This makes me so happy and at the same time very emotional. It is because I've grown up with Moomins and just because of my grandma. She was big Moomin fan. We always watched Moomins together. Grandma even made "lucky juice" from one episode and gave it for me every morning when I was sleeping in living room. Moomins were always with us for these 14 years and I can remember those happy memories from past and I want to sent pictures of this artwork for her because she isn't here anymore. Grandma passed away few months ago because of cancer and it got my heart into hundred little pieces. Moomins are always in my heart and I love my grandma so much even knowing that she isn't here...I'm so grateful for these little miracles and Moomins are one of them♡

It looks, sounds and feels like every other show I watched on channel 4 as a child, unlike the old 90s show which wasn't afraid to experiment with the tone. Some episodes were calm and relaxing and others gave my 5 year old self nightmares. I think you can tell that I don't quite enjoy this either, but it's mostly just cause it's missing the life and soul that the old show had.
@@dorithot3895 this new 3D animated series has wrong voice actors, the characters act zestier and kinda quirky sometimes. The old series felt so down to earth, deep some times, had great messages and just absolutely beautiful soundtracks. It was perfect, but this new doesn't have any that same Aesthetic aura, it's modern and bland.
It’s kinda sad that this series is getting such a bad rep in Finland, just because its new... For those who dont know moomin is originally from Finland, there was a old TV series made in collaboration with an Japanese animation studio. Recently one of the channels in finland, YLE, stopped showing moomins and there was only one other that showed them, that was MTV3. But MTV3 did not have rights for the original voices, so they had to be redubbed and people were proper mad for doing so, even if they tried saving moomins. That left a bad taste in peoples mouth, same effect is happening here. The new voices and 3D animation is making people really angry, because of nostalgia. I havent seen a episode of the show yet, but I can clearly sense that they are trying to make it as good as they can, but nostalgia keeps taking people over. IMO people are overracting, the old moomins are not going anywhere. The OST is well made and has heart in it. The animation has been kept nice, it looks great! Only critique from me is that I would like them to make the Groke as scary as in the original series, other than that, great job!

YLE lost their rights to air the first dub of the original series and MTV couldn't air their dub so they remastered it for us to enjoy. YLE will now air this series because they worked pretty hard to make sure we would see our beloved Moomins around here again. They aren't trying to ruin the series like how Cartoon Network decided to bring back Teen Titans but made it edgier and for kids and that ruined the whole thing. It's alright to think this is bad or good, cause it's opinion. But if you just think how much they tried, this might not look so bad! :)
Also I recommend checking out the documentary from yle areena, its in finnish but its has parts in english, I think it was called: ”Making of moomins” or something like that

I just didnt find it that charming at all and how Little My didnt sound anything like My at all....I would even dare say I liked her re-dubbed Finnish voice from the 90s animation series More than her Voice on this new series (though no-one can really replace Elina Salo, she was THE voice for her) That being said it was only the first episode and I will judge the series only after Ive seen all the 13 episodes.

Snufking was always my crush as a kid I remember watching this with my grandma as a child . Always happy memories. The time I had a dream of the opening with me as a kid running to the house while my grandma waited for me at the door with open arms. Can never get over that.
Moomin was my childhood. For me, as I grew up with them since I’m from Finland, I was a little disappointed that the voices changed, but I didn’t watch them anymore. I am so happy that this amazing piece of art can be called Moomins! It’s beautiful! Sure, everyone will miss the “anime”, but this is still beautiful! Also in regards of Tove, while she mainly spoke Swedish, she could perfectly understand Finnish and even spoke it atleast to some regard. My 3rd grade class in California is learning about Finland right now and we have enjoyed learning about Moomin! Our school is named Starlight!

It cracks me up every time to know that Little My is just as disgusted to see forced hetero romance. The slow burn between him and Snufkin is more realistic, less forced, and seems genuine.

Moomi si quiere a Maiden, pero no como antes. Suponemos que cuando eran niños compartían un lazo especial, algo platónico. Esta más que claro que Moomi sintió que iba a querer a Maiden de la misma forma que en su infancia, pero no es así. Sin ánimos de sonar progre, Moomin esta descubriendo su sexualidad a costa de "traicionar" (porque no esta en la obligación de corresponder a Maiden) a Maiden y su deseo de tener a Moomin como pareja, parece que con esto digo que Maiden es una villana por hacer esto, pero sorpresivamente la historia no lo hace; es una chica caprichosa que aun no entiende que el mundo no es como en las fantasías, y que forzar a su amigo a vivir idea del romance solo lo hará vivir reprimido. El resultado es una relación hetero- normativa que se siente y es forzada; Moomin intenta quedar bien frente a Maiden, ser perfecto y darle toda su atención, por el lado de Maiden ella intenta por todos los medios acaparar la atención de Moomin, pues sabe en el fondo que el corazón de quien ama esta con otra persona. ¡Y aun no meto a Snufkin en la ecuación! Que desastre, mejor paro aquí. Se entendió todo.

@@riikkapitkanen3666 I'm Finnish-Swedish. Can speak Finnish and Swedish. Lived my whole life in Finland and I have nothing to do with swedish. Only thing what Swedish and Finnish-Swedish has common is the language.

@slowpudda, Exactly, Finland has lots of Finnish-Swedish people who dont even have relatives living in Sweden or never visited there.
Also in regards of Tove, while she mainly spoke Swedish, she could perfectly understand Finnish and even spoke it atleast to some regard. But obviously she main spoke Swedish and wrote all her Moomin books in Swedish.
Here is interview of her and her lifepartner Tuulikki Pietilä from 1991, where they did the interview in Finnish and you can hear her talk Finnish as well, but if you know Finnish, you can tell that she couldnt speak it quite as fluenty as Finnish:

Anyhow Swedish is Finland's official second language and thus even if you only would speak Swedish, but had born and lived here all your life, you would be just as much Finn as any other Finn. For those of you who dont know there are still towns and areas in Finland's coast where Swedish is really the "main" language.
