- Sensitive sanguine study by brilliant montmartre portraitist Samuel, executed with a classical cross hatching technique, this is an example of place du tertre portraiture at its very best.
Daniel Arruda, superb musician from Brazil and friend provide sympa inspiration with vocals and guitar.

Sorry for comming to this video so late. After a 30 year lay off from my artistic pursuits i finally got back to portrait art 3 years ago. I draw every day for my personal enjoyment.
Samuel, you create a portrait like i can only hope one day i will be able to. I love your style. It is what i try to do. Thank you
Thank you Yvadmil, A wonderful lesson in non linear portraiture. I would love to see more of this mans drawings. A master at work! His lost edges on the far side of the face are perfect. That young lady must have been very pleased.
Love this video, music and portrait so good, watch over and over again. Thanks
Thank you, glad you like the video.I rate this artist as one of the best in Montmartre.
The song call "Insensatez", by A. Carlos Jobim.
Never too young or too old to learn.Merci pour votre commentaire positive
Thank you for sharing! Beautiful atmosphere and a phenomenal, classical style of work. Adding this to my Paris itinerary for next year, thanks to your video.
Look forward to seeing you! Samuel still works at the square and still draws amazing portraits.
Another great talent! So natural at the easel. Thanks for the share Davy!
Glad you enjoyed this.Great artist his style has evolved over the years.
Precioso!!
Bela obra!!!!
Love Samuel, he did my portrait 1 month ago. So happy about it :)
How much did he charge for a single portrait
Top demais 👏👏👏👏👏👏
The music and the artist really set the mood here. Maybe one day i will have enough, to take a trip to France and seek out place de tertre to both get a portrait done, and do a portrait or two. It would be my 2nd trip to France since my NATO tour back in 1989. We had stopped off in Cherbourg for 3 days
Robert Vega You would be most welcome. There are many really amazing portraitists for you to chose from. But the police have been incredibly tough this year..moving unauthorized artists ..confiscating their easels etc.Even authorized artists have been hassled. When the 'flics' have nothing better to do they go round the sq looking for anyone who has not the authorization card on display.
First song was absolutely beautiful
The music call "Insensatez", by A. Carlos Jobim.
Amazing❤
Sam is a top artist. His style has evolved over the years and he is much faster these days.
That's amazing
Wow this is art! Very profesional work!
Absolutely!
Great ! thank s Yvadmil!!!!
bravo indeed.
I love your videos Davy, I hope to see more of your own drawings soon!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your positive feed-back.I hope to find time this winter to share lots of interesting footage of all artists, including yours truly.
@@DavyLimvideos Thank you! I am still practicing realistic drawing using graphite it takes time and patience cause I don't want it to just look like a realistic drawing I want it to have some artistic feeling to it! My own touch if you know what I mean! I observe a lot of artists and I want to come up with something new, Every day I learn something new,
I love the way you draw.
Thanks
You have good taste. I had my portrait done by Samuel this past summer. He's amazing and takes it very seriously. Every portrait I saw him do was fabulous, which is why I had him do mine. The likeness was flawless, down to my windblown hair. Also had a portrait done by Majid Aghili, another great artist who's a friend of Samuel's. Majid's was very impressionistic, active, full color and captured my essence perfectly … in 45 minutes! Both artists are also very nice guys. I recommend both highly if you happen to be going to Place du Tertre. Take cash; there's only one ATM machine in the area, :)
YOU have good taste.Sam and Majid are incredible!
But they don't ask you to mortgage your house to pay for your portraits.
I would be amazed if they asked you more than 70 euros for first class work.
Wonderful video and beautiful artwork! Does anyone know if Samuel still does work in the square? And if so, what days? I’m headed there in April 2024 and would love to get a portrait done ❤
Fucking beautiful! Thank you for sharing this with us!
Hi Davy, I came across your youtube channel about 10 years ago when I was still in high school and it was such a huge inspiration as I decided to pursue a career in classical painting. The artist featured in this video is one of my favorites from your channel. I'm wondering what his full name is and where I could find more of his works. Many thanks for what you do!
Full name of this amazing artist is Samvel Hovhannisyan.I will pass on your message to him.Happy NewYear!

@twizzinav - I was very pleased indeed :)
Please forgive me asking this question but I am very much interested to know how much an artist must be earning per portrait... I want to think about it before making this as profession. Thanks for your reply!
If you want truly to make art your 'profession',I will give you some sound advice.Don't do it.It is not You that makes this choice. The love and the passion and the joy makes this choice for you;If it is your destiny, you will go there. If money is your goal ,there are easier ways of making it.The fact that you ask this question means one thing. You are NOT an artist.I have drawn for free ..I have painted and given away work for free...and for nearly 40 years I have been a free man. That is what you earn. You earn your liberty.
Davy Lim I understand but how can you judge that I am NOT an artist... you have not seen my work yet?? and I have to run household too... so I asked you as you are an expert... sorry but I find you bit rude
I regret being "rude"!!! The point I am trying to make is money is not what this is all about. If you have the passion for this profession it will become your profession. It is not easy to make a living drawing portraits on the street..but it is great fun.If you have a family to feed and a regular income is vital ,it could become stressful...there are days when artists come home with empty pockets.
Davy Lim 🤗🤗🤗👍
I am 61 years old . I am not sure what your four squares mean.I am very interested if you could translate your message! I admire you. If you are as strong as your words, you will go far.I wish to encourage everyone who wants to be an artist to reach out and make the dream a reality. Those who have been inspired by my little videos and have climbed ,just a little ,towards that summit have made this work worthwhile.Good luck to you!!

Brazilian music
I think it isn't so soft.
