My daughter and I have been studying these videos and yours Whitney; especially was most excellent. My daughter 24, was able to complete this mission in about 4 hours as my 52 yr old meatcage would of landed a bad shoulder to dislocate. I’m so proud of her and grateful. Thank you for all the comments as well.
Just had the same problem with my 2011 Rogue. Found your video and decided to tackle it myself. Took me about 6 hours and several times I wished I had not tried it. But, your video was awesome and I got it DONE! Thanks soo much!
Man I am super happy found this video. The mechanic had car all day. Didn't fix anything. Said he needs it for 7 hours Mon an Tues and it would be $1000 max. I found both parts $200 new. People suck. If he'd just been reasonable he would have done it today for say $500 and made a good profit... He can pound salt I am doing it THANKS BIG TIME BROTHER
Depends on what your time is worth. Reasonable shop labor is about $50.00/hr depending on location. My time (before I retired) would be about $45-50. $1000 would be "a bit" over the top, and I sure wouldn't pay that either. Then they tend to double or triple the retail price if you bought the parts online, even though they buy the parts at wholesale. 7 hours labor is triple what a DIYer can do it in. The blower has been as low as $40 on Amazon Warehouse Deals. So, I wouldn't pay someone more than $300 and only if I didn't what to deal with the hassle. Yeah, people do suck, and many of the independent shops I've dealt with have a freaking take it or leave it attitude.
I followed your explanations exactly and I managed to change the fan. Your video was very very helpful and thank you for that. I didn't buy the part right away because I didn't know if the fault was the motor, I did all the electrical tests first then I disassembled and tested the fan. I had confirmation that it was indeed the motor that was defective and I ordered. Thanks again for your video.😃
Whitney, I just went through this process and your video was a great help. I'd like to add one step that makes getting the steel U shaped bracket off much easier. Remove the vinyl covering on the bottom of the steering wheel. It's held on by 3 phillips screws. Once this is out of the way, you can use a deep well 10MM socket with a 1/4 drive universal behind it with a 6" extension and get to the upper nut on the bracket very easily. Once I figured this out I got the nut off in just a few seconds.
Just got the wife to stop & pick up a wobble adapter recommended by another vid to remove it. She's not home yet. Might try your trick. I CAN'T get the pedal assembly out with that bracket there at all!
Man I’m no mechanic and battled with it most of the day....but we got it done! I replaced the resistor and blower for $100 saving $600+ We are bowing cold now! Great video it’s a tight space but you can do it!
Too cool. A million thanks. I saw this video yesterday and got the part which was about $85 but well worth it. It took me a little over 2 hours this morning but, now no more squeak. Fantastic!!!! Oh yes, mine is a 2009 Rogue but, the steps were all spot on.
Thank you for showing me to remove the arm bracket that sticks out. I should of done that at the beginning. Would of saved me a lot more time. It was only 2 more screws to not struggle with the blower motor, inhale burnt blower motor dust. Taking a break right now before i install the new blower motor. Removed the bracket before i installed the new one so i dont risk damaging the fins. Everything else was piece of cake.
Thinking witness for your help I just fixed my Nissan Rogue 2011 but takes me 10 hours to fix it but I did thank you so much God bless you all of your family I give you like I subscribe and your Channel thank you so much
Thanks for your help. I should have had a drink handy while doing this. I feel like I've been in a boxing match today. But the heater is in, and so much of the thanks goes to you for blazing this trail. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
2010 rogue with no blower action. Thanks for sharing this. I wanted to see what was involved. I swear engineers should be forced to service their so-called design marvels before a vehicle is allowed to be sold. I'd be willing to bet "modular" assemblies would be a lot less difficult if so. Good video. Cheers!
Thanks Thanks Your video is the best I've seen so far. Your explanations are all very relevant and I think I'm going to embark on this not easy project. I checked the fuses but that's not the problem, I think it's the fan. Keep up with your videos Congratulations
Thanks for uploading this very detailed video/tutorial. It’s going to save me a ton of $$. If you ever come down to the Caribbean (PR), drinks are on me!
Also sometimes taking the seat out can make it alot more pleasant to work on things under the dash . Usually it's only 4 bolts holding the seat and wiring harness
Just did a 2009 Nissan Rogue. Swivel 10mm socket helped with the top of that bracket to the right of the steering wheel. My bottom vent is different; I would need to remove additional panels to remove it entirely. Everything else was the same, but I'm now dealing with a check engine light after I reassmebled everything. Thanks for the video!
Thanks for the video and the money saving tip! I’m not a whisky person but might get a bottle of wine to enjoy after I change my blow heater out! 😄 thanks again!! 🙌🏼
If I was a man I could do it! Awesome job explaining. I need this done Nissan wants to rip me off, but so far I’m freezing in the winter and now roasting as the summer begins. Need to find someone to help🙈. Again awesome video❣️🙏🙏🙏
You can do it, Diane! Just grab some tools and follow the directions. You don't need to be a man! I've worked on my own car since I was 16! Smaller hands actually really help sometimes!
