They really seem to want to not spend money on their cake, but eat it too. They don't give enough time, budget, or care to any of the products they've been making recently. We've had like 2 or 3 good movies since End Game, and all of them gave almost complete creative control to people that actually cared about the product. to be fair, I think Kang is just too obscure and his debut (or multiple debuts, if we have to include the tv shows) were unconvincing after what we had in Thanos... Doom would've been great if only they didn't bring RDJ back specifically for that character.
I’m not angry that Doctor Doom is coming to the MCU or that RDJ is playing him. I’m angry that Marvel made the decision to completely write Kang out of the MCU and pretend he never happened. They could easily recast him or shorten his role in the MCU. It's not that hard. They could easily squeeze the rest of his story in What If and make his variants the villains for a few episodes. They could also just recast him and make him Doctor Doom’s partner in Avengers Doomsday and then Doom betrays Kang. I really hope Marvel reconsiders this decision and they keep Kang around because there are actually a lot of us who are interested in the character. Marvel should just hire me. I guarantee I can wrap this story up for them and save them the headache of shifting all of their plans around. Now I *KNOW* Doctor Doom will be ruined because of these changes. There's no time to build him up. Doctor Doom needs his own saga and there's just not enough for him to do in the Multiverse Saga.
They had an in-universe explanation as to why Kang would have been recast as another variant(s) and no one would have batted an eye and yet they decided to completely re-tool their entire plan or severely cut short their original storyline to create an alternate one to shoehorn Doctor Doom instead of having his own path into Secret Wars with either the Fantastic Four movie or in different related Marvel movie.

the anchor being thing doesn't make sense in the first place, but definitely not if it's passed down. if there was always a new anchor being after an earlier one died, then their universe would never die out.
And if the universe does die out when there die time wouldn't really exist in any meaningful way as reality is would only be capable of lasting only a relatively small amount of time longer than the lifespan of a single person Maybe 1000 years longer than that person which isn't much time for a universe
The anchor being concept only works in a meta context. It was a metaphor for the death of the Fox-verse and the fact that Hugh Jackman was at the center of that 'verse's success. Marvel is going to drop the concept entirely because, as mentioned above, it really only works within the context of a meta Deadpool movie
If the Anchor being is constantly reincarnated like the Avatar in ATLA then it would make sense, the cycle or the Anchor being, only actually dies if the Anchor is permanently erased from existance, body, mind and soul (like there soul is incapable of reincarnating again to sustain the timeline). Thats the only way to fix these plot hole.

The timelines are able to last without their anchor being for millions of years apparently. So it theres a good chance that the timelines aren’t necessarily born with their anchor beings. Kinda like how a human being isn’t born with certain parts of their body that they can’t live without later on.

I believe Tom's Spiderman is the anchor being because of Tony. Who ONLY made the time machine to reverse the snap, AFTER he saw the picture of him and Peter. The process can take up to thousands of years, and the ONLY ones who circumvent this are the ones who can travel through multiverses. Then those beings can cause incursions which are another way that the sacred timeline corrects itself. By pruning the tampered timeline and verse.
Doom is most definitely an upgrade, the problem is that Kang deserves better than to be written out and forgotten like this and Doom deserves better than to be shoehorned in at the last minute.
Anchor beings made no sense. It undermines the events of Loki TV series. It still feels MCU is writing themselves into a wall like Fox did with the X-men franchise.
I think the best way they could handle the change from Kang to Doctor Doom is to have Doctor Doom take over and eliminate the Kang Dynasty early on with his own variants, ending the Multiverse loop and solidifying that Doctor Doom is an even worse threat than Kang because his variants are completely unified in what they do......or perhaps he is somehow able to eliminate them all on his own without any assistance from his own variants. Perhaps because he's the rarest version of Doctor Doom and thus most of his other variants are Iron Man/Tony Stark. Either way if they play their cards right they could use Kang as a stepping stone to make Doctor Doom appear far more menacing and deadly.
At this point I imagine the after credit scene of ant man 3 will be looked back on similar to the after credit scene of Incredible Hulk. They set up the Leader in 2008 and aren’t paying it off until 2025. They set up the council of kangs in 2023 and they probably won’t pay it off until 2040
I was so invested in Kang because of Loki and Ant Man 3, which his plotline outshined Loki and Ant man themselves in their own show/movie. Using the other two spiderman in an avengers movie is a huge power move too. Even if Kang doesn't get his own movie, I wish they would continue his plotline since it has so much potential.

