Canadian here, we have been rocking out to Bryan Adams for over 30 years or more, he's one of our greats. This song is a Canadian fav, never gets old😎🤘🤘👍
Not yet old enough to feel the true sentiments of the song, they didn't even bring it up. I actually did grow up with the song on the radio, since I'm Generation X. But Adams was a baby boomer singing about the sixties, now that I listen to the lyrics thinking about the 80s, ironically when the song was released, I feel it now.
Well he was 9 in the summer of 69, would have turned 10 in Nov of 69, he didn't really take off till the early 80s, this is about the only song "about the 60s" that he made. Even this song referencing forming a band in school and them moving on with life, that would have been around 1975 for him, it was more like the song was about the 70s but "the summer of 79" maybe didn't have the sound he wanted so he changed it to 69, most of his songs are about life in general with no time placement.
“Heaven” should be next...there is an acoustic version that’s just beautiful too! He has so many hits...Bryan Adams was everywhere growing up in South Africa! 💛
should check out his duets with Tina Turner 'It's Only love', Melanie C "When You're Gone', Sting and Rod Stewart 'All For Love'..also with Bonnie Riatt, Pavarotti, Barbara Streisand, and others..everyone wanted to work with him across all genres.
I was 18 in the summer of 69' and yes they were the best years of my life... I was a singer in a rock band at that time. I saw Brian Adams do this live. It was fantastic.
Bryan Adams was the first native Canadian to sell 1 million records in Canada. Reckless is the album that sold 1 million records! In the 1970s and 1980s, he used to live in West Vancouver, a suburb of Vancouver. I stayed in the city of Vancouver. We would cross paths ... I never saw him ... until a concert in the USA! He needed a hit album: he signed a bad contract with A and M Records which left him in debt! 😖 Luckily, the album Reckless became his bestseller! 😃 Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. They are the Lennon and McCartney of Canada. 🇨🇦 This is the 2nd most popular song from Bryan Adams (born in Kingston, ONT ). The album Reckless features this song and most of the other BA hits. Released on Bryan Adams needed a hit album: he signed a bad contract with A and M Records which left him in debt! 😖 Luckily, the album Reckless became his bestseller! 😃 Written by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. They are the Lennon and McCartney of Canada. 🇨🇦 Engineered by Bob Clearmountain. The previous year, 1983, he engineered the David Bowie album Let's Dance, bestseller!, and the Bryan Adams album Cuts Like a Knife. Recorded in Little Mountain Sound, Vancouver, BC, Canada. This album prompted many rock musicians to book this studio for recording. The peak for this studio was from 1981 to 1991. Parts of this song are true. Jody refers to roadie Jody Perpick, friend of BA. The only American in the band in the video is John Hannah. All the other musicians are from Vancouver, Canada. This is the 2nd most popular song from Bryan Adams (born in Kingston, ONT ). The album Reckless features this song and most of the other BA hits. Released on 5 November 1984, the birthday of BA! He was in his 1st peak! 🤯 His 2nd peak came in 1991! 🤯 Lynette Anthony is the actress. She is in 5 more videos in the Reckless album. The video to this song leads to the next video: Somebody. But my suggested next video 📹 is Everything I Do I Do It for You. This is the song that became more popular than Summer of 69! Everything I Do I Do It For You is 30+ years old! 🎂 And was Billboard Song of the Year for 1991. 🏆 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇨🇦
Bryan is our Canadian ICON - just like Celine Dion. He has a great 30 year rabbit hole to go down. The girl that's in this video is also in his videos for Heaven and Run to You. It's like a trilogy. Hope you enjoy. Hugs to you both from Ontario, Canada ;)
I saw Bryan Adams down in your neck of the woods at Market Square Arena in '92. His voice is powerful, so many great songs and the memories from that era that go with them. Kinda feeling old when I listen to them, but it's awesome to see young folks such as you and Chrys react and have the same appreciation for music that I grew up with.
Bryan Adams has so many songs. I’ve seen him in concert three times and he never disappoints. You don’t realize how many songs you know until you’re singing along with everyone else.
@Life- Bryan Adams is one of the best singers ever IMO. Another great song of his that you should react to is Everything I Do. Thanks for this reaction of Summer of 69. I just love this song.
Cuts like a knife has to be next, great reaction guys. This was a banger when it dropped back in the day. He also does the soundtrack for the animation movie Spirit, which is a great movie to share with your little one.
You guys got out of it exactly what you were supposed to; it's just a fun, nostalgic song. Those of us who grew up at this time saw this constantly on MTV (maybe a bit TOO much ;p). Back then, there wasn't even a HINT of a thought about the internet existing. We never would've imagined in a million years that we'd one day be watching young couples like yourselves react to this, lol. Thumbs up!
Heaven, This time, Straight from the heart, Everything i do i do it for you (theme from Robin Hood movie), somebody, Run to you, it's only love (duet with Tina Turner), cuts like a knife, do i have to say the words?, please forgive me, have you ever really loved a woman? These are excellents Bryan Adams' songs.
Of course what we did back in the day was listen to the radio all the time- esp in the car. Loved turning this one up and singing along! Glad you enjoyed it!
Classic 80s rock. I could listen to Bryan Adams all day long. Fantastic voice, and he had so many hits. His biggest hit had to be "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)", which was the love theme from Kevin Costner's version of "Robin Hood." Talk about a song that was played at weddings for YEARS. But his rock songs are just as epic. "Cuts Like a Knife" and "Run to You" are definitely must-listens. Anything recommended in the comments is worth a try, actually. Cheers!
I saw him live in a student lounge in my technical college in the early 80’s with about 20 other people. Next time I saw him live was in a huge arena with 20,000 screaming fans. He’s fantastic!
You next one has to be Run To You by Bryan Adams. Also please more Canadian reactions, specifically that rapper Classified that I've told yall about and yall said you would get to. But yeah Canada is underappreciated
I was heading for thirteen. Virgo. Moonlanding. That happened. Woodstock. Tons of stuff. Brian was nine-and-a-half. What can i say about home-boy? Terrific voice. Nothing succeeds like success. Immaculate songcraft, great band and production back in the day. See him and Tina Turner.
Bryan Adams reminds me so much of my aunt. after a bad car accident my aunt raised me and i just love this song so much. Also this song is a testament to powerful voices before autotune, autotune has nothing compared to the vocal classics.
Not my favorite of his but probably the one most people think of. "Run to You" is my favorite but "Cuts Like a Knife" and "Heaven" are also pretty darn great. He did a bunch of movie songs too. The one from DON JUAN DE MARCO was really good. You guys gotta start watching movies. He's good friends with Tina Turner. I thought they used to date but I'm not sure if that was just a rumor. They did a song together. "It's Only Love". ua-cam.com/video/_6igcfvq2BQ/v-deo.html
Funny how the Adults would say your school days will be the best days of your life. Back then we would say your crazy I hate School. But They Were Right! Playing in a basement Band from Jr. High School and Playing the Bar Scene for a couple of years after High School was a time I'll Never Forget. A lot of Special Times Back Then. With Me It Was The Summer Of '79. 😁💗🤘
Check out Have You Really Ever Loved a Woman? Run To You, Heaven, Please Forgive Me, I Do It For You (his most successful song) and All For Love. He has so many great songs. My fave from this list is Have You Really Ever Loved a Woman from the movie Don Juan DeMarco ❤️
Saw Bryan Adams co-headline a tour w/ Def Leppard in 2005. He was alright... not the superstar I had expected him to be, but a good performer. Bryan Adams was huge in the 80's and early 90's... then after his ballad "Everything I do (I do it for you)" was a megahit, his popularity swayed as rock fans were not thrilled w/ that direction. So later records did not sell as well.
Hilariously most think this is about the year 1969, but in reality it is about a teenager getting to 3rd Base. Listen carefully and you will catch it, in the lyrics.
There is something you may want to know about the girl in this video. First of all, this song has been one of my favorites since it came out, and the album it came off of is one of the best selling albums of the 1980's, "Reckless". Several songs from that album had videos made out of them, and three of those videos contained the girl you saw. The girl is English model and actress Lysette Anthony, who was 21 at the time of the video, six years younger than Bryan Adams. Lysette Anthony's career was going along nicely, when she ran into Harvey Weinstein. She became one of Weinstein's victims. She was so devastated over what happened. Weinstein has too many victims to count.
you need to do heaven next to continue the story. there was a cover of heaven by dj sammy. 2 duets with bryan are baby when your gone ft mel c(sporty spice)and it's only love ft tina turner. love this reminds me of scondary school and 80's summers.
My guy this was my mom's FAVORITE Artist when she was in high school. He was hot af too lol 😆 Well until that horrible multiple plastic surgery accident. Anyway, Heaven or Cuts like a knife should definitely be next 😉
You know what’s great and what was great about this song? No booty twerking, no head splitting loud thumping bass, no foul mouthed lyrics and no gold grills with diamonds in them.
It's easy to look like you're not straining when you're singing because it is lip-synced for the video. The recording is done in the studio and then they lip-sync the video clips. If they recorded the audio in different environments like he was "singing" in on the video, the sound would be very inconsistent and not up to the quality they need. Having said all that, great song; great reaction.
Obligatory comment stating Bryan Adams was 9 years old in 1969 and the 'Summer of 69' referenced in this song was a summer where him and a girl spent all their time 69ing.