I would like to point out the finned box is not a resister bank . It is a little controller (which replaces a resistor .. with a transistor (a Field effect power transistor to be precise). it is controlled by the operator speed control and is continuously variable. You have idea though, & your video helped me a lot. idiot is too polite a work for the people who made that fan nearly impossible to remove.
2018 Rogue the bracket has to removed to get the extended vent out. Also had to remove some plastic cover over the blower. The job took 12 hours to complete.
I just replaced my blower and it didn't work , watch your video and saw you change the resistor also , thanks going to purchase now and hopefully that's it for this diy project lol no whiskey though 👍
FYI: if you have a 2009 Rogue the heater vent has TWO screws holding it on....this video shows that you remove the one screw and wiggle it off....that is not the case with my 2009. The vent has a longer arm/edge on the front part (kind of behind the air controls)...it is very tough to get to...if you didnt know it was there and keep trying to pull it off like in the video it will never come off unless you really pull and the whole arm breaks. I have small enough hands I was able to wiggle up through the bottom of the center console (drivers side panel) and just feel my way around and take out the Philips screw...just wanted to try to solve at least someone else's pain and frustration if your vent wont come out easy like in this video
This fixed my 2015 Rogue after 2 auto shops told me I had to replace the entire A.C. system $2,000.00 plus if they found anything else wrong. I did have a friend do the blower and relay replacement it that is a mechanic though.
The part is 15 bucks on amazon- the blower is 40. It will rake a novice a full day with a myriad of 1/4 and 3/8 extensions and a Philips #2 stubby and 4".. It is a exercise in YOUR flexibility an patience value.. Be patient and save 700 bucks vs a dealer..
I've replaced the motor twice now because lack of airflow! Think the resistor might be the problem? Hearing different tones/sounds coming from the blower motor on the same fan speed. Or did I fail if there is smal vibrations on the higher fan speeds?
I used three prong oil filter wrench , and removed seat as suggested in comments. Remember to disconnect neg battery cable be for removing seat. Other wise you will need to reset air bag seat
Great video! My car's symptom is that the fan will be completely off sometimes... then pop on. There's no fan noise and it blows silently and well when it's blowing. Do you think that resistor is actually a relay too? There are no cab fan relays sold for the 2010 rogue. Strange eh? Appreciate the help
Confussed.. Blower motor replacement done. Question on the control unit resistor? 2015 .... Two choices on replacement part. 2776100A26 And 27761-4BA0A 2 different items. Why?
This shld b good for 08 (1st yr of production) to '13. Had heck of a time with upper support bolt and reinstall brake clip, liked the support bracket reinstall recomm, lol. ALSO, no screw in my original Nissan blower! Found one, that threaded ar least part way, ha. Finally, resistor off of Amazon looks better than original, had a gasket and 1/4 the cost! New blower in, but seemed slightly shorter than original and is slightly less powerful. PS. Mine doesn't even have that steering column cover, wth? lol.
I'm in the middle of doing this on a 2011 model. I don't see how you could do it without removing the pedal assembly. That bracket to the right up above the pedals definitely has to come out or you can't even get the pedals out. They make the back of that bracket intertwine with the top of the pedal assembly so it is impossible to get out without removing the bracket. I don't think you have room to get that blower past the gas pedal if you don't remove the full assembly.
Sadly, I also own a 2011 Rouge, I have spent 1/2 of what I paid for it in repairs, transmission, both axles, catalytic converter, multiple oxygen sensors (more than once), Mass flow sensor, and the list goes on. This week my resistor went bad, and a new check engine light for a vacuum leak, I'm currently getting 13 mpg. My wife's 2017 Sentra had 28,000 miles when the transmission was replaced on it. Nissan does not build quality cars anymore. They are a far cry from my 86 Hardbody truck which had over 300,000 and only had to replace a $50 pulley the entire time I owned it. I only bought Nissan's for the past 30 years, but there will never be another one sitting in my driveway when I dump the two that I have.
I have stripped the screw out for that bracket any suggestions cuz I'm about to just take a hacksaw in there and cut the screw out I don't know what else I can do it's everything stripping on it take such a large extension and a swivel
First Thank You for this!! It took me a long time and watched this video at least 50 times on Sunday. It works perfect got fan and resistor on amazon for $62.00. The only issue is my check engine light is on now and can’t figure out why. Did you or anyone here have the same issue? And if so do you know the cause? Again thanks for the video and thanks in advance.
Just fought with the bracket on this for over an hour and couldn't get it off - how did you setup your 10mm socket and adapter to allow you to use the wrench? I can't make it out in the video, it almost looks like the socket is connected to the wrong end of the extension rod...
Before seeing his trick and reading how another person took the plastic off the bottom of the steering wheel to reach it with a similar setup, I watched a video that said use a wobble adapter to get at it with an extension, ratchet, and socket. My wife is on her way home now with a wobble adapter, and I hope that reaches that damned nut.
check some youtube vids but I think they changed the blower location after 2013 to behind the glove box on pass side which makes this repair about a 10-15 minute fix rather than this mini career. Again not exactly sure when they made the switch over but thats a google away