I think Doom was always the right choice. It sounds to me like they were trying so hard to make Kang do what Doom did in the Secret Wars 2015 run. Now with this, they can pocket Kang for later (when they have a new actor) and bring his threat back for a future arc, maybe one that follows some of his other outings in the comics

Sounds like a mess, like most of phase 4. I think it's a good idea to reel it in with Doom. Let him have his badass moment where he wipes the Council of Kangs and rules the multiverse instead, become God Emperor Doom and have Secret Wars with him as the main villain. The only concern I have with this is Doom might have a lack of screen time. He's a fairly complex character, and it sounds like he's only appearing post-credits in the F4 movie. That leaves little besides Doomsday/Secret Wars itself. I guess Thanos didn't have much either but I would have liked to see more of Doom.

As an actor? Yes. But they made a tremendous build up with Kang in Loki only to stumble on Quantumania. Still, abandoning the Kang plotline will leave fans wanting more of him which I think what Marvel wants. I am mostly confident Kang will appear in some form .

The thing with Infinity War and Endgame is that we had followed most of these heroes, Bucky and T'challa, Nat, Steve and Sam, Tony and the others on Earth, Vision and Wanda, Thor and Hulk coming back to Earth, the Guardians getting involved, Strange and Spidey also. These characters were established more or less to a degree. But with 5 and 6 if they did use DP, Wolvie the the 3 Spider-Men as well as Ghost Rider etc then it would have given them something truly amazing to go by and then left them and the 616 Avengers to be in Secret Wars. Which would have made sense.
Pal all good points but no one can play Kang in live action but majors. It's an unbreakable part of his contract. Marvel have already half committed to continuing the Kang story via some form of animation story. Could be a what if style show or an animated movie on Disney. But they will 100% sew up the Kang story, they just have to do it within the legal parameters of contracts. This was always going to happen. Tobey Maguire was never going to come back for just No Way Home. Nor was Andrew Garfield. For all the implications of finality that Deadpool and Wolverine had, it was never the swan song for Hugh Jackman. If this leak is true, it's interesting. Marvel and Disney listened to complaints and ditched She-Hulk, Rule 63 Loki, Shang Chi, America Chavez and Captain Marvel. But this movie idea feels like old times and not in a good way. Remember when Spider-Man and Wolverine would be slapped onto the covers of comics that had nothing to do with them? That's what The Kang Dynasty feels like. Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire meeting up with each other is the ultimate example of cinematic fanservice. An event 20 years in the making. To add a double whammy, Wolverine would team up with three iterations of Spider-Man. What would Disney do? How would they botch the unbotchable? Easy! Spider-Man and Wolverine team up to stop Kang and lose! To a guy who was taken down by Rule 63 Loki and a stampede of ants!