True. We lived in the song without knowing it
I was born in the summer of 69 and grew up listening to this song in the 80's. Awesome song!
Same. And I under-appreciated him back then, they played this song SO dang much on MTV. I didn't DISlike it, I just wanted my metal to be played, lol.
Well he was 9 in the summer of 69, would have turned 10 in Nov of 69, he didn't really take off till the early 80s, this is about the only song "about the 60s" that he made. This is BS odium...anyone can feel it how they want
Run To You is the ultimate banger by Bryan Adams!
The lady was in 4 Videos in songs from the album and the story continues, as they become...
He's great LIVE! "Have you ever really loved a woman".Dude had 12 top 10s!!!
Saw him in ‘92 and Journey opened. Amazing.
“Heaven” should be next...there is an acoustic version that’s just beautiful too! He has so many hits...Bryan Adams was everywhere growing up in South Africa! 💛
the Live version
Bryan Adams "Cuts like a knife" ❤️
One of my favorite songs by Bryan Adams is have you ever really loved a woman.
One of the best voices in music, still sounds great
should check out his duets with Tina Turner 'It's Only love', Melanie C "When You're Gone', Sting and Rod Stewart 'All For Love'..also with Bonnie Riatt, Pavarotti, Barbara Streisand, and others..everyone wanted to work with him across all genres.
When you get old af like me, you'll really understand nostalgia. I'm 62 now and looking back ages 14 and 15 were the best.
its crazy that he still makes music and his voice sounds like he hasn't aged
I was 18 in the summer of 69' and yes they were the best years of my life... I was a singer in a rock band at that time. I saw Brian Adams do this live. It was fantastic.