Please suggestions
2018 Rogue the bracket has to removed to get the extended vent out. Also had to remove some plastic cover over the blower.

LMAO
I've replaced the motor twice now because lack of airflow! Think the resistor might be the problem? Hearing different tones/sounds coming from the blower motor on the same fan speed. Or did I fail if there is smal vibrations on the higher fan speeds?
Simply brilliant with style 👌

@@derekspears9805 It was the motor itself. I got it out and replaced it. The new one is a bit noisier than the old one, but hey... it works!

Blower motor replacement done.
Question on the control unit resistor?
2015 ....
Two choices on replacement part.
2776100A26
And
27761-4BA0A
2 different items.
Why?
I have the same issue on my 14 Nissan Rogue thanks for the video
I got everything out but can’t turn the blower motor to the left to get it out …. Is there another easy way I can turn it to left to unlock ?
I have the motor fan in and I’ve replaced the resistor but I can not get my harness to plug in!
I like the xtra part,so over all how long to get whole job done?

you were right. I did need to have a lil drinky poo after the bracket removal the right. stubby ratchet, 10" extension, universal, deep 10mm..beer.
Awesome detail in this video. Thank you
People don't forget to change the cabin air filter too so much easier without destroying it
Good video, but i have 1 question for you.Can it br done with only removing the air-duck and bracket only or do i need to remove brake & gas pedal too.

Great vid I seen some but your is more detail thanx
Ive been fighting with the electrical plug for a hour now connected to the blower motor. This has to be the worse part about this.
How do I go through the dash or where can I find that video????
That heater plastic cover is giving me so much trouble removing for sone reason
How about 2013? Is it the same torture?
I have the 2012 Nissan Rogue?
Is there any plastic covering on the right side blocking access to the resistor?
Is battery disconnected also?

check some youtube vids but I think they changed the blower location after 2013 to behind the glove box on pass side which makes this repair about a 10-15 minute fix rather than this mini career. Again not exactly sure when they made the switch over but thats a google away