Doom isn’t a downgrade necessarily, but Kang Wars would have undoubtedly been one of the best things to come out of the MCU. The amount of story telling and ideas they had at their disposal is insane. Not sure much of Secret Wars and Battle World, but seeing all of this unfold and Doom be the true villain for the Kangs and the avengers is what I was hoping for
The best thing they could do (aside from just recasting Kang?) is to show Doom annihilating the council of Kangs. The opening scene of Doomsday, a portal opens to the council, and in steps Doom. We then see him just go to town, killing all of them in various means, single-handedly. This would conclude Kang’s story, albeit very abruptly and slightly underwhelming, but it could also work as a very sudden and shocking twist if done well. The council’s threat is no more, but Dr Doom’s threat is signified IMMEDIATELY
Woof. That plotline sounded pretty bad. I just really dislike the concept of Anchor Beings, and Matvel should move away from that immediately. There are plenty of other ways to create multiversal conflict that doesn’t give any one character “chosen one” status. I just dislike the idea that there is a main character for an entire universe. It is so goofy as to break immersion in the story. The incursion plot has already been set up in Dr. Strange. Go with that.
Like I commented before Loki stopped all the Kang Variants and the Multiversal war but another threat started that is Dr Doom and Loki will fight Doom and i really hope its Loki who recruits all the heroes for Secret wars.
Wrong. RDJ was only confirmed for Avengers Doomsday. Folks WANT him to return to the mcu as Dr Doom in the new Fantastic Four flick but I don’t think that’s the direction they’re heading. A perfect example is Doctor Strange 2; In it Reed Richards is played by John Krasinski however, in the mcu it has been confirmed that Pedro Pascal is Mr Fantastic. Also that bit about the three Spider-Men was nothing more than a rumor bc A, Tom Holland can’t be Dimension 616s anchor being bc Sony still owns the rights to the character and his villains which is why Pete is covered up in the photo in Happy Hogan’s office in Deadpool 3. B, Spider-Man FFH has established it more than once that he’s not Ironman and he never will be.
The problem I have with RDJ casting as Doom is that it doesn’t fit. If it were not Victor and simply an alternate timeline where Stark becomes Doom that would probably fit. However I think the success RDJ had as Iron Man was that RDJ was simply playing himself on screen and it was a perfect cast for Stark. However I don’t think RDJ playing himself on screen will fit Victor. I have to wonder if RDJ has the source matter knowledge to adapt his great acting skills to the role of Victor. I have my doubts
Being done properly, Doom should always be an upgrade. They haven't done a very good job of capturing him on film yet, but I'm hopeful for sure. Esp given we likely end up w/God Emperor Doom in Battleworld. I hope we get the famous frame of killing Thanos in it :)
Kang would have been good as an in-between villain before starting another big story. It could have worked as a lighter tone but nobody can take it seriously when there’s nothing at stake anymore.
As much as I was bummed to hear about the Jonathan Majors stuff, I think I prefer the new direction with Doom. But I understand the complaints about RDJ and Russo Brothers being used as an easy fix for the messy Multiverse Saga we've got so far. Overall though, I'm optimistic and look forward to the next two Avengers films.

Look, I'm not exactly sold on this whole Incursions thing or Anchor beings yet. Especially anchor beings, as it just seems like a meta excuse. If they were to go into detail on how this lone figure keeps a universe alive (that is not a meta excuse) then maybe I'll change my mind. Incursions are in similar fashion, where it's like... How does this whole interaction of universes cause them to die? Then there's Spiderverse with the glitching. It's clear these are all taking place in the same multiverse. Is it just simply because of the means of multiverse travel that is unstable? I'm certain Canon Events and Anchor Beings are related, but still would like some more info on why these could cause a universe to collapse.
Are we excited? Do we want to see yet another time when you finally get a character you’ve been asking for but instead of the one you know you get either a sawed off version of one, a variant version, or the “directors vision” of one. Cus this definitely is what I wanted.
Although I didn't enjoy the MCU's interpretation of Kang, this idea actually sounds interesting. The Loki TV show single handedly made us care about the multiverse, at least for a while. Season 2 was amazing imo. The What if series was pretty good too. I enjoyed some of the TV shows, but they all seemed ... directionless... this would've given them direction. This movie could've potentially been the piece that helps up make sense of whatever the fuck was going on in phase 4 and 5. This movie would've actually made it seem like Marvel actually had a plan and didn't just throw random stuff at a wall to see what sticks.

