It's also just mentally exhausting just looking at the stuff (just walking past it etc) even though we may not realize it consciously. That translates to being more physically tired again we don't always realise this until we get rid of that clutter then we feel so much more energy and wonder why haha. On a serious note the effects are quite insidious.
As a single parent, who's mastered the art of frugal living ( most of my wages goes on food and fuel); when I decided not to renew my Contents Insurance, my mindset changed to "I don't need this stuff". This helps with determining what's important and what's a liability. Great content, I'm enjoying your back-catalogue :)
That is inspiring, and a great way of thinking of it! Most of our money goes on food and fuel as well, and I think it's the most important things that we need. Thanks for commenting :)
I cancelled my contents insurance about 15 years ago. Most of my furniture is given to me or second hand. I don't own anything that's super expensive so I could probably replace all my contents easily with the money saved from nor insuring them. I have a few sentimental things, but insurance can't replace that anyway.
I absolutely LOVE your channel! I am an extreme minimalist at heart. However, being married, having 2 teenage girls and a big house, those make actually reaching that impossible. If only I found this lifestyle 20 years ago. Things would be different. I dream of implementing exactly as close to an extreme minimalist lifestyle once my kids are off and away. My husband is pretty minimal. Thank god! Leslie
Hi Leslie! What a lovely comment, thank you so much ❤️ I had sooo much stuff as a teenager so can definitively relate to having 2 (!) teenagers in a big house. Taking time is the best way to do it ⭐️
So lovely to hear how minimalism changed your life. I am so happy UA-cam recommended you to me! Your videos are brilliant and I love the B roll you are adding now, particularly where you have filmed it yourself. 🙏🙂
That's true about a lot of minimalist utube creators who actually encourage you to buy things; storage boxes, cleaning rags, etc. The irony. I'm curious about what you do with all of your extra free time now? I do spent a lot of time these days sorting, fixing, organising or moving on stuff (mostly from my parents since they passed away fairly recently). I have wondered what I'll do with my time once I finally finish sorting through all the stuff.
Yes isn't it! I sort of miss it haha! I actually try to help anyone who asks to help them with decluttering lol, I just helped my granddad give his good clothes to a friend who has a second hand shop, and I took my grandmothers dresses :) But what I like to do now is mending things, and becoming better at extending life on my items (mainly clothes) by learning more and trial/error with visible mending, stain removing, etc. Bringing old clothes back to life! And it's so much fun. I'm currently embroidering a sweater with stains that won't budge, and I'm cutting up old polyester scarfes from my grandmother to make a bag!
@@SagaJohanna my daughter upcycled a lot of my mum's good clothes. Mum had gowns that she'd sewn in the 60s and 70s for weddings and other formal occasions. My daughter remade them all into dresses, skirts and shirts for herself. Some she sold, others she kept. She got constant compliments from people. Young people especially wanted to know where she got her clothes from as they loved the fabrics and patterns. She also upcycled my old bridesmaid dress into a couple of pieces of edgy clothing. Both my mum and my grandmother sewed baby blankets and bedcovers from old clothes. I'm from a rural area and it was common for people to reuse fabrics, wood and metal items by making them into something new and usable. A great idea to make your granma's scarves into a bag! Homemade things, especially when they are remade from our elder's stuff, are so much nicer and hold sentimentality. Something to treasure.
Wonderful video! I wish me and my non-minimalist hubby could live more like you do. Or at least close. But that will never happen. But I’m still decluttering though! Lol! Inspirational video 👍👍👍💗🌹
In the art studio I work in with my clients/students, minimalist thinking works well. Too much stuff does not affect me so much, but some of my clients don't function as well in the classic art studio. Too many distractions and too many details to get lost in.. Someone hung up 70s style curtains in the studio and half the group suffered from over visual stimulation. We are all individuals, and react differently, but the physical environment in a space, an interesting aspect. Your videos are great, I wish you did some in Swedish as well. The relationship and well being videos I have clients that should see!!
I used to be an extreme minimalist but it wasn't by choice. I am working to get back to it, and I will. The challenge is getting my husband onboard with it. It may take time, and in truth, he may never choose to also be minimalist, but I will be whether he is or not Thank you so much for your videos. You encourage me.
Thank you for your kind words! Reading and learning the same things has really helped me and my husband be on the same page. I can recommend “the True Cost” or “Ascension or Samsara”. Both great documentaries about the downside of consumerism!
It’s been hard to find extreme minimalist WOMEN! So glad I found your channel☺️💓
Agreed!!! Thank you so much for commenting 🥰❤️

Yes, I absolutely agree. The energy that comes from less stuff is quite incredible!!

Could you make a video about how minimalism could help with anxiety disorder? Absolutely love your channel
That is such a great idea, thank you! Yes, will absolutely do that. Thank you

我最喜歡極簡的感覺就是
搬家的時候,早上開收拾東西,下午就收拾好可以離開~~
A lovely video. Minimalism really does help to create a calm environment. :-)

@@SagaJohanna thank you!
george carlin does a standup on "stuff", super funny, if he slips a curse word(s) i truely appologise
"A Place for My Stuff" - George Carlin.
good job I want you to know that I like this broadcast a very minimal amount-because to like it anymore would just be to add clutter affection!
Me watching the video thinking I need to buy something to be minimalist 🤡
Haha :D You have to watch my latest video ua-cam.com/video/FUBXQMT9_8Y/v-deo.html
