recently!
Glad you like them!
goldfish are adorable. i have one that i won at a carnival years ago and its now HUGE lol i never expected a carnival fish to even live long but it has. it started in a 3 gallon tank cuz he was so tiny and now hes in a 60 gallon cuz hes huge. hes pink and eats alot so i call him piggy ☺ i got him a goldfish friend but she died after 4 years. piggys still going though. lovin his 60 gallons to himself 😆
Haha I love his name!