I’m not angry that Doctor Doom is coming to the MCU or that RDJ is playing him. I’m angry that Marvel made the decision to completely write Kang out of the MCU and pretend he never happened. They could easily recast him or shorten his role in the MCU. It's not that hard. They could easily squeeze the rest of his story in What If and make his variants the villains for a few episodes. They could also just recast him and make him Doctor Doom’s partner in Avengers Doomsday and then Doom betrays Kang. I really hope Marvel reconsiders this decision and they keep Kang around because there are actually a lot of us who are interested in the character. Marvel should just hire me. I guarantee I can wrap this story up for them and save them the headache of shifting all of their plans around. Now I *KNOW* Doctor Doom will be ruined because of these changes. There's no time to build him up. Doctor Doom needs his own saga and there's just not enough for him to do in the Multiverse Saga.

They had an in-universe explanation as to why Kang would have been recast as another variant(s) and no one would have batted an eye and yet they decided to completely re-tool their entire plan or severely cut short their original storyline to create an alternate one to shoehorn Doctor Doom instead of having his own path into Secret Wars with either the Fantastic Four movie or in different related Marvel movie.

the anchor being thing doesn't make sense in the first place, but definitely not if it's passed down. if there was always a new anchor being after an earlier one died, then their universe would never die out.

The anchor being concept only works in a meta context. It was a metaphor for the death of the Fox-verse and the fact that Hugh Jackman was at the center of that 'verse's success. Marvel is going to drop the concept entirely because, as mentioned above, it really only works within the context of a meta Deadpool movie

If the Anchor being is constantly reincarnated like the Avatar in ATLA then it would make sense, the cycle or the Anchor being, only actually dies if the Anchor is permanently erased from existance, body, mind and soul (like there soul is incapable of reincarnating again to sustain the timeline). The timelines are able to last without their anchor being for millions of years apparently. So it theres a good chance that the timelines aren’t necessarily born with their anchor beings. Kinda like how a human being isn’t born with certain parts of their body that they can’t live without later on.

The process can take up to thousands of years, and the ONLY ones who circumvent this are the ones who can travel through multiverses. Then those beings can cause incursions which are another way that the sacred timeline corrects itself.
By pruning the tampered timeline and verse.
Doom is most definitely an upgrade, the problem is that Kang deserves better than to be written out and forgotten like this and Doom deserves better than to be shoehorned in at the last minute.

I think the best way they could handle the change from Kang to Doctor Doom is to have Doctor Doom take over and eliminate the Kang Dynasty early on with his own variants, ending the Multiverse loop and solidifying that Doctor Doom is an even worse threat than Kang because his variants are completely unified in what they do......or perhaps he is somehow able to eliminate them all on his own without any assistance from his own variants. Perhaps because he's the rarest version of Doctor Doom and thus most of his other variants are Iron Man/Tony Stark. Either way if they play their cards right they could use Kang as a stepping stone to make Doctor Doom appear far more menacing and deadly.

At this point I imagine the after credit scene of ant man 3 will be looked back on similar to the after credit scene of Incredible Hulk. They set up the Leader in 2008 and aren’t paying it off until 2025. They set up the council of kangs in 2023 and they probably won’t pay it off until 2040

I think Doom was always the right choice. It sounds to me like they were trying so hard to make Kang do what Doom did in the Secret Wars 2015 run. Now with this, they can pocket Kang for later (when they have a new actor) and bring his threat back for a future arc, maybe one that follows some of his other outings in the comics

Sounds like a mess, like most of phase 4. I think it's a good idea to reel it in with Doom. Let him have his badass moment where he wipes the Council of Kangs and rules the multiverse instead, become God Emperor Doom and have Secret Wars with him as the main villain.
The only concern I have with this is Doom might have a lack of screen time. He's a fairly complex character, and it sounds like he's only appearing post-credits in the F4 movie. That leaves little besides Doomsday/Secret Wars itself. I guess Thanos didn't have much either but I would have liked to see more of Doom.
Having the council killed by Doom would be a shit way to end the Kang storyline and it wouldn't satisfy the audience. Kang deserves better.

