They obviously not bright to begin with. Adding a gun into the equation now steps up charges to aggravated arm robbery and other charges, even if gun turns out to be fake, which means way more prison time then just shopping lifting, or theft charges. They likely could have walked out with the stuff without needing any weapons period like most organized retail crimes rings do and face a lot less time when caught.

Interesting point. I live here in NYC and many of the luxury boutiques have someone at the door and/or security to open it for the clientele. The Gucci boutique in Soho opened the door for me. That should have been the case here so the door could stay shut if you suspect something. They weren't exactly dressed for shopping here.