Bryan Adams was an enormous part of early MTV. Cuts Like a Knife is a great song and (I believe) his first video.
Give Me Your Love" and sleepless nights were the first. But sleepless nights was a promo video
Great song! Mom was a senior when this was out (84-85)

Bryan Adams is an amazing song writer x

I grew up on this Song. It was played at School Dances and Parties.
Awesome song. I saw him Live in 86 and had a blast. Skid Rowe opened for him and man what show that was. 😎
@Life- Bryan Adams is one of the best singers ever IMO. Another great song of his that you should react to is Everything I Do. Thanks for this reaction of Summer of 69. I just love this song.

Strange that this video should pop up now as I'm going to see Bryan Adams tonight in Glasgow here in Scotland.

This is the first of 3 videos/songs that tell a story, the next one is Heaven, and the 3rd is Run To You
This song just makes you feel good!

For me, this song was playing in the summer of '85, which rhymes with '69. It was great. Thanks for reacting.
This is a great song, but in my opinion his best song was Run to You. It's definitely worth reacting to!
This has become one of my favorite songs. 🧡🥰
This is such a straight up jam. Pushin power and good vibes
I saw him live in a student lounge in my technical college in the early 80’s with about 20 other people. Next time I saw him live was in a huge arena with 20,000 screaming fans. He’s fantastic!

What can i say about home-boy? Terrific voice. Nothing succeeds like success. Immaculate songcraft, great band and production back in the day. See him and Tina Turner.
Oh wow Brian Adams is the man!!! More Brian Adams please.
You might want to try Deborah Cox. Another Canadian artist just given a Canadian Hall of fame induction. She had a stellar R&B voice.
Bryan Adams reminds me so much of my aunt. after a bad car accident my aunt raised me and i just love this song so much.
Also this song is a testament to powerful voices before autotune, autotune has nothing compared to the vocal classics.
Not sure he is referencing the year , no what I'm sayin ?

Bryan Adams has said it wasn't about the year 1969, he was 9 years old then 😁.

Cuts Like a Knife is a good Bryan Addams song

Everything I do I do it for you 🔥🔥🔥
Just an FYI, Bryan has admitted in interviews that this song has nothing to do with the year ‘69 😉. Try “Cuts Like A Knife” video.
Please react to Bryan Adams: Everything I Do I Do It For You and All For Love w/ Sting and Rod Stewart. They're fire
