Great comparison Mark! You always have something insightful to show and say about whatever you’re reviewing or comparing and it’s greatly appreciated. On a side note you made a Pontiac logo at the end 😂
This choice is understandable and very good. Some will not agree, but from all the Bosch gear I have owned and used, you can’t go wrong with Bosch tools. They have given me great service and if you choose this router, you should be well pleased. Mark, this was a wise decision and you shall not regret it! Stay safe my mates!😊👍🏻😷
you will probably never see this, but I have the same bosch router and was able to get a set of offset collet wrenches to make it easier to swap bits with it in the table. If you do not have a set, look into them!
I JUST NOTICED THESE ARE ON SALE RIGHT NOW!!! (12.23.21) Don't miss it! 😎Get the Bosch Router here: amzn.to/3HgmUwj As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
Perfect timing! Just discovered the aperature of my dainty little trim router is too small for a couple bits I'm gonna need to use on an upcoming project! Still slowly re-building my tool collection, since I now have a dedicated shop space with plugs. Cordless tools are handy, but as your projects grow, it's nice to not have things die mid-cut. LOL That benchtop router table you have listed in the description is pretty awesome, too! I feel like I could build something better, but for $200, I'm just gonna get that and be done with it! Thanks for the video, Mark! Merry Christmas!
I personally use the dewalt cordless router. I don’t like having the cord pulling at the top of the router and it’s plenty powerful for basically everything I need. Paired with a whiteside 1/4 spiral flush trim bit. Bosch is fine but I don’t like the way the router slides into the base. After a few months the pins started to bind and it gave me all sorts of problems.
my pc is still going strong , that bosch does look like a close relative of it at a really good price too ... not a fan of door knob style handles but like handles that Makita RP2301FC has
What dust collection system are you using and from what direction? It seems amazingly efficient...🤯 Well done👍 Sad how Porter Cable as a brand has been totally dismantled, they had some great high quality and innovative tools over the years that have all disappeared... Sucks
It seemed like only yesterday (showing my age) that Porter Cable was top of the line gear. Sadly, after Black and Decker bought PC it has been slow descent into Harbor Freight territory.
@@carterscustomrods reall y? maybe thats why all 3 of my 618s took a crap in the last 11 months. one being 15 minutes. thinking of just buying 3 of these bosch routers.
Hey mark I got a jasper cutting jig I’m trying to cut a hole for my zv5 12” sub and it say to cut the hole 11.09” I can’t figure it out any help from you would be great thanks
Anyone ever seen a subwoofer vox for under the cargo cover in the Chevy Sonic LT hatchback? There's a small cargo area above the spare tire. It's the width of the spare tire compartment but below what is considered the cargo area in the small trunk.
I just recently got a Parkside (from Lidl) as it was on sale. I saw the price and jumped on it...was reading somewhere that they are similar to Bosch...will find out. Hopefully it does have the same features. You are a great reviewer and communicator. Any reason why Porter Cable decided to stop making routers?
Not sure why, but the quality of PC has been going down hill for years. I have a 890 that speed control died on at 2 years and PC ignored the 3 year warranty and told me good luck, used speed controls are more then the router was new. I was Done with the brand at that point. Sadly I have several PC routers.
I have a question.. I have a 1,000 watt 10” Rockford Fosgate subwoofer and I wanted to know what size of box I would need to make for it to get the best sound
Best sound is subjective and depends on the fitment of your vehicle. However, Rockford provides the suggested volumes and example dimensions on the product pages and/or manuals on the site for ported and seal applications. If you bought new the info should be in your manual.
That COMPLETELY depends on the type of vehicle, amplification, alternator output, installation quality, source unit, materials used, type of music... The parameters are endless. However, I am using three JL 10W3v3-8's on a single 500/1 and each sub is in the manufacturers recommended sealed enclosure (.55 CuFt). I have a baffled and braced enclosure assembled with cabinet-grade materials and the inside of the enclosure is painted with latex paint to prevent "breathing". It is punchy with a kick drum, will give you goosebumps with a cello, and will play pipe organ from Dorsey's Bachbusters.
Too bad Bosch does not make a mis-sized (or compact size) in a cordless function... yet. 😉 (as a woodworker, the Makita cordless compact is the best under $300 right now.)
My 890 speed control went out and PC doesnt sell or support a 3 year old router anymore, you can find them used for more then the router was new, Thats the biggest reason not to want a PC router ( I have several of them and the quality has dropped drastically in the last few years).
@@CarAudioFabrication I vote hell yes as well for the dust collection video (or maybe just attach a short breakdown of the setup at the end of another video. Either/or. Thanks man.

I’ve had that same Bosch router for 30 years. Good choice.

I’ve been running my Bosch for a while now and love it, I purchased mine as the dual base kit. (fixed and plunge)

Bought mine about a month ago, amazing torque and control of the bits! Only downside is there wasnt an included dust collector
Great video. Bosch always been. The 3hp plunge is so nimble balanced and light. I love my Bosch.

Are you going to go to any car audio shows and show us tech you want to see or try?
I've got this router, just need router bits! Looks really cool projects to do.
Yep I got that Bosch too. Love the motor speed and toughness.

True same with me
Honestly I have a CNC machine and it saves sooooo much time and effort as you can cut everything you want perfectly. I would highly recommend one
I have one. Still a lo of things that are faster with normal router. Especially with one off parts not doing production work

I use the DeWalt DW618 in my lift. It’s 2 1/4 HP with full feedback control and speed up to 24k rpm. It works like a champ.
The Dewalts do NOT like being upside down. In the woodworking industry, the 616, and 618 routers never last long, unless upright.
What dust collection system are you using and from what direction?
It seems amazingly efficient...🤯
Well done👍

When are you going to do the video on the router vacuum system?
PC is a Stanly tools subsidiary. They more than likely have an identical router under another brand.
Wow I’ve got an old Porter cable router I used to use on car audio fabrication.
It seemed like only yesterday (showing my age) that Porter Cable was top of the line gear. Sadly, after Black and Decker bought PC it has been slow descent into Harbor Freight territory.
Stanley Black and Decker is ruining every tool brand they have. Dewalt is their current self-destruct line. 😢

Do you have a link for the router mount/lifts your using

Have you ever considered a wood cnc machine ?
At what speed do you leave your table routers set to?
To be honest, it's been the best mud sized router for 20 years. ;)

Sure, Lidl Parkside is just like Bosch Blue line, or maybe even better for just 10th of the price (irony alert)