From what I speculate is that Kang would be indefinite because He Who Remain died I believe it would have been impossible to defeat infinite of kangs because it would be like trying to defeat An Atom
The thing with Infinity War and Endgame is that we had followed most of these heroes, Bucky and T'challa, Nat, Steve and Sam, Tony and the others on Earth, Vision and Wanda, Thor and Hulk coming back to Earth, the Guardians getting involved, Strange and Spidey also. These characters were established more or less to a degree.
But with 5 and 6 if they did use DP, Wolvie the the 3 Spider-Men as well as Ghost Rider etc then it would have given them something truly amazing to go by and then left them and the 616 Avengers to be in Secret Wars. Which would have made sense.
Pal all good points but no one can play Kang in live action but majors. It's an unbreakable part of his contract. Marvel have already half committed to continuing the Kang story via some form of animation story. Could be a what if style show or an animated movie on Disney. But they will 100% sew up the Kang story, they just have to do it within the legal parameters of contracts. I hate it to honestly majors was amazing but this Doom story is just the reality and RDJ is a treat instead of some other untested punk

Everyone already hate him and he would be the perfect villian just method acting.

This is tragic. We lost a good story because the MCU was hijacked in phase 5. Johnathan Majors should have the Kang role and RDJ can play Doom. Finish the story you started. We all wanted to see it.

This was always going to happen. Tobey Maguire was never going to come back for just No Way Home. Nor was Andrew Garfield. For all the implications of finality that Deadpool and Wolverine had, it was never the swan song for Hugh Jackman.
If this leak is true, it's interesting. Marvel and Disney listened to complaints and ditched She-Hulk, Rule 63 Loki, Shang Chi, America Chavez and Captain Marvel. But this movie idea feels like old times and not in a good way.
Remember when Spider-Man and Wolverine would be slapped onto the covers of comics that had nothing to do with them? That's what The Kang Dynasty feels like. Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire meeting up with each other is the ultimate example of cinematic fanservice. An event 20 years in the making. To add a double whammy, Wolverine would team up with three iterations of Spider-Man.
What would Disney do? How would they botch the unbotchable? Easy! Spider-Man and Wolverine team up to stop Kang and lose! To a guy who was taken down by Rule 63 Loki and a stampede of ants!

The period afterwards, before the multiverse returned was pretty awesome in my opinion. The films/TV/everything has got too obsessed with it for too long. Its like zombies 10-15ish years ago.
Dr. Doom is so over due! He’s by far Marvel’s greatest villain, to be finally getting him after all this time has me absolutely buzzing

Doom isn’t a downgrade necessarily, but Kang Wars would have undoubtedly been one of the best things to come out of the MCU. The amount of story telling and ideas they had at their disposal is insane. Not sure much of Secret Wars and Battle World, but seeing all of this unfold and Doom be the true villain for the Kangs and the avengers is what I was hoping for

The best thing they could do (aside from just recasting Kang?) is to show Doom annihilating the council of Kangs.
The opening scene of Doomsday, a portal opens to the council, and in steps Doom. We then see him just go to town, killing all of them in various means, single-handedly.
This would conclude Kang’s story, albeit very abruptly and slightly underwhelming, but it could also work as a very sudden and shocking twist if done well.
The council’s threat is no more, but Dr Doom’s threat is signified IMMEDIATELY

