    Change the color of grease each grease time and you will see color change and know that you are pushing the old grease completely out . The only Lucas product I use is Red-n-Tacky and Green-n-Tacky .

      I like the red. Its easier to see in the dark also I grease them so often I don't need to switch between the two.. don't forget to grease your trailer....

      How often should you grease the fittings. I'm fairly new to my own truck. Got an oil change and forgot to say ultimate pm

    good video.
    My professional criticism as a heavy duty lube tech for 25 years:
    -too much grease in the clutch release bearing. I do 2 pumps once every 2-3 weeks.
    (based on info from a transmission mechanic)
    -too much grease in steering gear box. I do 1-3 pumps once per month and it is important to keep the engine running during this procedure. The pressure keeps the grease from compromising the internal seal. (based on info from steering box rebuilder)
    In an ideal world, we could lift the rig by the frame rails so the spring pins could get greased properly.
    Keep up the good work!

    When greasing the kingpins, you want to lift the axle up and check for play while the wheels are off the ground, greasing the kingpin while wheels are on the floor doesn’t do much

    With all the grease I've seen on. these trucks, for some reason it didn't dawn on me that I had to grease a bunch of stuff. My cousin told me a few weeks ago about greasing the air brakes somehow.

    • @angryadrien
      @angryadrien Рік тому

      yes, the s-cam style linkage usually has grease fittings for the s-cam tube (or the bushing block) and on the slack adjuster.

    One mechanic said to me that best way to grease king pin is to lift a truck enough to spin a wheel. I'm using a 20T bottle jack from Harbour Freight and since I start doing this I didn't have problem with king pins, they last very long time

    I watched this to make sure I was doing mine right. Great video bro but I would like to suggest maybe telling people what you are greasing and how much grease to put in each grease fitting. And how often. With my line of work, I was told every two weeks is the longest we should go without greasing. And I generally stick to 5-6 pumps on everything. Grease coming out of it is when a lot of people stop but I do feel like that’s overkill and more messy. I mainly watched this to make sure I didn’t miss any fittings and I noticed you missed the steering shaft. Thanks for taking the time to post this. Keep trucking and good luck in 2023 driver

    My neighbor took me in as help. Im new few months. What learned do a few pumps then listen for the splat of grease going through. If it back fills the fitting I scoop it up and glop it in the steering knuckle... also he reminds me to not overload the U joints and also push up on the shafts to check for movement... cunt hair is fine... so far all I know is western star, kenworth and Volvo. Im assuming they are all close to the same... forgot to mention i check the oil and make sure the coolant is in the bubble first... I'm learning a lot but I'm also learning what I don't like haha

      I prefer a metric cunt hair, but that's just a preference after 15 years of service in Asia, Australia and Europe.