Woof. That plotline sounded pretty bad. I just really dislike the concept of Anchor Beings, and Matvel should move away from that immediately. There are plenty of other ways to create multiversal conflict that doesn’t give any one character “chosen one” status. I just dislike the idea that there is a main character for an entire universe. It is so goofy as to break immersion in the story. The incursion plot has already been set up in Dr. Strange. Go with that.
Like I commented before Loki stopped all the Kang Variants and the Multiversal war but another threat started that is Dr Doom and Loki will fight Doom and i really hope its Loki who recruits all the heroes for Secret wars.
Wrong. RDJ was only confirmed for Avengers Doomsday. Folks WANT him to return to the mcu as Dr Doom in the new Fantastic Four flick but I don’t think that’s the direction they’re heading. A perfect example is Doctor Strange 2; In it Reed Richards is played by John Krasinski however, in the mcu it has been confirmed that Pedro Pascal is Mr Fantastic. Also that bit about the three Spider-Men was nothing more than a rumor bc A, Tom Holland can’t be Dimension 616s anchor being bc Sony still owns the rights to the character and his villains which is why Pete is covered up in the photo in Happy Hogan’s office in Deadpool 3. B, Spider-Man FFH has established it more than once that he’s not Ironman and he never will be.
The problem I have with RDJ casting as Doom is that it doesn’t fit. If it were not Victor and simply an alternate timeline where Stark becomes Doom that would probably fit. However I think the success RDJ had as Iron Man was that RDJ was simply playing himself on screen and it was a perfect cast for Stark. However I don’t think RDJ playing himself on screen will fit Victor. I have to wonder if RDJ has the source matter knowledge to adapt his great acting skills to the role of Victor. I have my doubts
Hilarious how RDJ is playing as Tony Starks Doom. Before we even got the original Doom in the MCU.
When I see where the MCU currently is, I truly appreciate the epic retcon they did with Loki & Kang. God of Stories works almost flawlessly.
Being done properly, Doom should always be an upgrade. They haven't done a very good job of capturing him on film yet, but I'm hopeful for sure. Esp given we likely end up w/God Emperor Doom in Battleworld. I hope we get the famous frame of killing Thanos in it :)
Kang would have been good as an in-between villain before starting another big story. It could have worked as a lighter tone but nobody can take it seriously when there’s nothing at stake anymore.
As much as I was bummed to hear about the Jonathan Majors stuff, I think I prefer the new direction with Doom. But I understand the complaints about RDJ and Russo Brothers being used as an easy fix for the messy Multiverse Saga we've got so far. Overall though, I'm optimistic and look forward to the next two Avengers films.

Look, I'm not exactly sold on this whole Incursions thing or Anchor beings yet. Especially anchor beings, as it just seems like a meta excuse. If they were to go into detail on how this lone figure keeps a universe alive (that is not a meta excuse) then maybe I'll change my mind.
Incursions are in similar fashion, where it's like... How does this whole interaction of universes cause them to die?
Then there's Spiderverse with the glitching. It's clear these are all taking place in the same multiverse. Is it just simply because of the means of multiverse travel that is unstable?
I'm certain Canon Events and Anchor Beings are related, but still would like some more info on why these could cause a universe to collapse.
Despite that and Tbh I’m just glad that my favorite villain was in the MCU.
Not to mention “Avengers Doomsday” is a badass title.
Are we excited? Do we want to see yet another time when you finally get a character you’ve been asking for but instead of the one you know you get either a sawed off version of one, a variant version, or the “directors vision” of one. Cus this definitely is what I wanted.
Although I didn't enjoy the MCU's interpretation of Kang, this idea actually sounds interesting.
The Loki TV show single handedly made us care about the multiverse, at least for a while. Season 2 was amazing imo. The What if series was pretty good too. I enjoyed some of the TV shows, but they all seemed ... directionless... this would've given them direction.
This movie could've potentially been the piece that helps up make sense of whatever the fuck was going on in phase 4 and 5. This movie would've actually made it seem like Marvel actually had a plan and didn't just throw random stuff at a wall to see what sticks.
It’s possible to bring him back after Doom if all is cleared in time with the corporation. They can have one of his variants take Dooms tech or whatever after he’s done and then move on from there but that’s me wishfully thinking. 😢
They still could've easily recast Kang, even just say some throwaway line that their multoversal travel changed his appearance
